Disney BBQ

Ive had some damn good bbq over the course of my life here in SC from highly regarded pitmasters. Flame tree used to be the best but they have really gone downhill. As many others mentioned Polite Pig is about the best you will find anywhere on property currently. I have high hopes, though I know I will be disappointed by the new joint opening up in the American Pavilion in Epcot.

I'm hoping the American Adventure place will at least have BEEF brisket and not just pork. I don't do pork. I spent many years living in Texas and that's the barbeque I like the best.

Being from Texas I try real hard not to be a bar-b-que snob but sometimes just can't help it. I cook my own and to be honest I would prefer to eat it more often than any other. In Texas we have Franklin's in Austin where they wait in line for hours and I live in Pearland where Ronnie Killen is making a name for his self and have had both and a lot of others around the state. At the end of the day I enjoy my own as much as any I have eaten over the years. I will try the Polite Pig next trip but as some one else mentioned I prefer the beef brisket. I like pork ribs and pulled pork but prefer brisket.

Is there a good BBQ place on property? I know places liked Hoop Dee Doo have ribs, but I'm looking for something better, more along the lines of what you'd expect at Memphis or Kansas City BBQ place. Ribs, brisket, etc

This had always been the weak link in Disney dining. The AK flanetree night be the best in park but the meat quality is inconsistent

I rarely do ribs anywhere outside of my favs. I travel a lot for work, and St Louis and KC ribs can't be beat. I have two places that have really knocked my socks off in both locations.

I do enjoy smoked, BBQ chicken and pulled pork. I have to be able to sauce my own pig though.

At WDW, I've only ever had the chicken at Flame Tree. It was fine. I do really enjoy WCC skillet, but that's partially because I love their cornbread 😉 I'm hoping the new place in the American Pavilion has some good meat and they get a good pit master. We will see.

I'm a BBQ Blogger and have traveled the country eating bbq. BBQ is subjective and as long as you enjoy it that is what matters most. I laugh when folks say "I'm from this state and know bbq" BBQ can be good anywhere if the person cooking it knows what they are doing. I've had bad BBQ in Austin, TX (BBQ Mecca IMO) as well as Memphis TN, but I've also had fantastic bbq in NYC. As for my personal preference Polite Pig is okay chicken is what impressed me the most. Also for a Theme Park Flame Tree is pretty good, I'm a sucker for their pulled pork fries. For what it's worth I had a Pitmaster at a famous bbq joint tell me that he loves Flame Tree and it's a must have when he takes his family to WDW. If traveling off property 4 Rivers isn't too bad either.
