Canadian Buffoon's Back to Front Vacation - Update! 05/18 - Falling Down

I wandered around for a bit
taking a photo or two
along the way.

Your photos are beautiful!

Better than Saskatchewan,
but... not by a whole lot.

Not quite as flat.

IMG_0595_zpscrob0cem.jpg

Lovely!

Now that's more like it!

Yes!!!

Pretty... but I think I preferred
my first view.
Dunno. Close one.

I like the photo taken at a distance better.

Did you see it in this chapter?

I did! He blends in.

One thing I do remember is last
update's challenge to see if you
could find all fifteen "islands"
in the Zen, or stone garden.

yup! I did see them all!

I just thought a park called
Falls Park, would offer some
interesting sights.

Perhaps...then again maybe not.

I wandered around for a bit
taking a photo or two
along the way.

Some of those are rather nice!

Just... with a name like
"Falls" park... I expected
something a bit more dramatic.

You expected to find the Maid in the Mist? :confused3

For about the next three
hours, my view was similar
to this:

Yawn....

I parked the car along with
several hundred of my
nearest and dearest friends
and sashayed off in search
of adventure.

Or just one special friend.....

Pretty... but I think I preferred
my first view.

I agree.

It'd taken me three days
of long driving, but I'd
finally arrived...

In the wrong city.

But... I did have my reasons...

I'm guessing that I know the reason.

Did you see it in this chapter?

Yes I did! Did I mention a special friend?

Your photos are beautiful!

Thanks, Vanessa! :)

Not quite as flat.

Almost.
Nothing is as flat as
Saskatchewan.

Shocked that all the
flat-Earthers don't come
from around the globe
to live there.

::yes::

I like the photo taken at a distance better.

(Don't tell anyone...
I do too.)

I did! He blends in.

;)

yup! I did see them all!

I thought you had. :)

Perhaps...then again maybe not.

Maybe instead of "Falls" park
it should've been "Fails" park.

Perhaps a typo?

Some of those are rather nice!

Thank you! :)

You expected to find the Maid in the Mist? :confused3

A soggy trollop?

Very much so.

Or just one special friend.....

I was pretty baffled by
this comment until I read
your last one.

(don't tell anyone...
but... I think so.)

I'm guessing that I know the reason.

Oh?
What do you think it is?

Yes I did! Did I mention a special friend?

Now I understand.

Could you pop over to the
Boardwalk area in the
afternoon?
That's about the only
way it'd work.
Otherwise...
Some other time! :)

Bummer…I don't think our plans will cross this time :sad2: We have FP at the MK and then have kind of a narrow window to meet up with the group at 2. If things change or if we end up over that way, I'll let you know :-)

I wandered around for a bit
taking a photo or two
along the way.

Perfect, I love that your picture plus the reflection makes a circle

I did have a nice chat with a local
who told me that if I'd come
at a different time, the dam
gates would've been more open
and the almost empty gorge
I saw would've been filled
to capacity.

Ah well. Dam'd if you do,
dam'd if you don't.

:rotfl2:

I followed along the
Columbia river;
Mt. Hood hove into sight.

Wait... or was that Mt. Hove
was hooded from sight...

No, I'm almost positive
I had it right the first time.

Steel trap, people!

IMG_0595_zpscrob0cem.jpg

What a sight!

But then I got a little closer.
The view expanded,
angels sang.
I stopped sashaying
and looked on in wonder.

Now that's more like it!

Gorgeous! Now THAT is a Waterfall ::yes::

It'd taken me three days
of long driving, but I'd
finally arrived...

In the wrong city.

Seems about right :confused3

Coming up: The reasons

Can't wait to hear!

Bummer…I don't think our plans will cross this time :sad2: We have FP at the MK and then have kind of a narrow window to meet up with the group at 2. If things change or if we end up over that way, I'll let you know :-)

Well, poop.
Guess we'll just have
to go back again!

Perfect, I love that your picture plus the reflection makes a circle

Thanks for noticing.
I did that on purpose. :)

What a sight!

::yes::

And... I'm not sure, but...
That may be my first
volcano I've seen in the
continental US.

Gorgeous! Now THAT is a Waterfall ::yes::

::yes::

Seems about right :confused3

Hey!

:lmao:

Can't wait to hear!

Next chapter! :)

I'm behind by a few updates, trying to do some catch up today. This reply is for the "Turning Japanese" post.

as the skies were looking a tad...

Tornado-y.

:scared1:

When I was directly beside her,
she decided that it was finally
time to change lanes.

Of course she did because it was you driving and we know your crazy record on the road. :rotfl2:

The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden.

Total surprise here...... NOT!

You've been reading these
things for how long
and this surprises you???

I was as surprised as you are every time I buy something Pluto.

I must admit to a little photoshop
trickery in the preceding photo.

I would not have guessed that at all!

Are you constipated?"

OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!
STOP! JUST STOP! ENOUGH!

"Sure... why not." I reply.
He nodded and said. "I understand, son."
He then handed me a box of Ex-Lax.
"Take these. Just make sure
you're where you want to be
for the night, first."

:rotfl:

I did what any sane
individual would do
and got both, of course.

Of course! Both look yummy although I probably would have gone with chocolate gelato.

Did you see it in this chapter?

Yep, Marvin sure seems to like fish.

Enjoying following along on your road trip - my favorite type of vacation! Loved the photos of Multnomah Falls! We were there last Nov. but I think there was more water flowing when you were there. It's a beautiful photo stop!

I'm pretty sure we have our meet up secured for May 3rd after mine (but before your) BOG ADR but here's my plans for the days we overlap! We must at least do a quick meet during this trip.

I'm also not planning to do a PTR but I will most likely do a quick post on my TR if I ever get back over there to update it.

April 30th.
We arrive at MCO a little after noon.
We plan on taking it easy until we
can check in then head for MK.
We have FPs and an ADR for dinner there.

I fly in this night but don't land till around 8 pm. My plans consist of DME to POP and crashing for the night.

May 1st.
Rope drop DHS and spend
the morning there.
Then we hop over to AK
where we have FPs and ADRs
starting at 3pm.

I'm doing Epcot in the morning with lunch ADR at Tutto Italia. Then I'm hoping to MK for the evening for the HEA Dessert party.

May 2nd.
Epcot. Rope drop.
All day long.
'Nuff said.

This day is split between AK and DHS. Lunch at Tiffins, Star Wars Dessert party that night.

May 3rd.
MK. Also all day long.

Jackie (@missjackiemcg ) and I will be at MK most of the day too. I think we should be able to meet up around the times of our BOG ADRs, we can iron out the details in a PM. We are planning on leaving MK around 3-3:30 to head to Trader Sam's and then O'Hana dinner.

May 4th.
<sigh>
I messed up big time.
I reasoned that we would
not likely be able to ride SDD,
even with rope drop on May 1st.
At least not without a significant
period of standing in line.
(I could be wrong)
So... I stupidly made FPs for
DHS on May The Fourth.
I can't even imagine how
stupidly crowded it will be.
We may not do this,
but that's the plans as of now.
We have to check out that day
as that will be our last Disney day.

We are starting at DHS also, mainly for "May the 4th." Group lunch at Sci Fi then hopping to Epcot for our epic eat/drink party around WS.

Whew, made it to the most recent update. I didn't quote a whole lot this time, I think I was just mesmerized by the photos. ::yes::

I wandered around for a bit
taking a photo or two
along the way.

Beautiful! Green and no rain, something we have been lacking down here in Atlanta for a bit. It's rained for the last 7 weekends! We have had some sun the last few days but it's a brief respite before the rain comes again this weekend. :crazy2:

Pretty... but I think I preferred
my first view.
Dunno. Close one.

Yep, definitely prefer the first view. The lower falls is just spectacular.

Did you see it in this chapter?

Not the first time through, had to go back. Marvin was a bit sneaky in that photo.

Strainer?
No... not quite...
Sieve! Yeah! Sieve!
That's it.

A sieve...

An aluminum sieve.

Can't get anything past you!

Oh, wait...

Ah. I did see that one, but I wasn't sure if it counted since it wasn't in the same "box" as the others.

I have to admit to being...
well... a bit disappointed.
It was an okay enough park...
Just... with a name like
"Falls" park... I expected
something a bit more dramatic.

Maybe Trickle Park would be more apt.

I did have a nice chat with a local
who told me that if I'd come
at a different time, the dam
gates would've been more open
and the almost empty gorge
I saw would've been filled
to capacity.

Oh, well. Best dam photo you could get, I suppose.

How could it not?
82 < 84.
Simple math.

Makes sense to me!

Gorgeous view.

I arrived at Multnomah Falls, OR.

Yes! Can't wait to see it this summer.

Absolutely stunning!

Pretty... but I think I preferred
my first view.
Dunno. Close one.

I agree. The second drop and the bridge make it more unique. They add beauty to the view.

After seeing enough water
to make me feel like
I needed to pee,
I headed back down.

Uhh... hold that thought.
Be right back...

:rotfl2: Ok, everyone take 5 minutes!

I find that when I scale
these hills and then
descend, I tend to like
gravity about 50%
of the time.
Not sure why.

It would be 100% if they would just put in elevators everywhere.

Did you see it in this chapter?

Yes, but is he waiting for a ticket or the bathroom?

I'm behind by a few updates

What the heck, Ariana!!!!

;)

Appearances can be deceiving.
In this case... just a thunderstorm. :)

Of course she did because it was you driving and we know your crazy record on the road. :rotfl2:

:rolleyes1

Was thinking about that, actually.
Who is more likely to have an accident
(or close call). Someone who drives
over several thousand miles or
someone who does under a thousand?

Total surprise here...... NOT!

:rolleyes1

I was as surprised as you are every time I buy something Pluto.

:lmao:

Touché!

I would not have guessed that at all!

Good! That was the intent. :)

Of course! Both look yummy although I probably would have gone with chocolate gelato.

For some reason, whenever
I get gelato, it's never chocolate.
Not really sure why not. Odd.

Yep, Marvin sure seems to like fish.

He's a little fishy sometimes.

I'm pretty sure we have our meet up secured for May 3rd after mine (but before your) BOG ADR but here's my plans for the days we overlap! We must at least do a quick meet during this trip.

Yes we must!

I'm also not planning to do a PTR but I will most likely do a quick post on my TR if I ever get back over there to update it.

Ok, sounds good. :)

I fly in this night but don't land till around 8 pm. My plans consist of DME to POP and crashing for the night.

I`m not sure how late
we'll be up on the 30th.
Our flight leaves at 5am...
Which means we'll be there
at 3am... ish.

I'm doing Epcot in the morning with lunch ADR at Tutto Italia. Then I'm hoping to MK for the evening for the HEA Dessert party.

Nope. Totally missing you there.
Sounds like a pretty good day, though. :)

This day is split between AK and DHS. Lunch at Tiffins, Star Wars Dessert party that night.

Another miss. Enjoy Tiffins!
Heard so much good about it. :)

I think I`m going to send out a group
PM in a few days. So far it looks like
I've got possible meets with you,
Su-Lynn, Doc and Kari.

We are starting at DHS also, mainly for "May the 4th." Group lunch at Sci Fi then hopping to Epcot for our epic eat/drink party around WS.

I think this day would be tough.
Pretty sure we're going to get in
and get out fairly quickly.
Ride a few rides (yes, have FPs)
then lunch then out.
But... maybe?

Whew, made it to the most recent update. I didn't quote a whole lot this time, I think I was just mesmerized by the photos. ::yes::

I didn't write a whole lot. :)

Beautiful! Green and no rain, something we have been lacking down here in Atlanta for a bit. It's rained for the last 7 weekends! We have had some sun the last few days but it's a brief respite before the rain comes again this weekend. :crazy2:

I haven't seen rain in months.
Snow, yes. But rain? Not so much.

Yep, definitely prefer the first view. The lower falls is just spectacular.

This seems to be the consensus. :)

Not the first time through, had to go back. Marvin was a bit sneaky in that photo.

;)

Enjoying following along on your road trip

Thanks! :)

my favorite type of vacation!

Mine too.
Sometimes time constraints dictate
that you fly, but...
I do love seeing the country.

Loved the photos of Multnomah Falls!

Thanks!
Gorgeous waterfall. :)

We were there last Nov. but I think there was more water flowing when you were there. It's a beautiful photo stop!

This was in early July.
Maybe still from spring
runoff?

Can't get anything past you!

Oh, wait...

I don't get it.

Ah. I did see that one, but I wasn't sure if it counted since it wasn't in the same "box" as the others.

It is, actually.
The entire garden, including that
darker section is all enclosed on
four sides.
The building being most of one side.

Maybe Trickle Park would be more apt.

Oh, well. Best dam photo you could get, I suppose.

Dam right!

Makes sense to me!

Math.

Gorgeous view.

Isn't it? You could see that mountain
from... a lot of places.

More to say on that, next chapter.

Yes! Can't wait to see it this summer.

You'll like it, I think.
Say hi to @Steppesister when
you're there.
Looks like I'm just missing her
in May.

Absolutely stunning!

Gorgeous, isn't it?
One of the nicer ones
I've ever seen.

I agree. The second drop and the bridge make it more unique. They add beauty to the view.

I think so too.
And, so far, so does
everyone else.

:rotfl2: Ok, everyone take 5 minutes!

But please make it
the same 5 minutes!

It would be 100% if they would just put in elevators everywhere.

Or escalators. I'm not fussy.

Yes, but is he waiting for a ticket or the bathroom?

Water, water, everywhere.

If you don't see it... you have to
keep looking.
Maybe that's the point?
Reminds me of a quote I like from the movie Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (I may have mentioned this somewhere before)
"In the end, everything will be all right, so if everything is not all right, it simply means you are not yet at the end"

I followed along the
Columbia river;
Mt. Hood hove into sight.
I heard of Mt. Hood but I don't believe I have ever seen a picture of Mt. Hood. Nice!

Pretty... but I think I preferred
my first view.
Dunno. Close one.
I like the first view too. Of course both are nice.

But... I did have my reasons...
Hmmm...I can't think of a single one...
(I'm thinking I know, but I could also be wrong)

Did you see it in this chapter?
I did, although it took a second look.

Reminds me of a quote I like from the movie Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (I may have mentioned this somewhere before)
"In the end, everything will be all right, so if everything is not all right, it simply means you are not yet at the end"

I like it!
I still haven't seen the movie.
I have it recorded... but haven't
gotten to it yet.

I heard of Mt. Hood but I don't believe I have ever seen a picture of Mt. Hood. Nice!

Now you have seen a small
photo of Mt. Hood.
Perhaps I will have more
photos of Mt. Hood, since
I was in the neighborhood.

I like the first view too. Of course both are nice.

I think everyone thinks
so too. :)

Hmmm...I can't think of a single one...
(I'm thinking I know, but I could also be wrong)

What are you thinking?

I did, although it took a second look.

;)
