DD with Juvenile Osteoporosis

Just wanted to know if the ECV's are available to children. Daughter was recently diagnosed with Juvenile Osteoporosis and degenerative disc disease (all autoimmune related) , and will be unable to walk much. What type of Dr's notes does Disney need to rent one of these vehicles. Thanks

ECVs rented from Disney cannot be rented or used by anyone under 18. You may be able to make arrangements with an outside provider. Not sure what their rules are as I have never rented one for someone under 18. Otherwise you will have to rent a wheelchair.
Be sure to get a Guest Assistance Card for her also. Explain what her needs are so you will recieve the assistance she needs.

ECVs are not for use by children. You will need to get a wheelchair. You can rent these by the week from an outside provider, or get one on a first-come first-serve basis from your onsite resort. If you will need the wheelchair to go long distances in the resorts or between parks, you won't want to depend on getting them in the parks. You don't need a doctor's note for wheelchairs.

Just wanted to confirm that WDW won't rent an ecv for use by a child. i have been told that the outside vendors also will not rent one for use by a child. It is intimidating for an adult to drive one in crowded conditions and I think they are concerned about what would happen to a child driving one.
If you have a fairly tall child, she might be OK with an adult wheelchair. Otherwise you may want to rent a shild sized wheelchair. As far as I know, WDW only rents adult sized chairs.
