Canadian Buffoon's Back to Front Vacation - Update! 05/18 - Falling Down

Sorry for the delays.
Had a bit of a mishap
that is slowing me down,
somewhat.

Typing with one hand sucks.
Uh oh... hope you're back to full strength in no time!

Yep, that's me.
Why take the short way
when you van drive miles
out of your way?
Makes sense to me! Especially when some of those miles take you to Corning

oooohhh.... You is much smarter than I am!
Not my first rodeo

Yes, I...

Hey!
:rotfl:

 Good for you!
::yes:: BUT! That's not an invitation to make them harder...

Oh no - did you slip on ice and snow? Is anything broken? *worried*
No. Burned my hand pretty good.
Only 2nd degree though,
so should be fine.

Really enjoyed the Japanese Garden segment, absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks!

And... :welcome: to the TR!

you are genuinely hilarious

I get all my material from
my dogs. They're the brains
behind the whole thing.

I can't wait to see the rest.

Next chapter already
in the works. :)

Really enjoyed the Japanese Garden segment, absolutely gorgeous!

Oh! Great!
Glad you liked it. :)
If you stick around,
I'll have another one
to show you. :)

I got out of my car and replaced
the dangling gas cap.

:rotfl2: 1. I'm assuming that your dangling gas cap was in full view as you got in your car to drive away. 2. You need to update your car to a newer model with no gas cap to avoid this kind of embarrassment.

I saw chips for other places?

Did you look for any from locations that were out of chips when you visited?

I can't say which was better,
that's like comparing apples to oranges.

:sad2:

This one looked like it had
once been an apartment block.
And not a particularly new one.

Were you hoping that you were at the wrong hotel again?

I fell asleep wondering if
my car would still be there
in the morning.

Did you consider moving on to another hotel?

Yes! That's the one.

Did you stay here place before or after?

Possibly the last time I stay there.

Possibly?

Loose gas cap.

:rotfl2:

I found a good one in
Toronto...
And didn't have the time
to go last time I was there.

You were too busy hitting up every ice cream/gelato place you could find.

Well, at least you made it to the right hotel this time... ;)

:rotfl: I'm sure he was regretting that.

No. Burned my hand pretty good.
Only 2nd degree though,
so should be fine.

Hope it is back to normal soon. I'm sure the ladies are pitching in with taking care of the snow and ice duties.

Yes. DW's car has that
and it's really nice.

Did you look for any from locations that were out of chips when you visited?

Nope.
Unfortiunately, I've visited so many now
that I don't remember the few that
didn't have any.

:rolleyes1

Were you hoping that you were at the wrong hotel again?

Thought actually did
cross my mind.
Honest!

Did you consider moving on to another hotel?

No, not really.
It would've involved
time and research and...
I was pretty tired by then.

Did you stay here place before or after?

I think Mark stayed here first.

Possibly?

Probably.

You were too busy hitting up every ice cream/gelato place you could find.

A worthy pursuit, no?

:rotfl: I'm sure he was regretting that.

:sad2:

Luckily, it's been too cold to snow.
(-32C/-26F right now)
But the kids did make dinner tonight,
which was much appreciated.

Yikes, hope things heal up quickly!
Looked pretty good when
they changed the dressing
this afternoon.
Was told to change the
dressing a couple more days
and that should be good.

Will take a while longer for it
to heal completely of course.
Not sure if there'll be scarring,
but don't think so.

I think Mark stayed here first.

I'm hoping your stay occurred before he posted about his experience. Otherwise....:sad2:

Probably.

How about a hard no? There are many decent hotels out there.

A worthy pursuit, no?

Of course....but since you pointed out there was an option of good pie, I don't think you maximized your opportunity for pie AND ice cream.

Luckily, it's been too cold to snow.

Holy moly.....I've been freezing with our cold/rainy (I may have melted a little) spell....we got down to the 40's. :duck:

But the kids did make dinner tonight,

That's very nice of them.

Nope.
But I had no idea before I booked it
that it was the same place.

okay, okay...

;)

You're right.
Epic fail.

The horror.

No. Burned my hand pretty good.

Only! Hope you are "feeling better" soon. It sucks when you can't tell if your touching soft or rough stuff.
Seriously though, how did you do this???

Luckily, it's been too cold to snow.

Were giving you a run for your money here in Ohio this weekend. We are experiencing -16F (-26C) and tonight it is suppose to get to -23F (-30C). Sucks though, we got the snow first so we are under a level 3 snow emergency. (In case you don't know what that is https://www.weathersafety.ohio.gov/snowemergencyclassifications.aspx ). We only got about 8 inches of snow, but we also got a nice 1/2 inch layer of freezing rain right before that snow so we have that on top of all the blizzard wind conditions causing the snow to drift. Snow plows can't keep up with the main roads let alone even think about trying to touch the side roads.

I had a frying pan in a 450 degree oven.
I took it out and removed the chicken.
I was doing a bunch of other stuff
(chicken, cedar plank salmon, roast
cauliflower, carrots and potatoes)
and grabbed the pan handle with my
bare hand to rinse off the pan.
I pretty much never put frying pans
in the oven, but this one had a metal
handle so I could.

The link doesn't work for me.
(And it's the right link... just... :confused3)
But I Googled.

So... you aren't going anywhere.
I hope you're home
and snuggled up under a nice
warm blanket!

Ugh. That's really not good at all.

Hang in there and please stay safe!
(and warm!)

If you do go to Starved Rock, there are several waterfalls, actually. You can get to one or two in a short time, but most people do it as a day trip, or stay overnight. Some of the hiking is more challenging than others. I forget if that particular waterfall was accessed by one of the trails that was officially closed (due to a bridge being out) but accessible via scrambling around an alternate route, so to speak. That was also during the pouring rain, tho that part is not necessary for the experience! It gets pretty crowded on weekends, since it is convenient from Chicago, but dh and I went on a Thursday-Friday and it was a lot more manageable.
I love that park, haven’t been in years. Now you’ve given me an idea for a weekend trip this summer.
