Best shelling beach Canaveral National Seashore or Shell Key by Tampa?

We want to take a day trip from Orlando with our son to find cool shells. We are going over next week and we are so excited!

I've always found nicer shells on the west coast of Florida. East coast seems to only be small shells and the bigger ones (very few) are usually broken from the rough surf.
