Sorry to hear about your wife. Not knowing your wife or the extent of the injury, but I have had 2 friends have similar issues with less than 30 days before a WDW trip. They both went and had a great trip, albeit in a wheel chair or
scooter.
A camping friend's wife shattered her ankle standing on a chair that was on a table trying to change a bulb in a ceiling fan. The visual is enough, but the way she tells it is even funnier. She was in a cast for the WDW trip and had surgery after they returned. She was wheel chair bound due to not being weight bearing.
My racing team mate blew up his knee playing golf 2 weeks before we were all going to WDW. Had surgery on it 12 days before our trip. The surgeon said his knee "exploded". A bit of an exaggeration, but we still tease him about a race car driver participating in such a high risk sport as golf so close to a big trip.
He technically was allowed to put weight on his leg, but the surgery didn't go well and had to be redone 6 months after our trip. Never the less, he managed very well on Disney scooters. There was one day he couldn't get a scooter and he tried walking instead of getting a wheel chair. That lasted about an hour and the rest of the day a wheel chair worked out great.
One other unintended advantage was front of the line access for the group. We didn't even know about a GAC back then and we never asked for a privilege, but the CMs would see us in the queue lines and ask us to step out and take the handicap access.
Hopefully your wife is doing ok and a few accommodations might be able to save your trip.
