Any rooms to accommodate a family of 6?

Are there any RCL (or any line) ships that accommodate a family of 6? We're currently a family of 5 sailing on the Disney Fantasy in September, but come January or February we'll be a family of 6 and DCL doesn't have any ships with any rooms that will fit 6. The only way we'll probably be able to cruise DCL (or any line) again is if parents go again and we can book a child in their room. Anyone know of any other options? Hopefully the new ships that are coming on in 2019 and 2021 will have rooms that can accommodate 2 adults and 4 children. To book 2 rooms on DCL, even a cheap interior room was going to add a good $4k+ to the total and that's just not doable for our family on 1 income. Do you know of any ships where we wouldn't have to book 2 rooms?

I was looking at this cabin ...... on Harmony of Seas

Family Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

''Two twin beds that convert to Royal King. Sofa converts to double, two Pullman beds, private bathroom and sitting area. (271 sq. ft. Balcony 82 sq. ft.)"

You have to call Royal to book a family stateroom - they can't be booked online.

Also, not that this will affect you, but just general info - if you book one of these rooms and anyone drops off your reservation, they WILL more than likely move you to a smaller stateroom.

I currently have this room booked. This would work well for your group. Unless you want two bathrooms, then two connecting rooms might be a better option?

Booking for more than 4 people will require a call to Royal by you or your travel agent. Although they might drop you for less than a minimum number, I have sailed solo in a Royal Family Suite which is Sky Level Concierge.... So not always the case.

Which ship? Most newer ships have Family Cabins that sleep 6. Anthem doesn't. Like others have said you have to call to book it. If you're sailing on a Freedom or Voyager class ship, Family Oceanview cabins 8500 and 8200 are great rooms. They're much larger than other Family Cabins.

Make sure you compare the cost of 2 rooms compared to one family cabin. On my last 2 Indy cruises it was much cheaper to book a Family cabin. On my upcoming Oasis cruise it was $300 cheaper to book connecting Boardwalk balcony rooms over a Family balcony room.

All of our Family Ocean View Staterooms can accommodate up to six people, with two twin beds, sofa and/or Pullman beds. Other amenities include a minibar (except on Vision of the Seas) and sitting area.

The decoration and arrangement of our staterooms vary by ship. See below for photos. If a ship is not listed here, it means this stateroom category does not exist on that ship. However, you may be able to find a similar stateroom in a different category.

many times on Royal 2 rooms will be much less expensive than any cabin that holds 6.( those can only be booked via a TA or by calling, they are not listed on line at all and there is very little inventory so they sell out VERY fast)

We have four kids and we always just book 2 cabins. We've managed to get connecting cabins every time, which makes it easier. But I'm not opposed to being separated if that's what it takes to get on the ship. I'd rather have a vacation and sleep apart from my husband than not have a vacation at all. And if I'm honest, sleeping in my own bed alone for the first time in many, many years (and after having four kids) doesn't sound that bad... ;)

The plus of cruising is you get to pick your cabins, so you just pick connecting since you can see those on the deck plans. :thumbsup2

It's definitely worth costing two interconnecting staterooms. It may save you some money. We are disembarking the Oasis of the Seas today. We are just a family of 4 and our kids are classed as adults and it was only a couple of hundred more for two cabins. With the door open between us it was just iike two connected rooms to move about in and wth the bonus of the extra bathroom.

DCL doesn't have any ships with any rooms that will fit 6.
The Magic class have suites that sleep 7.

And connecting rooms will give you more options. Often booking 2 connecting rooms is cheaper than booking the suite. Have you looked into inside rooms? Those are the lowest cost.

We've sailed on Explorer, Navigator and Allure and have booked adjoining rooms for a family of 4 every time. The extra space and two baths are a godsend, especially getting ready for dinners.

Family cabin v.s. two connecting cabins: Not sure, OP, what the ages of your kids are but it's worth mentioning that the convertible sofa is a very, very small double bed. Two would not sleep comfortably there unless they are very young children. Two connecting cabins would circumvent this issue.

This is the trouble I had with Anthem. We chose Anthem so we wouldn't have to pay airfare for 6 people, but then discovered no room would accommodate all of us. They even had a Family Connected Stateroom that they have taken away (they reclassed the rooms for future sailings from what the TA said). Thankfully my parents are going and were willing to put two kids in their room, so my husband and I can still be together (I'm the opposite of the previous poster - I definitely don't want to go on a vacation where I can't share a bed with my husband. Not a long one like this, we have only done it for 2 night local getaways). We booked within a month of it going on sale (we tried to book right away but the owner of our TA past away very unexpectedly and it understandably took them a bit to get the business back together), yet still couldn't find connecting rooms in our category.

Thank you everyone for your replies. The ages of our children currently are 9, 7, 7, and a new LO will be coming in February 2018.
