After my most recent trip, last week, it seems to me that the Campers at the Fort are getting less considerate of others. I cannot tell you how many times we noticed folks driving the wrong way in the loops with golf carts. You're in a cart for goodness sakes, you can't be bothered to drive your cart for an additional 30 seconds to get safely out of the loop? Very frustrating. Saw people washing their campers all over the place. Even had an issue with woman bringing her son into the shower rooms. Our neighbors did this repeatedly. Now, let me say that I am not sure whether or not this young man was "autistic" but I suppose that is possible. However, a boy of 11 or 12 should be showering with his Father if he needs supervision. If he does have special needs, where do you draw the line, when he's 16, 17, or 18? And, he should definitely not be allowed to run into the ladies shower room and start looking under the stalls to see if they are empty. This happened twice. In this particular case, the young man should have gone into the men's room with his father who was also showering at the same time. I didn't care for this at all. I was quite uncomfortable showering with this young man in the next shower stall. I believe this should have been handled very differently by his parents.

In general, it seems that the rules are quite loose at the Fort and the usual considerate campers are giving way to people who act selfishly and unsafely. Just sayin'

Did u approach the mother and tell her that you were in the shower and that her son was looking under the stalls? Also never assume that there would be a father or another Male camping. Keeping children under control and all need to respect the privacy of others whether in a bathroom or even in the campground in general. If a child had a disability doesnt mean that the parents shouldnt be held accountable. The child may not understand but I do agree with your frustration on age and privacy in the bathroom. We have a "local" campground, Knoebles resort and they have individual lockable shower stalls. An actual full door which I think is great. Maybe disney will one day have these or even a family type facility for situations like you mentioned so things like that wont happen. The cast members i dont think would do much, so next time, no matter where you are, to take it upon yourself and talk to the parent. Hopefully they wont be defensive and be more understanding of your needs also. But do know, camping anywhere, even at disney, it is not going to remove certain types of people. Just smile and camp on!!:squirrel:

I did not approach the mother because I was already in the shower. And I did not assume that there was a male because I was very much aware of the family because they were camped directly next to us. I did personally witness Dad go in the shower with the 4 year old and Mom took the 12 year old. I think maybe the other way round would have worked better.

Perhaps the boy was not the child of the man (blended family). It sounds like the campgrounds needs family bathrooms for this sort of circumstance, or for when an adult with special needs requires the assistance of a carer in the bath.

Yes, I would have had a word with the parents if my wife came out after showering with my young daughters and told me that.

I know there are certain situations that are beyond the parent's control (i.e. individual family showers) etc, but there has to be a cutoff. A 4 year old boy showering with his mom is a much different thing than an 11 year old showering with his mom.

Some sort of family or companion bathroom sounds like a great idea, don't think it'll happen but who knows?

Apparently nothing happened so what exactly was the problem? What exactly is a boy of 11 or 12 going to do, especially when escorted by a guardian?

I'm here NOW and have seen NO rules violations and everyone has been wonderful.

Based on your posts, I don't think you're cut out for camping.

Since we already have a recent thread on this subject I am closing this one.
