Somebody mentioned that it doesn't always IMMEDIATELY happen, but the application periodically updates then sends them back (Thursdays?). I don't know if that's always the case but it did do that for me.
You can actually ask the CM to get a supervisor approval to do this immediately. When I cancelled, the CM gave me the option without me even asking, and had me refresh while on the phone to see that the points went back to the 2021 use year.
