Like the title says are they still offering $10 a night for declining mousekeeping? We will be there for 11 nights but would like our sheets changed in between not sure how that would work. When we stayed in October for 6 nights we called in the middle and they brought us more towels, shampoo, toilet paper soap and left it on the bed. Also wondering if the monorail resorts are the only ones with the occupied sign. Have they started to check other hotel rooms? I have mixed feelings about declining housekeeping for that many days. What would you do?

At the Values and Moderates, yes.

If you opt out of housekeeping, it won't.

Beach Club and Yacht Club started with the new occupied signs yesterday.

Is this something you request before checking in?

Last week they called me on my cell phone and offered it when we arrived at the resort. We declined, as I always will, as daily housekeeping is an important part of being on vacation for me.

Oh, and it may have been all a coincidence but I got the phone call about 5 min after walking in the room (we'd gotten the room notice via text a few hours before)

Made me wonder if they were watching for us to arrive to call and ask

Someone who opted out of housekeeping at Pop Century reported that she requested more sheets, and they brought them to her with the towels. She posted that she had to make the beds herself. There must be a way around the declining housekeeping and getting fresh sheets. I'm sure I'm not the only one whose child has thrown up at Disney World! I'm sure any resort, even if you've opted out of housekeeping, would bring fresh sheets if they were a necessity. I guess they could add $10 back on to your room charges, but that would still be 9 nights worth of a gift card.

I guess that is the solution. You ask for the sheets, they bring them, you change them and leave the dirty ones in the bags along with the towels. It's something folks need to accept they've opted out of when opting out of housekeeping. No? I mean, it's all part of why I do NOT opt out. Even if they don't change out sheets, I want the bed freshly made by someone else for a change.

I'd like more info on this. Do they still empty your garbage daily? I'm guessing you can always call for more towels, etc. I think I read somewhere that they bring fresh towels every 3 days, do a full clean on day 5. Anyone have experience with this?

It was told to me you put your trash in bags and sit it outside the room. They don't come in at all. You call for anything you need

I could live with that for $15-20 per night. At $10, I'm on the fence...it's awfully nice to come back to a clean room.

I think they have experimented with a few different models. Right now it is all or nothing. They will not empty your trash. If you want towels or toiletries, you need to ask at the front desk.

The one resort I know has the housekeeping opt out is Pop Century. Not sure if others do? Pop Century has outside corridors. I would not leave my trash outside and wish others would not either. It can attract critters and doesn't look (or smell) nice. It isn't far down the hallway to the large trash receptacle; just walk down there to empty your trash. We opted out of housekeeping when we stayed at Pop a few months ago as we were only there 2 nights (ordinarily I would not opt out of housekeeping). We took out our trash once or twice and dropped some used towels into the pool towel bin.

Yep, not enough off for me either. I need more than $10 to give up a fresh made bed

Actually the only resorts that participate have outdoor corridors. It's not offered at the deluxe resorts. I guess AoA suites are indoor but I haven't heard if they offer it for them or not

When we stayed at Pop in September, we opted in for the No Housekeeping. We were there for 7 nights, so we received a $60.00 e card.
We were told to call housekeeping anytime we wanted more towels, shampoos or anything else. That on day 3, they would take our towels and trash. On Day 5, they would do towels, trash and sheet change only. I don't think they do a full clean, but perhaps they have changed it since then.
We will be down in 2 weeks and we hope to opt out again. It's only the 2 of us and we don't make too much of a mess.

And it seems they are really "pushing" for it-they really tried to "convince" us today at check-in that opting out of Housekeeping would be the "way to go".:)

Is it a physical card that can be transferred to another gift card? Or just a stupid e-card thing that you have to show on your phone and can't transfer to a physical card?

    Exactly!

We were not told to leave our trash outside the door when we opted out. We just found a garbage can of our own to dispose of our trash.

We completely bypassed the front desk at Pop and went directly to our room. No pressure about anything. lol
