Hi, I'm new here. I'm going to a DCA preview day on January 25, but I'd really like to know a little about it before I go. (I really like the Bob Sehlinger "Unofficial Guides" with their ideas to see things most efficiently. I was at DL yesterday and asked for a map of DCA, but I just got the "opening Feb. 8 and maps available then" spiel.

So, if you're a CM or Disney Club member and you happen to get to go to a preview day before 1/25, I'd really, really appreciate a trip report posted here!

Thanks!

I will be attending a Preview on January 19. Trip report will be posted by the 21st. (Uh oh, did I just commit to that?)

I just got back from the first preview and I have to say I was much more impressed than what I had expected. The crowds were few during our preview but even so, we didn't get to see everything because there was so much to explore!

First tip: You WILL get wet on the Grizzly River Raft Ride. If you go on it, make sure it is warm outside, or that you have a rain poncho so you don't get soaked. Also, if you get dizzy easily, note that the rafts spin a lot.

Second tip: The longest line will most likely be for Soarin', which is a great attraction. If the Fast Pass is working, make sure you get one.

Third tip: Keep your head on the headrest on the California Screamin' roller coaster. The launch is sudden and I sure didn't expect it. It's a lot of fun and surprisingly smooth.

Fourth tip: When the parade starts, make sure you're standing someplace where you can move around. If you find that you need to leave or go someplace else during the parade, note that there weren't any crossing areas and we had to wait for the parade to complete before we could cross.

Just some notes from our trip, we really enjoyed the Maliboomer. It's not as frightening as it looks and it is really smooth. The Avalon Cove restaurant is pricey but it's good. The Midway games at Paradise Pier have nice prizes. They don't seem to be the cheap toys you see at carnivals. Take time to explore the Animation attraction. It's like an exhibit hall with several things to see. We didn't get to it but I hear that the Steps In Time show at the Hyperion Theatre is very good.

Overall, our whole family really enjoyed the park and are waiting to go back. Have a great time at your preview! You'll enjoy yourself. Take money because the merchandise is mostly DCA exclusive and very nice. They do have Package Express so that you don't have to carry your purchases around all day.

What exactly is this? Is it like a dark ride? Buzz Lightyear kinda thing? Roger Rabbit? Or is it a coaster? Or maybe Indy? Anything in it that'd make someone with motion sickness sick?
I'll be attending the preview on the 22nd. Can't wait.
How 'bout the Soap Opera restaraunt? Did you eat there. I think my mom will love this. She's a HUGE GH fan.

I am going on the 16th and the
19th--I will let you know.

Go to "mouseplanet.com"--they have TONS OF PICTURES and reviews on DCA--that is a great website for anything about Disneyland!

I just got off and they have all tons of pictures and a great trip report and tons of info(like usual)
What I have read about Superstar Limo is that it is not too great. You ride though Hollywood and see famous stars and that it goes really slow. I also read that lots of people thought Soarin' wasnt to great either...they said it broke down a whole lot on Saturday.
www.mouseplanet.com has tons of info on it

The description of this sounds like the Rockin' Roller Coaster from MGM in WDW. If it's the same it is TOTALLY COOOOL!!!

I have not been, yet, 107 days, 5 hours, 37 minutes, 45 seconds, 1098 milliseconds to go!

Superstar Limo, based upon my research, seems like a mix of Roger Rabbits Cartoon Spin, Alice and Wonderland, and Mr. Toad, meet Hollywood.

Nothing like Rocking Roller Coaster, but there is rumor that RRC may be built at CA someday.

Well Doobie did it, got into the very first cast preview ! Over on http://www.laughingplace.com he has a review and about 150 pictures. BUT, the site is moving very slowly....must have huge traffic.

would be a very surprising addition imo... The main gimmick of RnR is the high speed launch, and California Screamin' has that... I'm not saying that it won't happen, just that I'd be surprised. Also, I can't say enough good things about Mouseinfo.com! As a life long East-coaster who has yet to go to Disneyland resort, I really enjoy the great pictures and video... almost like being there... almost...

Flamingoes get their pink coloration from the shrimp that they eat. Shrimp are pink because, of course, they eat flamingoes.

Limo is actually a gussied up dark ride. It moves relatively slowly but quick enough that if you blink, you may miss some of the gags.

If you don't expect a E-Ticket attraction, then you should enjoy it for it's cleverness. The idea is that it is a campy spoof on Hollywood culture. There are Animated Figures throughout the attraction including Whoopi Goldberg, Cindy Crawford, Drew Carey, Jackie Chan, Tim Allen, and Regis Philbin. Disney will add even more celebrities in the near future.

Pay close attention to the gags. They're corny but cute. If you happen to know some Imagineers who worked on the attraction, you may be able to spot their faces throughout the ride. It's a fun bit of trivia.

From what I could tell, little kids really liked it. Adults were more or less chuckling to themselves. Mind you, it's not the heartstopper that Rock N Roller Coaster is. But it's still a neat ride that one should see for themselves.

As for Soap Opera Cafe, I have not been there but I have heard that it is a lot of fun. The menu is rather pricey but the entertainment is unique. When we were there, there was a long line outside.

I know there are people who didn't like Limo or Soarin due to the ride breakdowns. But I would encourage people to go see these two attractions despite these bad revies. During the previews before the grand opening, these rides are bound to have bugs. The Imagineers are using this time for testing and adjusting.

One thing I did notice was a lack of entertainment devoted entirely for younger kids. Disneyland has Fantasyland and Toon Town, as well as Tom Sawyer Island. DCA has Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, which is very nice and a lot of fun, the Fun Boat in Paradise Pier, and Jumping Jellyfish in Paradise Pier. But the kids I saw at DCA were having a ball just running around, climbing on the statue of GRR, the big bear at Grizzly River.

It would be interesting to see how younger guests like the new park.

As for me, I'm young enough at heart that I really enjoyed it.
