Debt Dumpers - 2017

When I was in first grade, I fell on the metal jungle gym (Remember those?). My two front teeth hit a bar on the way down. Blood everywhere. I remember telling a playground aide "I think I chipped my tooth." She looked like she was going to pass out and said "I think you did, let's get you to the nurse." The teeth went straight up into my gums. They were luckily still baby teeth. The dentist pulled them out. I was toothless for almost 8 months since the adult teeth weren't ready to come in yet.

Hope your mom feels better soon!

My nephew did that EXACT same thing!! He's the only other person I've seen who shoved his teeth back up into his gums like that. He was about 3 or 4 at the time though and they just left them in and said the adult teeth would sort of push them back down. He had no issues and has beautiful teeth now!

And thank you, she's doing a little better. She didn't feel too great yesterday, but her doctor said she expected that to be her worst day. I'm taking her to get her stitches out Friday.

When DS was 21 months old, he slipped while I was getting him ready for a bath and hit his face on the side of the tub. Three of his upper teeth went back up into his gums (we didn't know that until he had an xray, we just knew we couldn't find them). They took a long time to come back down (months) but luckily were still alive and then when he was 5, fell out as baby teeth normally do. We were so lucky. I was so scared and felt so guilty on the way to the ER.

I was approved for a Target Red Card today! I shop there for pretty much everything, so I've been wanting to get their cc for awhile now.

Chugging along otherwise. I'm doing pretty well on not buying much in the way of Christmas decor so far this year. I love to decorate for the holidays, but at this point I have most of what I need to do that. :)

Definitely not debt dumping, but a good deal I couldn't pass up. Since moving last year and our old house getting broken into and stuff either got stolen or broken, we haven't exactly had any furniture in the house. When I hit that casino money I paid off a lease and paid ahead on loans.

Well, Ashley home store was having a 25% off sale, $99 down payment on financing, and no credit check. I really only went in to look, but I ended up being approved for $2200. Sooo, since they worked up such a good deal and holidays are coming and we will have visitors down from all over, I ended up buying a new bedroom set, dining room table and chairs, and coffee and end tables (all things we currently did not own). My monthly payment is only $220, which I have room in the budget for and I will pay it off completely with taxes (since what I was going to use my taxes for has already been paid off).

My other half has NO IDEA I actually got it. Lol. He knew I was looking and we were considering buying part of it in the next month. With the sale and reduced down payment, I saved over $600 on everything. The best part, the delivery fee includes them bringing it in, setting it all up, and hauling away all the trash. I'm just really excited to finally have a grown up looking house instead of a broke college kids.

Was going well with managing monly, ended Oct paying back a good extra $1k on credit, completely clearing our everyday one. Now we're really short though! Still waiting for reimbursement for about $400 of work expenses now that should have come in already. Should be fine by the end of the month but we are having to shell out for end of year dance stuff, deposits for preschool next year and I haven't even started on Christmas yet as I want to get all those other expenses squared away first.

Is it ever possible to take the car for an oil change and it only be just that? Tire light was on and I thought it was just from the cold since we had our first hard freeze last night. Nope, I had a nail in the tire and placement was such that it couldn’t be fixed and had to be replaced. Plus I needed wiper blades. $300....Plus I spent a ton on groceries, some of which is for Thanksgiving but I haven’t even picked up or paid for the turkey yet. Sigh.

I am heading out in a few hours for an "oil change",,,I swear I never make it out of there with just an oil change. I think they mentioned a transmission flush the last time I was there,,

I'm looking at redoing my car insurance. How do you have this rate? My comprehensive is only about $500k, and I'm paying $375/month for 2 vehicles. And this part of the country is NOT a high cost of living area.
That does seem high. I'm in the Boston area and pay about $4000 a year - we have two cars and one driver who is only 21.

No debt dumping news, but my birthday was over the weekend i was gifted a total of $175 in Disney gift cards. We head to Disneyland on Friday for a very quick 2 night trip. I was thinking i'd use the gift cards on Christmas decor, but my husband pointed out that I can get the Dooney and Bourke wristlet ($100) i've been wanting all year. So I think i'm going to do that and maybe a Christmas decor item or two.

Yay! This is exactly my plan with the Disney Gift cards I asked my mom and husband for this year. I'm not sure which print I want yet though! We go on a Disney Cruise next September so I may hold out until then to see what they have onboard before I decide. Have fun in Disneyland and happy belated birthday!

Thank you! I can definitely relate to your indecisiveness! I've been debating between 3 different patterns. I think I've decided on this one https://www.shopdisney.com/best-of-mickey-mouse-wristlet-by-dooney-and-bourke-1423100, but we'll see what happens when I actually get in the parks.

Good luck on deciding which one you can't live without! :)

Had an expensive but productive weekend. My car DESPERATELY needed new front tires... like, since before I drove it on 1000 mile road trip last month... and then drove it out of state again last Thursday night. Oops. I finally took it to Costco and had DH drive his car up there too so we can leave mine and run errands. When I went to buy my tires, the sales guy mentioned that we could do the $70 off four Bridgestone tires if we bought two sets of two tires (so, two tires in my car's size and two tires in his car's size). Since his car really also needed front tires and we had also been delaying that, we went ahead and did everything. $515 spent, but we ended up saving the $70 off plus another $60 off because they didn't charge the installation fee for each tire with that deal. I had called around on tires for my car before taking it to Costco too, so I know I was getting the best price on tires. Expensive, but at least it's done.

Unfortunately, our eating out budget has been needlessly terrible this month. I went to the grocery store this weekend and we currently have a ton of food in the house, so hopefully we can stay home and quit spending money.

Starting to work on Christmas lists... bought DH a pair of Pupsocks for his birthday at the end of the month and I think my brother-in-law have decided to go in together on a sound bar for him for our tv. Need to get myself in the holiday spirit but it hasn't hit yet! Maybe once I buy the thanksgiving turkey for the 12 people coming to our house...

No debt dumping here, sadly. Between food and tickets at Hersheypark ($200), a tour I booked for Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend for our Vegas trip ($650), a new lawnmower to replace our old one that broke down this summer ($300) and our flights to Disney for next summer (around $400), we are spending alot. I also spent extra on our grocery budget but I'm all stocked for Thanksgiving. I got a 24 pound turkey since I'm hosting at least 15 people.
I also splurged and bought my first pair of hikers-Merrell Moab boots. I figure it will come in handy next year as we plan to do some hiking on various day trips.

We are doing ok. Baby is due any day now so at this point we are just trying to save to help cover his hospital bill. We'll probably be able to pay about half outright and set up a payment plan for the rest over a few months. Check engine light came on the other day but luckily it was just a $20 fix my husband could do.

We haven't gotten rid of much debt the last few months but we have kept from accumulating more and have been able to meet several large unexpected expenses head on, so I'm very pleased overall. I've also been able to keep up with Christmas expenses and have almost all of my shopping done and most gifts will be going in the mail this weekend.

I'm starting to look ahead to 2018! My goals for next year will be to build 3 months of emergency savings and to pay to move in June and cover our Disney Cruise in September. We can do this!

Well we didn't book a last minute trip to DL...we decided for a bunch of reasons that it wasn't the right time..a bit sad as I wanted to see the Christmas decorations, but there will be other years. We've been saving to finish out basement and the money saved will really help in this regard. We are going to get a few contractors to come have a look so we can get an idea of what kinda budget we are working with. Adulting is hard sometimes...

I feel like I'm gaining more debt dumping motivation now that the year is ending. I should be able to pay off another cc next month if I get the same holiday bonus that I got last year. I have already reworked my spreadsheet for 2018 as well and have my goals set. All of my cc's are now at 0% interest and the few trips I have booked for 2018 are paid in full already aside from airfare for two out of the three. I'll be keeping an eye out for good rates. I'm really excited to be doing my first solo trip to WDW during Labor Day week of next year! I rented DVC points for the Boardwalk, which I've never stayed at. That and my park tickets are paid in full! Trying to keep the debt dumping momentum going while still having fun things to look forward to next year. :)

This week has been such a money drain. In addition to the tire on the weekend, earlier this week DS’s charger broke off inside his phone. Dh took it to the phone store who said to file an insurance claim. Deductible was $112. Then I did some holiday shopping to start getting ahead. Got some great deals plus Ebates money back and some Kohl’s cash though. Can’t complain really, but it’s always such a huge outlay this time of year.
