Canadian Buffoon's Back to Front Vacation - Update! 05/18 - Falling Down

This past weekend,
Fallon (@fallonkendra)
and her DH, Luke, were in town
Yay! You're the king of Dismeets these days. :thumbsup2

So that's the breakfast room.
Any comments?
Yes. I have a lot of comments. But at least we know he didn't struggle putting on his shoes that morning... :rolleyes1

Would you go out in public
like that?
Not a chance! I barely go out for a run without full makeup and a coordinated outfit :rotfl2:

Or for those of you
directionally challenged,
I would come from <- there,
and keep going there ->.
Thank you! This may have been directed at me...

I had decided to stop here
for dinner when I first learned
of pasties.

No, not the kind that you might
find tasseled and counter-rotating.
(Although that too,
would be a fine reason to stop.)

These pasties were for your mouth.

I mean... It's food! I stopped for food!!

facepalm_zpsvir8htre.gif
:lmao:

I felt much better
than I had the previous morning.
I was even able to get dressed
without screaming.
Wow! That's a huge improvement. I was so bummed when I learned of your back issues right before the trip. Well, I'm bummed to hear of your back issues at any point, but especially before a trip!

If I wasn't already in a
wonderful relationship
I might've asked her to marry me.
Hey, what about me?!

It looks like we're balancing
a tomato between our heads.
Yes, yes, it does. @chunkymonkey does a great job positioning her head in just the right way, too. You should see our Liberty Tree Tavern photos

Did you see it in this chapter?
YES!!!!!!!!!!! And I may have actually squealed a bit!

Am I a prude for feeling
that the gentleman in
the robe may have been
a touch under-dressed?
Would you go out in public
like that?
No condemnation or criticism
implied or intended.
I'm just curious.
Well, no I wouldn't! We were staying at a hotel a few years ago visiting my oldest at college. Someone showed up at the breakfast area in jammies. We thought that was a bit too casual even for us, and we are pretty casual!

Flipflops are always kicked off and slid back under driver seat for proper barefoot driving when sporting flip flops. I'm an expert as I grew up in the flip flop capital (well I just made that up) of Phoenix. It was flip flops year round!

Sounds like you have a great Dad & Dot trip planned with your DD next May! I love traveling with my DS because he and I have compatible touring philosophies! Enjoy your trip. DS and I will be there over the dreaded spring break timeframe. I just hope it's warmer this year than last year!

Ugh! That's the word I was looking for!
I knew "practitioner" wasn't what I wanted,
but I was having a brain fart at the time.

No worries! Glad I could help you find your word

Yup.
Even that deer photo I posted
had another just off camera.

Funny after reading about your deer sighting we were admiring three bucks lying in a yard on our way to work this morning. We almost didn’t see the one that wandered out in front of our car while we were looking at the others. Sneaky little suckers.

Oh... went back to look at your photos more closely. My eyes only seem to work “occasionally”.

In keeping with the TR theme,
a quick real life update.

This past weekend,
Fallon (@fallonkendra)
and her DH, Luke, were in town
for a visit.

Nice!

I was able,
with some help from my
co-worker, to have them
come see me there.

I showed them around the place,

If I come up there, can I get a tour?

Still haven't quite gotten
the hang of selfies.
Sorry about that.

Actually you seem to be pretty good at them!

Waking up at five a.m. for work sucks.

Yeah, I could agree with you there. I haven't had to do it for years, but I do remember having to do that.

Waking up at five a.m. at Disney is okay.

I'm not sure I would go so far to agree with you here. I do it all the time, but I also go back to sleep.

So you can decide for yourselves
how I felt about getting up at
five o'clock in the morning,
with about a twelve hour drive
ahead of me.

Knowing you, you probably liked it.

It was not a fun morning.
I kinda needed help.

This is why I can't do solo trips, Fran needs help.

So that's the breakfast room.
Any comments?

Does it have "make them yourself waffles?" That's my test of a good breakfast!

Am I a prude for feeling
that the gentleman in
the robe may have been
a touch under-dressed?
.

No. Not at all. I don't think that people should leave their rooms without being dressed. Breakfast rooms, Concierge Lounges are not an extension of your hotel room. Last week Jenny and Jill met me in the CL and said that they were not dressed for the day, but they had street clothes on, not PJs. I think if you're going to a public location you need to be dressed accordingly.

Would you go out in public
like that?

He!!'s to the no!

I frequently have no idea.
I just followed Betty and
turned when she said to.

Huh. Fran and I always go to the auto club and get "real" maps for where we are going in addition to following Google Maps.

Um....
So... it looks like
she was right.

Which is why we like to consult real maps.

For the next few hours,
I wound my way along
winding roads that snaked
through gorgeous fall foliage.

Nice, we get that in about 3-4 months.

I had decided to stop here
for dinner when I first learned
of pasties.

We have a pasty shop here as well!

uv

Evidently that image didn't work.

I ordered my pastie

What? It's doused in Gravy! How do you pick that up and eat it?

I arrived in Frankenmuth around
eight thirty in the evening.
If you're keeping track,
that was a fourteen and a half hour day.

I was ready for a break.

Well, yeah....

She suggested sausage, ham & bacon.
(I think that's right? Jenn? Sound right?)

Sounds good!

If I wasn't already in a
wonderful relationship
I might've asked her to marry me.

You realize you've already asked me to marry you.....

I really have to work
on my selfie skills.
It looks like we're balancing
a tomato between our heads.

And whats wrong with that?

Did you see it in this chapter?

Yes, I did. Your airline is making promises that I'm not sure you can keep.

:lmao:
I should've asked him!

Hey! If you're headed to Walmart, would you mind picking up a tube of Bengay for me?

It's one of my great
accomplishments of the
whole trip.

Betcha can't wait
to see the rest of
this TR now! :lmao:

Oh Oh

Nope. Four hours away.

I don't know why
you'd live in MN either.

:duck:

That's what Jim always says. Better than ND where our first station was. But at least we has Ryan there.

More to come! :)

Hey! That's great!
That'll be wonderful! :)

It will be great to look forward to during the long Winter that already started.

Yikes! Maybe one of these in your future? :rotfl:
6b6328fd-1bf0-4560-b42a-10afab0c83a1_1-4857700e24915ecd9755f99ec00057b4-jpeg.362169

In all seriousness.....
I could've used one!
So maybe... yes!

Nope, definitely would not do that.

Seems to be the
prevailing thought.

Beautiful! That's one thing I miss now living in the south. Our leaves down here mostly just turn brown before falling.

But you don't have
to shovel leaves...

I'm always nervous before a DIS meet but never have had a problem with conversation once I get there.

I always wonder
if it will go well or not...

And then it does. :)

Yep, your airline has offices everywhere! I will admit I spent way too much time looking at all the maps thinking there may be a pkondzville in there somewhere. :rotfl2:

Thanks for the tip!

(Now you'll keep looking,
which is a good reason
not to do it!)

"And I've hardly had any accidents!
Why just this year, I'm down to six
and only two of those did we
have to buy a new car.

Scuze me, that is the other driver on our insurance. My record is impeccable :snooty:

Which just means that the one guy I hit didn't stop so it didn't get reported

I'm betting #2 is the main reason.

You'd be right.

I don't know how that happened.
I know I read your response...

Gee, I'm really sorry Annie.
I'll do that right now.

It's ok! It was mainly selfish reasoning that I pointed it out. I thought I had some witty banter and didn't want it to go to waste.

It happens.

Nah. I'm sure no one
is doing that.

Nope, not at all.

What did you do to that poor band!!!!

It was a crazy trip for other reasons. I wasn't really surprised. But mainly all the members were pursuing other projects and wanted to focus their attentions elsewhere.

Now I want to know what you
thought the photo was?

I figured some sort of snack.

Probably not a bad habit!

I had to go back once because in my first car, since the clip had broken and there was no little rubber loop, I would leave it on my trunk. Got a little ways down the road and realized my gas door was still open. Drove back to the gas station and luckily, the cap had fallen off in the center of the double yellow line. So I was able to retrieve it. But ever since then I'm paranoid and check.

Yay! You're the king of Dismeets these days. :thumbsup2

That could be.
But I'm pretty sure
that the "May Epic Girls Meet"
will usurp me.

Yes. I have a lot of comments. But at least we know he didn't struggle putting on his shoes that morning... :rolleyes1

That was a low blow, Tracy.
All the way down to the feet,
in fact.

Not a chance! I barely go out for a run without full makeup and a coordinated outfit :rotfl2:

Guessing you don't need
the makeup, though.

Not really a guess.

Thank you! This may have been directed at me...

Wow! That's a huge improvement. I was so bummed when I learned of your back issues right before the trip. Well, I'm bummed to hear of your back issues at any point, but especially before a trip!

I was slightly bummed too.
Especially when I knew
I was going to be sitting
on my bum for a while
and unsure how my back
would like (or dislike) that.

Hey, what about me?!

Wait your turn!
I'll propose to you
in a few updates.

Yes, yes, it does. @chunkymonkey does a great job positioning her head in just the right way, too. You should see our Liberty Tree Tavern photos

Unintentional Mickey ears. ::yes::

YES!!!!!!!!!!! And I may have actually squealed a bit!

Gee! I wonder what would
happen if I'd done two photos?

Well, no I wouldn't! We were staying at a hotel a few years ago visiting my oldest at college. Someone showed up at the breakfast area in jammies. We thought that was a bit too casual even for us, and we are pretty casual!

So a hard no, then.
If this thing was an election,
there'd be a runaway winner.

Flipflops are always kicked off and slid back under driver seat for proper barefoot driving when sporting flip flops.

Another barefoot contessa.
I just could never drive
with bare feet.
Just feels.... wrong.

There are quite a few
threads out there
extolling the benefits
and dangers.

Jury seems to be out on that.

I'm an expert as I grew up in the flip flop capital (well I just made that up) of Phoenix.

It was flip flops year round!

Here too!
Provided you never
leave the house, of course.

Sounds like you have a great Dad & Dot trip planned with your DD next May!

I think so! :)

I love traveling with my DS because he and I have compatible touring philosophies! Enjoy your trip. DS and I will be there over the dreaded spring break timeframe. I just hope it's warmer this year than last year!

I heard how bad it was last year.
Since we'll be there around the
same time, I'm hoping
it'll be warmer too.

But not surface of the sun hot, though.

No worries! Glad I could help you find your word

:goodvibes

Funny after reading about your deer sighting we were admiring three bucks lying in a yard on our way to work this morning. We almost didn’t see the one that wandered out in front of our car while we were looking at the others. Sneaky little suckers.

Yep. That's why I had to
slam on the breaks.
"Where is it? Where is it? Where... HOLY CRAP!"

Oh... went back to look at your photos more closely. My eyes only seem to work “occasionally”.

;)

Yes they are! :)

If I come up there, can I get a tour?

:goodvibes Of course you can!!

Actually you seem to be pretty good at them!

You think so?
I'm still a rookie.

Yeah, I could agree with you there. I haven't had to do it for years, but I do remember having to do that.

It doesn't get any easier
or any more pleasant.

I'm not sure I would go so far to agree with you here. I do it all the time, but I also go back to sleep.

 Yes you do!

Knowing you, you probably liked it.

Well...

We're talking about just
the waking, right?

So... The alarm goes off.
I groan and am not happy.
But then I start thinking
of the adventures ahead
and any reluctance rapidly
fades away.

This is why I can't do solo trips, Fran needs help.

I know.

Does it have "make them yourself waffles?" That's my test of a good breakfast!

Well...
Here's the thing.
They (or most of them) do.
But I'm not a fan, so I don't
make them.
The kids have... and they didn't
like the taste of them.
Not sure why.

No.

Good point!
It's not your home.
It's not an extension
of your room.

He!!'s to the no!

So I'll put you down
as a firm "maybe".

Huh. Fran and I always go to the auto club and get "real" maps for where we are going in addition to following Google Maps.

I did that too. :)

Which is why we like to consult real maps.

::yes::

Nice, we get that in about 3-4 months.

Oh? Do I know about this?
Where are you going?

We have a pasty shop here as well!

uv

Evidently that image didn't work.

No it didn't.
But I'm surprised you have
one there!

What? It's doused in Gravy! How do you pick that up and eat it?

You don't.
You eat it with a knife and fork.
But I imagine without that,
you could pick it up.
I wanted gravy.
So...

Sounds good!

Turns out I was wrong.
It was sausage, bacon and meat balls.

And was really good.

You realize you've already asked me to marry you.....

And you didn't say yes.
I'm not getting any younger
you know.
I can't wait forever.

Someday I'm gonna ask
someone and they'll say "Yes".

Then I'll stop asking.

And whats wrong with that?

Some people do wine bottles.
I do tomatoes.

Yes, I did. Your airline is making promises that I'm not sure you can keep.

Sure it can.
Occasionally doesn't imply "frequently".

Hey! If you're headed to Walmart, would you mind picking up a tube of Bengay for me?

Well, I did once bring
a bunch of tubes
of muscle cream
with me to a DISmeet.
(It's OTC here but
either unavailable or
prescription there.)

That's what Jim always says. Better than ND where our first station was. But at least we has Ryan there.

I think any State is
probably less dull
than North Dakota.

Holy dulls-ville.

It will be great to look forward to during the long Winter that already started.

Ugh... It's snowing
right now.

Yuck.

Scuze me, that is the other driver on our insurance. My record is impeccable :snooty:

Uh huh...

Which just means that the one guy I hit didn't stop so it didn't get reported

There it is!

It's ok! It was mainly selfish reasoning that I pointed it out. I thought I had some witty banter and didn't want it to go to waste.

I'm glad you did.
I often will catch up
and post "Did I miss anyone?"
but didn't this time.

Should have.

Nope, not at all.

See?

It was a crazy trip for other reasons. I wasn't really surprised. But mainly all the members were pursuing other projects and wanted to focus their attentions elsewhere.

Sounds like an interesting trip!

I figured some sort of snack.

Ah!
Funny you should mention that.

… in two chapters I think.

Yeah, I can see that happening
once and that being enough.

There it is!

Honestly I forget it happened sometimes. And I'll say something about never being in an accident. And then Joe says "What about the guy you rear-ended?" Oh, yeah, that....

Sounds like an interesting trip!

It was definitely interesting. Went with a friend, didn't hear from her until after midnight the night before we were supposed to leave to confirm that she was even still going, issues with her ticket, left my car remote in the lobby of the hotel and realized it when we got to the concert, then had to call my parents for gas money to get back......Don't get me wrong, I was glad I went. But I was equally glad to get home and be done with it.

Honestly I forget it happened sometimes. And I'll say something about never being in an accident. And then Joe says "What about the guy you rear-ended?" Oh, yeah, that....

 Oh, yeah, that.... :lmao:

Went with a friend, didn't hear from her until after midnight the night before we were supposed to leave to confirm that she was even still going

:sad2:

left my car remote in the lobby of the hotel and realized it when we got to the concert

Oh, no...

then had to call my parents for gas money to get back.

 Isn't that a right of passage?

But I was equally glad to get home and be done with it.

I bet!

Hope everyone had a good Halloween!
We were slightly down from
our average this year.
I suspect due to the cold.

Down to 120 from a norm of about 150.

Still, I always love seeing the kiddos.
And even Luna got into the spirit.

Working on the next update.
Might be a few days, still. :)
Might be sooner.
