Change of itinerary until June for Eastern Caribbean

So, having just returned from SXM, I will say that it has visible hurricane damage. As you walk out of port towards town, you will see trash and destroyed containers with twisted steel and the like. There is roadwork being done.

That said, the Dutch side is coming along much faster than the French side, due to funding support.

We rode with Soualiga Destinations. The walk from ship to pier was not at all arduous, although not especially scenic. The port at SXM is definitely a working port (like much of PC). The water was a bit choppy the day we were out, so when snorkeling we mostly saw fish, not turtles. The second snorkel stop, the water was not good for snorkeling, so we went on to a small beach with no one on it to swim and look for shells.

Lunch is currently sandwiches, apples and chips, as the restaurant they'd previously used is on the French side and pretty trashed. Our skipper and mate were telling us about the issues on the French side for reconstruction.

I wouldn't recommend this excursion for anyone prone to motion sickness (speedboat, Atlantic Ocean) or very young children (must swim in deep water). But if you have older kids/no kids, it was a lot of fun.
