Castle to Chateau - Disneyland Paris Inaugural Rundisney Weekend *completed 06/30

Day 4 - Disneyland Paris Inaugural 5K
Part 2 - SO MANY CHARACTERS!

After our character stop we continued running and then ran through the castle! Definitely a highlight of the race! Even better was that there was no congestion! We just ran on through and enjoyed the moment...

We stopped for a castle picture on the other side

Onto Frontierland and we came across Woody and Jessy
29352921934_01d1983c6b_b.jpg

What an amazing run of characters!! We were having an absolutle BLAST!

Cheesing it up for the cameras as usual
32459918332_a621fcc9de_b.jpg

We passed the 3KM marker
29352923914_8485a28c20_b.jpg

And then went backstage on a road towards the Walt Disney Studios Park... We were greeted by some excited volunteers screaming ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ!! They were so friendly I had to stop for a quick picture!
29980504585_2795e32534_b.jpg

Right after we spotted Rodger Rabbit with NO WAIT! This is one of my favourite pics of the run..

31801145793_57ccce8f7c_b.jpg

And right after we finally hit another character line and this one was definitely worth waiting for! We had reached the Ratatouille area and with this being the Ratatouille 5K they had an awesome group photo opportunity... but first... we bumped into our friends from the expo! It was crazy how many times we bumped into these guys so this time we got a photo
29353822753_2987b8e57b_b.jpg

We waited about 10/15mins for this but it was also a great opportunity to use some real bathrooms and catch up with our friends!

The wait was totally worth it for this photo

4KM down
29946456396_a8ccf0a2fc_b.jpg

We decided we needed to pull our pace back for the last 1km, we'd set off super quick and it was pretty warm out as well so we were at risk of burning out ahead of our half marathon.

Soon enough we were crossing the finish line! We ran the last few hundred meters and had lots of fun as we cross the finishing line!

31801145073_71f85abb28_b.jpg

Pluto was out for high fives as was Goofy! Also out were Minnie and Mickey... with no line... and lots of people... all trying to push in and get a photo! It was CHAOS!! There was a group of people crowded around them, we actually managed to get a quick photo after taking one for someone else (and them taking one in return) but it was pure luck and very rushed
29866643662_3a0a220f30_b.jpg

When we came out of the group we noticed a HUGE line formed but nobody from that line was getting anywhere near as there was nobody controlling the people closest to the characters so it was a case of who could get in front first for a photo. Terrible terrible thing to do and I felt sorry for *Mickey and Minnie*

Right after us they just took them away and everyone that was waiting was just left with no photo... If you're going to put Mickey and Minnie in a cool running outfit you need to create a proper queuing system!! Anyway.. rant over... it didn't dampen our spirits because that was the BEST Rundisney race I have ever run! It was tonnes of park time and SO MANY characters with barely any waiting. We LOVED ever second!

We had a final photo taken on our way out to the Disney Village with our medals

We went back to our room to freshen up and chill :D

Ooh, I missed this as I was home in Canada visiting my family.

Nick loves speed, but struggles with drops. At some point he may try ToT.
We arrive on the Thursday probably around mid-day and leave the Sunday morning, staying at NBC until Monday morning. We're driving. Looking forward to seeing you guys again :). Shame our June trips miss out by a day

I know! Bad planning on our part!

YESSSSS I just went in March so I'm on a real DLP high. Loving this!

When did you go in March? I was there 16th-19th!

Love that you're doing YouTube! I will definitely watch when I can! :goodvibes

Aw thank you!

It really bugs me that there's no real theming to the park, but it has some of my favourite rides so I do enjoy it! ToT, Rock n Rollercoaster, Ratatouille and Crush Coaster! And not forgetting the backlot tour :thumbsup2

Yes it does! Plus the areas that are themed well are so nice! I LOVE Toy Story area too... That entrance is a complete logistical nightmare when it's busy!

It's my favourite castle I think :goodvibes

I completely understand why!

Whoa this must've been super early, I've never seen their line short! Very cute picture!

That was right at 8am for EMH... they don't open the main gate from the village until around 7.55am

The french ToT CMs are all SO good!! There's always someone making everyone laugh.

YES! They are so good and keeping everyone entertained while they wait and enhancing the experience

Hahahah YES you're expecting it to move forward through that dark starry electriccy room where the clock smashes and stuff.. and it just kinda drops

YEP!!

That is hilarious :rotfl2: my enjoyment of Disneyland was definitely raised a few percentage points because of this square of pavement

It's absence was noticeable on my last trip.. haha

WHAT I love Disney Dreams!!!!!!

I know!! I did like it but I just need more FIREWORKS!! I actually think I prefer the new show!

Love this! I have the same photo - arms and everything!

22825371963_ee9029c84b.jpg

Haha so funny!

"Flat Karen" :rotfl:

Glad this amuses you lol

Thanks for reading hun!

Sheriff of Nottingham from Robin Hood!

Such great photos & Roger Rabbit so jealous! Oh poor Mickey & Minnie, luckily no one got smashed & you got a photo!

That race did look like it was lots of fun. Not that I've ever run one :rolleyes1but I've seen lots of pictures from reading trip reports.

Congratulations on a job well done! :thumbsup2

Thank you! I literally just realised that I have included some photos from the Half Marathon.. we were in completely different outfits! No idea how I missed that lol but now when I re-post the pic I'll know exactly who I met!

I lover the Roger Rabbit one! I know, it was really poor!

It was so much fun! If you ever did get the urge a Disney 5k is for sure the way to go!

Thank you! :D

Day 4 - Disneyland Paris Inaugural 5K
Part 3 - Disneyland Paris Park & Rainforest Cafe

After showers and some down time we got the bus back to the Disney Village.

We were pretty hungry so decided to grab lunch and Earl of Sandwich... Mmmmmmm sandwich...

For some reason this is the only photo I took so that shows you NOTHING.. lol It was my usual club sandwich though.. I can't get enough of that Mayo!

We wanted to go back to the Expo to have a proper look around and get some KT tape on (we were both suffering in the build up). It was nice and calm at the expo, made a change from our last visit! We strolled around and checked out the booths. There was plenty of the official merch left, they obviously just picked their very small selection for the weekend but bought in BULK! The medal racks really caught my attention so we had a good look. With all of our Dopey medals we really needed somewhere nice to showcase them!

29946475076_bee5f41421_b.jpg

I decided I was going with this one
29946475836_5873263e21_b.jpg

Rachel liked the same one but there was only one in stock on the day. As with the other vendors they said they got very little info and where somewhat unprepared for the expo! Luckily the gentleman said he would ship it at a really good price to Ireland for Rachel. I took the one in stock as I didn't have baggage restrictions on the Eurostar!

We decided to head into the main Disneyland Paris Park and see if we could get a few pictures with our medals. There aren't really any photopass photographers just handing around like in Walt Disney World so you can only really get photos with characters so we decided to meet some characters!

29980530315_bd2b0ee4f3_b.jpg

As you can see the sun was shinning in Paris today!
29946477996_0fb59b3bc4_b.jpg

Next was Geppetto which was a first for us! He was so excited by our medals and went pretend running with us on the spot
29866698452_e91d137221_b.jpg

Last but not least was Rapunzel... She was also excited about our medals!
29946483006_0f01bba042_b.jpg

We chatted for what felt like ages.. she loved our custom ears as well! Rapunzel had us pose which I think came out really cute

We had made dinner plans for later that evening but we were hungry already and had some time to kill before the parade so we decided to head back out to the Disney Village and find somewhere to eat.

We decided on Rainforest Cafe!!

I've only eaten here in Disney!

Despite the need to hydrate we decided to split one of these bad boys...
29352941964_dc655aca03_b.jpg

it was lovely!

Rachel ordered Pasta and I got Fajitas and we shared some Garlic Bread

Rachel's pasta was lovely but my fajitas were NOT! The wraps were stale and stuck together, I asked for some replacements and they were only slightly better. Lucky for me Rachel didn't finish her meal so I had some pasta too!

I don't think I would eat here again...

Shame about your Rainforest Cage experience. I've eaten at several different ones and our experience at thisbone that same weekend was pretty good.

Earl of Sandwich OMGosh yum!! I'd never done the WDW before but had read about it. I could live on their Roast Beef Sandwich, and envision picking up at least a couple on our walk back to SL in June.

Did they actually have photopass photographers with the characters? Or did the CMs take the pics for you?

(Edit to clarify I mean the regular meet and greet, not the race ones).

I can't believe some of the characters you got! Roger Rabbit still meets ANYWHERE in Disney?! And Mary Poppins with Bert AND a penguin!!? It took us years to even snag a picture with a penguin. So cool.

Great character pics! I'm always curious what Paris is weather is like (one of the things I love about a Disney vacation is the warm weather) . . .how did that feel on your trip?

I've FINALLY managed to get pictures uploaded to flikr that Rachel took with my Dad's old DSLR. The pics were in a RAW format (NEF) and I couldn't convert them. Eventually found a free trial software to use... so without further ado back to the trip report!

Day 4 - Disneyland Paris Inaugural 5K
Part 4 - SO MANY PHOTOS & Magic on Parade

After dinner we made our way back to the Disneyland Paris Park and as we still had some time to kill we went for a wander and took some photos. Rachel had my Dad's old DSLR camera and this was her first time using it, I've not edited the photos in any way just converted to JPEG. We're complete newbies at this but I think Rachel did a great job!

Adventureland is just off to the left of the castle, I love this entrance!

35154032975_28162dcf99_b.jpg

We walked back out towards the entrance and found a place to watch ‘Magic on Parade’ for the first time. We found a spot near the entrance which was right on the end of the parade route and sat on the curb to wait.

We came at just the right time because it got busy very quickly!
35154002355_a7248df7fe_b.jpg

The parade is FANTASTIC... or should I say WAS fantastic. There is a new parade at DLP that started as part of the 25th Anniversary Year, if you never had a chance to see the parade well you're in luck! I'm about to BOMBARD you with pictures! I LOVED it.. the music and the floats and everything!! Enjoy...

Now in this next photo Rapunzel is looking right at us and waving.. well it turns out she recognised us from earlier in the day! She pointed to our ears and in recognition and then waved for ages at us! It was so cute!

We were pretty tired afterwards, the parade ended about 6.10pm and we decided to head back to our room and chill for the rest of the evening. We watched Disney vlogs and chatted about the day. We both agreed we'd had a GREAT day!!
Unfortunately though my knee and my hamstring were starting to hurt :guilty:

Half Marathon coming tomorrow!
