BEST. DAY. EVER. May '17 w/Chunkymonkey and Chubbyhubby NEW 8/28 x2 THE END!!

I just read all of your trip report today and I really enjoyed your perspective. I also enjoyed your outfits for the parks. You looked so cute each day. You looked like a model in one of your PP pictures, with your hair blowing in the wind.

Have a great trip! Looking forward to reading all about your adventures.

Thank you!! We just returned. It was a very different trip than May's for sure.

Phew! Finally caught up!
Enjoyed all of it!

Must say... Pandora looks pretty jaw drop spectacular. Can't wait to see it!

Thank you pkondz!!
Pandora is amazing. Never ceases to amaze me each time I see it, and we went there about 4 times this past week.

And I'd like to thank myself for this connection... :rolleyes1

Thank you Tracy! It was so great seeing you twice this past weekend! I hope you're having fun in WDW right now!! I'm so jelly of your solo trip, LOL.

Nice when you're not sad about leaving Disney when you have another trip coming up soon!

It is! We're actually going back in 2 weeks, mostly to universal but spending like a day and a half at Disney and doing some Food and Wine booths sort of as a teaser to our longer trip in October/Nov. You guys must be excited too! Can't wait to meet up in October!

Quick question-it's more regarding the cruise, but I know you are done with that TR! For your sister who shared the room, did the couch just turn into a twin bed, or fold out to a full bed? How comfy was it for an adult? I'm close to convincing my sister and her boyfriend to go on a cruise with me as the third wheel!

Hi Lesley! The couch pulled out into a twin-sized bed. Maybe just slightly larger than a twin. My sister found it comfortable. I hope this helps! And the ship has a lot of stuff going on so we weren't in the room all that much to be honest. Hope you do get to go on the cruise as it's so much fun!

I just read all of your trip report today and I really enjoyed your perspective. I also enjoyed your outfits for the parks. You looked so cute each day. You looked like a model in one of your PP pictures, with your hair blowing in the wind.

Thank you so much for reading and for the comments!
Aww thank you. I am far from a model but it was a great trip and I think it reflected in all my pictures. This past trip though was completely different. We all just looked...hot and sweaty most of the time!

Hi everyone! I just got back from our August family trip, which was both exhausting and fun at the same time, but isn't every trip? Before I start that TR, I wanted to share a post with some pictures from our late May trip to Pandora. I already shared my first impressions of Pandora, so this is all the other stuff and things we ate that weekend!

May 18 and 19th - Arrival and Day 1 Part 1 - Epcot

We arrived late the night of the 18th and spent the night again at the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport. It has become a bit of a ritual for us just so we can get immediate rest after getting off the plane and then get a head start the next day by taking ME early in the morning. ME the next day was just as crowded as it was in early May:

Yay! However un-crowded it was, we did have to wait a while for an ME bus to show up. Sigh. But we were two of just a handful of people on the bus.

Our room was just off the first floor right near the bus stops, it was very convenient but no savannah view. It's ok though as it was just for two nights.

After SE, DH went to F&G festival center to attend one of the seminars they were having. I think he did this back in early May too, but he had a good time, he even bought one of the books the presenter wrote about growing home gardens. We ran into the presenter and her husband at Epcot later that day too. She signed the book for DH too. :)

While Steve was in the presentation, I went around by myself. Solo time! I brought back my popcorn bucket from early May and I got my refill of crack popcorn throughout the trip.

Looking back at these pictures, I kinda miss my long hair. Don't get me wrong, the short hair is much easier to maintain but the style I have right now is a bob that is cut more for straight styling, and I prefer my long curls even though it takes me some time to do. I did spend most of last week with my hair up though, it was just sooo hot! #slavetomyhair

I went to get the Disney Visa picture by myself again. No hand holding this time, but Mickey and Goofy were just as sweet.

It was really hot that day, so much different from early May. We were so glad to sit inside the air conditioned seating area, and it was empty as well. Unfortunately just last week while in the August heat at Mexico, the seating area was closed. WHAT!? So we ate nachos in the heat. Thank goodness for ice cold margaritas!

We made our way towards the middle of World Showcase. We stopped to get the burnt ends brisket has thing at USA which I enjoyed in early May. Although my dish this time was still tasty, it wasn't as good as the one I had in early May.

We had FP for Figment and Soarin' so we parted ways and went back to Future World - with the plan to meet up again later on that evening at MK.

We happened to catch the boat service to Future World which was pretty cool as it allowed us to escape the heat a little.

After we rode Figment and Soarin' we had to ride LWTL. Of course as you ride through the greenhouse in the heat you really feel it, so Steve had to wear his cooling headband for the ride.

RIP Express Bus Transportation. This past week in August was the last full week of service before announcing they were ending it effective August 23rd. It broke my heart. We were so spoiled by it. Now I have to rethink all my plans for future trips and cut down the amount of park hopping. Which is not really a bad thing, as I think I can take more afternoon breaks, but I really loved park hopping so easily and we could make every FP+ and every show we wanted to in every park. Waaaah.

When we got to MK, I changed into a grey Ariel t-shirt, and soon I was on my favorite ride again...

I did have to get a snack for myself though...the famous shrimp that I just about died over two weeks before.
Huh, for some reason that shrimp looks familiar to me :scratchin

Whoo hoo for DISmeets :cheer2: We so enjoyed meeting up with you guys here and everywhere

RIP Express Bus Transportation.
:littleangel::sad1: So disappointed when I heard this.

lol! We saw SM with the lights while riding Peoplemover for the first time in May also; we were riding with @MeghanEmily and here NOW DH Nathan :bride:. I thought it was pretty neat to see!

Our hotel for the next two night was: Animal Kingdom Lodge!

:cheer2:

Looking back at these pictures, I kinda miss my long hair. Don't get me wrong, the short hair is much easier to maintain but the style I have right now is a bob that is cut more for straight styling, and I prefer my long curls even though it takes me some time to do.

I cut my hair shorter last year just because of our trips :rotfl: I wanted to before our first trip and chickened out. But I actually really love it since I don't do much with it on an average work day.

Your hair looks good both ways, but I think your short hair is really cute!

Although my dish this time was still tasty, it wasn't as good as the one I had in early May.

That still looks like there's more meat on it and it's less burnt than the one I got

Then we headed over to Frontierland to grab a bite at Peco's Bills. I even got myself my very own Country Bear jug! Thanks @Raeven for the tip! Steve and I shared the fajita platter, which was just ok, but we just wanted some sustenance before our dessert party.

Soon @ariane37 and Steve came to meet us after their Splash FP and Ariane got a jug of her own. We got to get it with the strawberry lemonade slushie. It turns out we all had FP+ for PotC so we made our way there to ride it together. It's too bad they didn't do the ride pictures until recently or else we could have had a ride picture together!

We did get a picture with our new jugs though. We like them jugs. :)

Steve and I headed over to the Tomorrowland Terrace to check in for our dessert party. This was a very popular offering as they had just started Happily Ever After like a week before our trip so I booked the dessert party at the last minute to ensure we had a good spot for the show.

The space we got to sit in was under the breeze way but there wasn't that much of a breeze, in fact it was quite humid and the air was damp. It wasn't very pleasant, at least for me.

I don't know if it was because of the weather but I was not feeling the desserts too much. I felt the desserts looked like they were sweating too.

The villains chocolate cupcake was probably my favorite thing out of everything. The pineapple parfait thing was supposed to taste like dole whip but let's just say...they shoulda just had a dole whip machine and not this fake stuff.

They also have fruit and cheese. HAD fruit and cheese I mean.

WHERE'S THE CHEESE?!?

It's sad to see how things weren't replenished that quickly, especially since we paid about 79 dollars per person. The Star Wars dessert party was less money, has alcohol, air conditioning, and everything was replenished faster than you can say "Jabba the Hut!"

Oh but you can get sparkling cider instead.

Look at those sad little cubes of cheese...singing "All by myself!" :charac2:

Maybe it was a super crowded night? But they should know how many people are coming and prepare the portions accordingly, right?

Needless to say, I was not a huge fan of this dessert party. I know I'm paying for the privilege of a good viewing spot but I think other dessert parties I've been to have been more worth it. At least there are seats, and I know at Disney seats come at a price!

After a meager helping of dessert and cheese and a lot of coffee, we headed to the reserved viewing area, which was an area of the hub roped off in front of the Plaza Restaurant. Now this area was quite nice and there was lots of room to move around. When we got there we saw a lot of people just lying around the grass at the back of the hub, taking up a lot of room in the back so we had to stand in front of them. We couldn't sit down as then we couldn't get a good view of the castle. So us and everyone else just stood up in front of them. I assumed the people lying behind us were going to get up when the show started.

But, when the show started, they started YELLING at everyone in front of them to SIT DOWN or MOVE OUT OF THE WAY.:headache: I'm sorry but WTFWTFWTFWTF is wrong with them?
Now here's my rant about the people lying down behind us:

1) HOW THE HELL DO YOU EXPECT TO HAVE A GOOD VIEW OF THE CASTLE WHEN YOU ARE SITTING DOWN FOR THE SHOW?
2) Is there a rule that you have to sit down in the reserved area? No I don't think so. It is your choice whether to sit or stand. If you sit down you cannot expect all the people in front of you to part like the red sea to make a direct line of sight to the castle for you, it's not going to happen.
3) While they shouldn't have asked us to move in the first place, why did they have to start yelling when the show started?!? Couldn't' they have asked nicely BEFORE the show if we planned to stand for the whole show and make adjustments accordingly with all parties involved?

OK to be fair, it was really only one rude family that started this, but I think they set off a chain reaction so that other sitting parties chimed in. Because you know, the pot calls the kettle black and everyone thinks they have the right of way, obviously. :(

So I let out a barrage of curses and just moved up all the way to the front. Some others did as well. Some people stood their ground. Good for them, but I didn't want to have to deal with the yelling and the rude people because I wanted to take some video without their annoying voices in it. They did say "Please" so they do have some manners at least. :sad2:

Rant aside, we loved the show. We really did. Absolutely stunning.

Don't let my opinion of the dessert party sway you, but I don't think we'd be doing this again at least not until I hear some positive changes with the party. I know I've heard some good reviews of it, but I think weather does tend to reflect in your enjoyment level. It was a hot and sticky night and the desserts didn't really do well in the heat all too much. The line for ice cream was ridiculously long. Things weren't replenished that quickly...as you can see, it wasn't really worth it for us. I can see how this would be a good option though for a really packed day at MK and it's nice knowing you'd have a spot to watch the fireworks, but know you'd pay a price for it. Maybe the terrace seating would be better but I personally like to be closer to the castle.

Coming up...Boma Breakfast, Narcoosee's Brunch and Disney Springs!

Then we headed over to Frontierland to grab a bite at Peco's Bills. I even got myself my very own Country Bear jug! Thanks @Raeven for the tip!

:thumbsup2

We did get a picture with our new jugs though. We like them jugs. :)

:rotfl:

The villains chocolate cupcake was probably my favorite thing out of everything.

That was my favorite too!

The pineapple parfait thing was supposed to taste like dole whip but let's just say...they shoulda just had a dole whip machine and not this fake stuff.

Ew. I feel better about skipping this now.

WHERE'S THE CHEESE?!?

What?! :scared1: They had lots of cheese for ours. We were the first night though and I think they were trying to make a good impression that night. Like I said in my post I'd like to see if we ever went back if Josh would get another specially prepared plate of fresh items or if that was just for the first night.

Oh but you can get sparkling cider instead.

We didn't get any!

But, when the show started, they started YELLING at everyone in front of them to SIT DOWN or MOVE OUT OF THE WAY.:headache: I'm sorry but WTFWTFWTFWTF is wrong with them?

That's really strange. There were people sitting down and laying down in ours too, but as far as I know they didn't say anything and stood up when it started.

2) Is there a rule that you have to sit down in the reserved area? No I don't It is your choice whether to sit or stand. If you sit down you cannot expect all the people in front of you to part like the red sea to make a direct line of sight to the castle for you.

No, I don't really get how people plan to sit for them since everyone else stands up you have to stand up just to see.

That is super annoying about the people yelling during the fireworks. I'm glad that you were still able to enjoy the show. Also, I can't believe that items weren't being replenished at the buffet - that is crazy considering the price of the event.

Mmmm you got my favorite thing at Epcot - Frushi!!

Huh, for some reason that shrimp looks familiar to me :scratchin

Hmm, I think I remember you mentioning something about it...:scratchin

Whoo hoo for DISmeets :cheer2: We so enjoyed meeting up with you guys here and everywhere

Yes! It was so fun. I'm glad you saw us at our worst while in line for Pandora...hahaha.

:littleangel::sad1: So disappointed when I heard this.

I was soooo bummed! It was the best thing ever and of course they take it away...

lol! We saw SM with the lights while riding Peoplemover for the first time in May also; we were riding with @MeghanEmily and here NOW DH Nathan :bride:. I thought it was pretty neat to see!

I met Meghan and Nate last week! They are super cute!

I cut my hair shorter last year just because of our trips :rotfl: I wanted to before our first trip and chickened out. But I actually really love it since I don't do much with it on an average work day.

Your hair looks good both ways, but I think your short hair is really cute!

Thank you! It is definitely much easier to deal with, but I feel like with the long hair I can just let it hang, whereas my short hair wants to stick out all over the place, LOL.

That still looks like there's more meat on it and it's less burnt than the one I got

That seems to be the consensus i've heard among everyone that didn't like this!

Ew. I feel better about skipping this now.

It's just not the same. :(

Yeah our party was not that great of an experience. It just felt the food and buffet areas were super crowded although not all the tables were taken and it didn't' seem that crowded, you know?

That's really strange. There were people sitting down and laying down in ours too, but as far as I know they didn't say anything and stood up when it started.

You got the nice people in your dessert party.

No, I don't really get how people plan to sit for them since everyone else stands up you have to stand up just to see.

Exactly! And to get an attitude about it as if we were all infringing on his right for a clear view of the castle...I was so mad! :headache:

That is super annoying about the people yelling during the fireworks. I'm glad that you were still able to enjoy the show. Also, I can't believe that items weren't being replenished at the buffet - that is crazy considering the price of the event.

Soooo annoying! Yeah our experience at the dessert party left a lot to be desired. I was spoiled by the SW dessert party and I still am. If they combine that dessert party with the HEA fireworks, I'd be a happy camper!

Mmmm you got my favorite thing at Epcot - Frushi!!

My first thought was "at least he's better than your last Star Lord" lol

I love the convenience of staying at the MCO Hyatt, but for us coming from CA and going to WDW it just isn't feasible since we are already losing a day with travel. However it is perfect for cruising!

Fun morning at Epcot, I love the booths and all the choices!

I was so bummed when they announced the end of the Express Bus service. I had planned on getting that for the October trip. Now I have to rethink a few of my days as I wanted to hop between Epcot and AK.

Those Country Bear mugs are so cute! I may have to get one. What a shame that the dessert party was such a disappointment. For that kind of money you should really be wowed! Not walking away feeling "meh."

Frustrating to hear about the HEA Dessert Party...I just booked it for November...I reserved it, because the garden viewing looked lovely, and let's face it, for the yummy desserts, and CHEESE!!! Plus, Joe and I will have my then 2 year old niece with us, and not having to stake out a fireworks viewing spot an hour beforehand seemed very appealing...I really hope Disney has improved this before we get there. The $60 price tag was hard to swallow...

Animal Kingdom Lodge is on my bucket list along with Wilderness Lodge. They're both so beautiful!

Sounds like a fun morning at Epcot and you can't beat those food booths for a great lunch!

I love Country Bear Jamboree! I want one of those jugs!

We attended one of the early Wishes Dessert Parties in 2013. I believe the price was right around $25 for adults. I can be a bit of a tightwad when it comes to certain things, so buying the tickets to the party was a splurge or me. Honestly, the desserts looked better back then and I believe there was a better selection of different types of desserts. I remember trays of food kept coming out to keep things replenished also. Today the price tag is $79?!?! So Disney has more than tripled the price in just four years? I find this rather sad. I don't mean to come off as Debbie Downer, but I don't think we'll attend one of these again.

Glad you enjoyed HEA! It looks just fantastic!

Ugh that's so annoying!!! Do you plan on telling the 75,000 other people in front of you to sit down too? Sorry your dessert party was kind of a bust. I'd be pretty disappointed if that was my experience too.

My first thought was "at least he's better than your last Star Lord" lol

Yes he was!

UGH I AM SO MAD JUSt READING THIS

It was so rude and annoying.

I love the convenience of staying at the MCO Hyatt, but for us coming from CA and going to WDW it just isn't feasible since we are already losing a day with travel. However it is perfect for cruising!

Yes true if you have a long travel day then you might as well go right to Disney!

Fun morning at Epcot, I love the booths and all the choices!

So much fun! They should have those booths year round!

I love my country bear jug!
And yes the dessert party was a disappointment. I hope that they will continue to improve. And I do think all dessert parties should take place indoors with an option for outdoor seating, just makes it more pleasant for the dessert part of the experience.

Those people laying in the grass are idiots. I'm just going to say it.

THANK YOU, you are absolutely correct, they were idiots! I try not to get too mad at Disney, after all those people were not worth the stress but it's hard to not to think about it and not get mad!! :headache:

The view is wonderful, and the desserts were mostly good, what we had of them. I hope you get more fruit and cheese than we did though! The weather in Nov should be much more pleasant so I think your experience is already going to be 10x better than ours, haha.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is on my bucket list along with Wilderness Lodge. They're both so beautiful!

They are! I have yet to visit Wilderness Lodge. I really wanted to stay there this December but it's pretty much all gone unless I fork over and arm and a leg for a villa.

Sounds like a fun morning at Epcot and you can't beat those food booths for a great lunch!

Yup! It's the best part!

I love Country Bear Jamboree! I want one of those jugs!

YEah I wish they still had them at the cheaper price, but this one was expensive and wasn't very good.

Ugh that's so annoying!!! Do you plan on telling the 75,000 other people in front of you to sit down too? Sorry your dessert party was kind of a bust. I'd be pretty disappointed if that was my experience too.

I was so annoyed, and mad, but instead of starting a verbal war I decided to enjoy myself and Happily Ever After!
Those people don't deserve an once of my time so I just decided to leave.

<Needs room to take selfies. Banishes DH to different row.>

I brought back my popcorn bucket from early May and I got my refill of crack popcorn throughout the trip.

mmmmm.... where do you get the bucket? Any popcorn cart?

I did have to get a snack for myself though...the famous shrimp that I just about died over two weeks before.

Coconut.... nope.
Too bad.

so Steve had to wear his cooling headband for the ride.

cooling headband? What is this sorcery?

Then, we caught an Express bus over to MK...

Not many people got the chance to do that.

When we got to MK, I changed into a grey Ariel t-shirt

1. Good choice of clothing. Just saying.
2. You change clothes depending on which park you go to??? :worship:

I even got myself my very own Country Bear jug!

I don't collect... well... anything really. But... I may have to pick one of those up. I love that!

We did get a picture with our new jugs though. We like them jugs. :)

So do I!!!!

Wait... We're not talking about the same thing at all here, are we?

:rolleyes1

:duck:

I felt the desserts looked like they were sweating too.

That's okay. It's when they start panting that you have to worry.

Look at those sad little cubes of cheese...singing "All by myself!" :charac2:

:lmao:

1) HOW THE HELL DO YOU EXPECT TO HAVE A GOOD VIEW OF THE CASTLE WHEN YOU ARE SITTING DOWN FOR THE SHOW?

agree with all the above.

<Needs room to take selfies. Banishes DH to different row.>

But there is no other way to take a selfie. :cutie:

mmmmm.... where do you get the bucket? Any popcorn cart?

Yes any popcorn stand will sell the refillable bucket - think it is about 10 bucks and change, and you can fill it up in any park for 1.50 each time.

Coconut.... nope.
Too bad.

It is actually not as coconutty as you think. It was more...lemony I thought from the lemongrass.

cooling headband? What is this sorcery?

It's like those cooling towels like frogg togs but in a headband form. You wet them and they supposedly cool you off. Supposedly because those cooling towels didn't really work well last week in the August heat. I think it's beacuse we were all wet to begin with, rubbing wet towels isn't really helping.
Sadly DH lost his headband on the bus last week too. Grr.

Not many people got the chance to do that.

I'm SO SAD about this.

1. Good choice of clothing. Just saying.
2. You change clothes depending on which park you go to??? :worship:

1. Thanks!
2. Not often but I have done so before. I don't' know why but I couldn't decide what shirt to wear that day so I wore one Ariel shirt and brought another. This past weekend was Photopass day and I changed my tank top a few times to fit the magic shot!

I don't collect... well... anything really. But... I may have to pick one of those up. I love that!

It's super cute. The strawberry lemonade slushie was pretty good too.

So do I!!!!

Wait... We're not talking about the same thing at all here, are we?

:rolleyes1

:duck:

Look, DEM JUGS already causing so much trouble. :rotfl:

That's okay. It's when they start panting that you have to worry.

If they start panting and running around then we'd really have no desserts to eat!

agree with all the above.

:thumbsup2

Really enjoy reading your TR and had to LOL about the 'crack' popcorn. That's my addiction as well and I do NOT leave home for a Disney trip without my popcorn bucket. I haul that thing to the park and refill it EVERY chance I get. In fact I told my kids during our last trip that it would be DINNER...they ended up asking for real food anyway. The NERVE!

Sorry the dessert party was so disappointing. We did one years ago and I'd love to do another one someday...maybe. We'll see. The Star Wars one sounds pretty good though.

Hoping we finally catch HEA this trip in it's entirety. We saw brief moments of it during our May trip but this next trip...it's on my MUST DO list for sure!

Can't wait to read more and read about your bigger family trip also!
