Hi Su-Lynn. First of all, just let me say how sorry I am to hear about your dad's prognosis. Cancer is a horrible disease. My dad has been fighting it for many years now. I think it's wonderful that your family is so close and that you have all pulled together to be there for him.

Second, what an amazing trip, and such beautiful pictures. I love how you always bring a little bit of Disney with you on your travels, or how you manage to find something Disney to do...

Mandy Patinkin is a HUGE favorite of ours! You are so lucky to have been able to see him live. One of Joe's favorite movies is Princess Bride, and of course, we love him on Homeland!!!!

This is a little jarring to post but my dad is going into hospice very soon.

I am so sorry to hear this. But glad to hear that his pain is being managed.

If you notice, my sisters and I get our dimples from our dad.

I was thinking how much you both look like him, but in different ways.

My sister did admit she didn't realize the shower curtain was outside of the tub until she was halfway done with her shower.

OMG!!!! That is crazy! My husband would have lost it... We have had alot of my family live with us at one point in time. It is def fun!

2 days before we left, my nephew Bryan broke his leg -

Man! Life is really giving you guys a run for your money. Poor guy!

Don't worry though, it's a clean break and will heal, it was just more craziness and stress for my family that week.

It is crazy how fast kids heal! My girlfriends daughter broke her wrist basically doing the same thing... just being a kid. And the doctor said an adult would take 3 times as long to heal.

In a way it was good timing for the trip. We were able to sit down with my extended family and explain the whole situation to them. We got to Facetime my dad while we were with his relatives. My dad had of course not fully told them how precarious his health was right now, but I thought it was important to let them know the truth and to prepare them. A few of them are planning to fly to NY in the next few weeks, hopefully they will be able to see my dad while he's still alive.

Probably a true blessing to talk to them in person. Especially with them being so far away.

It's unfortunate because I had to cancel our first DVC stay at our home resort, the Poly, as well as a bunch of events, like Highway Around the Sky dining experience, multiple FP for Slinky Dog, and a meal at the new Artist's Point Snow White dinner.

It will all still be there. As I am sure you know.

It was very long flight(s). 15.5 hours for the first leg to Hong Kong and another 9 hours to Sydney, so if you can, premium class is the way to go!

Do people sit in regular seats the whole way!!! Yikes!

OMG it was the most stunning view I've ever had. #bucketlist

Oh Su-Lynn, I'm so, so sorry to hear your dad is not doing well. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. You're lucky to have everyone nearby and such a great support system. How is your mom holding up through all of this?

Poor little Bryan looks so pitiful in his cast. I'm sure he'll be back running around in no time. I'm glad everything worked out with your house and your sister's house. You're right about when it rains, it pours. I can't tell you how many times I've had numerous things going wrong all at once.

The DIS is my escape to read about my happy place. I can't tell you how many times I head here after a bad day at work or when I'm feeling low. I'm grateful for all of the likeminded people here.

Beautiful photos of Sydney. I couldn't see a lot of the photos posted, but the ones that I could see were great. How fun that you stayed in a place shown in Soarin'.

I definitely geeked out more at the fact that the hotel was featured in a Disney ride, and less of the fact that it's a 5-star hotel in Sydney. I would have been ok with a 2-star hotel if it was on a Disney ride! Actually make that 3-star, LOL.

I don't share much about my Dad on social media just because we have relatives that would just bombard us with questions and advice every time we posted something, so we just let them know discreetly.

I'm so glad that you had such a lovely trip, I so enjoyed following along on Instagram. I had to laugh when you mentioned wearing Disney shirts on non-Disney trips because I noticed Steve in a few on Instagram What a wonderful way to spend your 10th!

I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about your dad. I lost mine to cancer at age 59 back in 2007 and it's an incredibly difficult thing to go through. You are in my thoughts.

Yeah we canceled our trip before the 30 day mark so that I wouldn't forget and we'd have a problem trying to cancel stuff later.

OMG that is insane. Water leaks are the worst. I'm glad it wasn't the pipes or something more serious. Sucks about the hole I know!

OMG I would love to try this even ONCE for a long flight!! Looks amazing!! I would hope that it made the jet lag a lot less.

It really spoils you. I can't imagine taking another long flight in coach. Although we did it back in January - not the best but small price to pay to travel to cool places!

Ugh!! That would be scary but the whole experience looks pretty cool!!

It's not as bad as you think, you're in a harness and strapped to a tether the whole time and they move pretty slowly. I think you can do it!

Sorry to hear about your father. My good wishes are with him and your family. It sounds like you had an amazing trip though, and it's probably what you needed to keep from constantly worrying.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. It is never easy to lose someone, never mind a parent. Thankfully mine are ok, but I have helped many friends who had to say good bye to their parents too soon. Your whole family is in my thoughts and prayers. You had the perfect storm of stuff going on with your family and house! We had our toilet flood and ruin our ceiling, my husband tried to fix it and made it worse! Resulted in a panic call to my dad since I didnt know how to turn off the water, and a call to our plumber, who is thankfully a friends dad! He came out the next day and fixed the leak. Some kind of valve, or ball or socket, or something plumbery broke. It was an easy fix thankfully!

I am so sad to hear about your dad. My dad passed away about 8 years ago from cancer. His conventions are what rekindled my love for Disney as a grown up. He wanted to share with the grandkids and I tagged along .

I know there is nothing I can say that will make this easier for you. With your family and friends , I know you will be surrounded by love and support.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It really really sucks to lose someone to cancer. My best friend Kelly lost her dad last year to liver cancer and it was so devastating to see.
That is so great that your dad is what sparked your newfound love for Disney, what a sweet memory you have now!

Yikes! Glad it wasn't too bad. We had a pipe break last January that flooded our garage and finished basement. Not a fun experience at all!

It is a really long flight, but it's great there, so beautiful and the people are so friendly and sweet. I really enjoyed our time in Sydney and hope we get to explore more of Australia!!

Sounds like a whole lot of fun! I'm terrified of heights but the dare-devil in me would have to try this.

I think you would enjoy it. I am not one for heights or climbing, but even I had a great time.

Well I know that I do but then Disney clothing makes up at least half of my wardrobe.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. We lost my dad at 75 almost 2 years ago, and it is very very hard and complicated no matter the circumstances. I hope he has a peaceful stay in care and at hospice, surrounded by love.

Su-Lyn I’m sending lots of love your way... My mom is currently battling stage 4 breast cancer that spreed to her chest wall, Brain, liver and bones. She’s gone downhill so rapidly it’s crazy. She’s currently getting chemo that appears to be helping to shrink tumors but is making her feel absolutely miserable... I , like you, tend to fall into the escapist category and I’m so glad to have my January trip to run away too. I know there’s nothing I can say to make it better so *hug*

Aww I'm so sorry to hear that your dad is fighting cancer too. I hope he is doing well. My dad's cancer was discovered very late and it had already spread and it is worse now. I wish your dad all the best. Thank you so much for your support. My family is very close (also we all live within 15 mins of each other) so it has been really nice for my dad to have everyone around.

Thank you!! Yes, I always travel with something Disney! Even the eyeshadows I wore for my cousin's wedding was from the Disney Princess x Color Pop collection.

Me too! He is one of my favorite actors and Princess Bride is one of my favorites too! And he is amazing in Homeland. He is an amazing singer too. Definitely a cool experience to see him live.

Right? We were so glad the week was over when we finally headed to the plane. I was not 100% sure everything would go well until we were actually airborne, then I could breathe a sigh of relief.

Oh for sure! Kids heal so fast! My stupid ankle still occasionally hurts from fracturing it last year, plus my knee...ugh it always hurts!

I was hanging by a thread. I broke down and cried in the car after I heard my nephew broke his leg. I was just having a rough week, but I am so thankful the little things could be fixed.

My mom is ok - she's dealing the best she can. Her sister just arrived today from Australia which will be a great support for her as they are very close.

All the kids are so much bigger now when I look back at the pictures from the trip last year!
YEah this past trip kinda spoiled me! It's too bad I didn't win the mega millions and can travel to Disney in style like all the time. Wait if I won then I'd just move to Disney, and live in the castle, LOL.
