Any guess on new itineraries?

Just curious if there are any guesses as to what (if any) the new itinerary might be.

I wish they would hurry up and release the 2020 dates!!!

I've heard a small amount of speculation around Antarctica, but it was just guessing based on some survey questions.

Unfortunately, if past years are any indication, you've probably got another month left to suffer!

Sayhello

ABD has had a way of announcing itineraries of places we just visited. The year after we did Czech Rep and Austria, ABD offered a Central Europe itinerary. A year after we visited Iceland, they offered an Iceland itinerary... So by that logic, I'm going to guess Portugal, Jordan or Morocco. ;)

If they added Morocco next year, we would probably look at booking!

We would too! We are looking at doing Morocco ourselves in 2020 or with National Geo.

:) I'm just slow sometimes. I wish ABD would offer Egypt, because it's a country I'd prefer to go with a group.

If they added Egypt, we would book it in a heartbeat. Tauck just added Egypt for 2020 as well. Seems a lot of companies are feeling it is safe to go back again.

We were talking to an ABD rep, and she asked us about new trips that we would like to see--- we said Antarctica, Eygpt and Portugal/Northern Spain, then drew a blank after that. In thinking about the possibilities, maybe they would do a limited Antarctica trip with people who had worked on the upcoming movie as special guides/guests, and perhaps bring back the Eygpt trip since it seems more groups are gearing up for that (like Tauck, with a great Jordan/Egypt itinerary).

So, I booked Italy, and then traded for Boston/NYC short escapes cause I'm doing Portugal with Tauck. I had a back injury prevent me last year so I'm doing it this year. ABD cancelled my NYC short escape, so I dropped Boston and switched to a different NYC date. I have Germany, revamped Scotland, and Amalfi/Italy Switzerland on my list for 2020....

That being said I will drop any of those plans for a new trip to the Azores, Portugal (yes, I'll do it again even though it would be only a year later; I'm Portuguese!), Switzerland, Sicily, French Riviera, Netherlands or Russia. I'm gonna be peeved though if ABD finally creates a Portugal tour right after I break down and go with Tauck. But I still hope they do. And I really want Hawaii or a more comprehensive England tour. Maybe a Northern Ireland tour as well? I have a feeling Brexit is gonna mess some stuff up, however.

I just chatted with a Vacationista (I was checking on the number of older teens/younger 20s on our river cruise in June) and she said some of the tours are as a result of requests from guests so I put in my request for "the old Scotland itinerary" and the Adriatic. I seriously doubt they'll take either under consideration but if you don't ask, you don't get. I wish I would have remembered to request New Zealand, d'oh!

New Zealand is another that I'd jump on. I'm already thinking about doing a hiking / biking trip as a solo when dd goes to college (maybe January / February 2021).

Antarctica would be hard for ABD. They'd have to charter an entire ship and contract out Antarctic marine biologists (all of the expedition staff on our trip was on contract with A&K; some for just 1 trip, some for 3 or 4, but none were full-time). That might be difficult to do. Ponant charters a few of their itineraries to A&K. Nat Geo has their own ships. Silver Seas ships are too big. That leaves maybe Quark, but some of their ships are far from luxurious. Not sure what other line they could use. It will be interesting to see if they offer this itinerary and if so, how.

I worked with a travel specialist, Heritage Tours, to arrange our private tour of Morocco. They were recommended by Conde Nast Traveler. I can report back after we've actually done the trip, but thus far they've been extremely helpful in planning everything for us. It's a pretty cool itinerary and very nice accommodations. I'm debating whether to go with them again for Egypt or a group like A&K or Thompson. Tauck's itinerary looks pretty good, but I'll need a family tour with my 7 and 11 year olds.
