Sorry for all the questions with a month to go I've gone into panic - I've been reading Simons book, but Its not sinking in - doesn't seen quite so real as WDW, maybe because I only went for a day many many years ago so don't really know what to expect.

Do we need to book before we go? :confused3

We would like to do a character meal - where is best to go? we would like to do both Evening & breakfast - not on the same day though!

Buffalo Bills - Not to sure Molly would like this (as she's only 2 1/2) but I quite fancy it as something different. Do we need to book this before we go? I wanted to see how she was with loud bangs before I commit to anything - would it be the end of the world if we didn't do it?

Katy (getting just a little excited now!) :cheer2:

Hi Katy,

I would think you will be fine to leave making meal reservations until you get there. There will be a concierge desk at your hotel you can make them at which is very convenient.

I've not been to Buffalo Bill's so can't comment but I when I went to DLRP last I didn't do it and I can't say I felt I missed out, LOL.

Options for character meals would include Cafe Mickey (which is in Disney Village) and is the only one I've done. I was very underwhelmed with the food and character interraction but I think I was just unlucky as everyone else speaks very highly of it :)

I've done character dinner at Café Mickey with my two young cousins in 2004. You do need to book but we didn't book til we got there so don't worry - just have an idea of where you want to do the character breakfasts/dinners and book at the concierge desk at your hotel! I thought it was great at Café Mickey... I really enjoyed the food and there were plenty of characters who were very fair about going around and seeing all the children. I'm pretty sure the kids got some kind of souvenier cup with their meal too which was really nice. It is quite expensive but for everything you get its probably worth it.

Hi

We've tried the character breakfasts at Walt's and Cafe Mickey and both were great. At Cafe Mickey there is an unbelievable amount of food, both hot and cold - cereals, croissants, bread, yoghurts, cakes, fruit, sausage, bacon etc etc and you can have as much as you like. At Walt's it's unlimited yoghurt, cereal, fruit, bread etc and 1 cooked meal each. Both are great for character interaction although at Cafe Mickey some parents tend to let their kids run up to the characters while they're going round the tables so it takes a bit longer for the characters to get to you (but they do go round to every table), whereas in Walt's everyone stayed seated and waited for the characters to come to them. Both breakfasts wre great.

We've had the character lunch at Lucky Nugget Saloon in Frontierland - a HUGE amount of food. It's Tex Mex so it's chilli, ribs etc but also has pizza, chicken nuggets, pasta etc as well as desserts. You pay for drinks separately but it's still great value for money and good character interaction.

We've also done the character meal at Cafe Mickey in the evening - rather than a buffet you pick your meal from a menu so I suppose the food isn't quite such good value for money but we really enjoyed our meals and loved the atmosphere.

There's also the character meal at Inventions in the Disneyland Hotel, which we haven't tried. I gather it's quite expensive, hopefully someone else can tell you whether it's worth it.

Any more questions, just ask - as we always say no question is a silly one and someone here will always know the answer!

Buffalo Bills - would it be the end of the world if we didn't do it?

In my humble opinion - No!!! We went on our first visit to DLP - and I've managed to enjoy four further visits without seeing it again!! It seems to be here to stay and I think it would probably be worth waiting until your DD was a bit older.

You can phone the restaurants direct up to 2 months before you travel if you want to book in advance. Although we have always booked when we get there.

Character breakfast in both Cafe Mickey and Walts is excellent.

We enjoyed Buffalo Bills on last summer visit, but would probably not go again for a couple of years.

I always book my meals in advance, so I don't have to worry about it while I'm there. The only problem with this is that the reservations centre is located in France, and I've occassionally had a few language difficulties.

I've done the character dinners at Cafe Mickey and the Lucky Nugget. I loved Cafe Mickey, the food was delicious, and we had a nice leasurely meal, and got eight or nine characters, including Mickey and Minnie. We weren't as impressed with the Lucky Nugget, there are set sittings, so we were ushered in and out in an hour, the buffet food was quite poor (although I've read fairly good reviews, so maybe we had an off day), and we had 4 characters, one of whom none of us even recognised! (We later found out it was one of the Country Bears :earboy2: )

Just about to go on our 5th visit to DLP and have never been to Buffolo Bills and don't intend to go this time either.

It definately won't spoil your holiday if you don't go. If interested I'd wait until your DD was older.

We are two 55+ disney fans from the states looking forward to our Character Breakfast at Walts on May 19th. This will be our first visit to DLP. We booked thru a Disney TA specialist who made ressies thru Walt Disney Travel Co and they made the reservation for us.
