All You Need is Love: an offsite, non-Disney PTR (counting down to May 2018)

Ah @sk8jdgca hope he feels better soon! And that there's not a need for a bathroom break in near future :rolleyes1. Although as my boy gets older I take snuggles when I can get them.

That is what I've heard about the outlets. We used uber put last trip to get to/from a few places and it was good. I don't have any worries about doing it alone.

I think teaching to introverts isn't the issue, I think it's not about communication style but how you are emotionally and mentally. I'm an only child so I spent a lot of time alone and learned how to process stuff myself. There's some stuff I don't feel like I should bother others with because they won't care. That's were a lot of it comes in, not my inability to talk to anyone anywhere. But in this situation I also know it should have been discussed and it's not something to ignore. I would think most, and her given her education, would also know that. There's either embarrassment or shame in her reason and she's protecting herself I imagine which makes sense but isn't ok in this case. It's why ghosting is such crap unless you've o my been on 1 to 2 dates, then it's just easier ☺

Hmmmmm, never heard the term ghosting before now, so this thread has officially educated me LOL. And made me feel a little like an old poop .
I hope that Mother Nature likes you and Steve better than she does Tony and I. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

No kidding!! :crazy2: What are the chances that your Fun In The Sun vacation would fall right in line with the worst cold snap that the south has seen in eons? And then a winter storm chases you home a couple of days earlier than planned :(. Rotten luck all the way around. Mother Nature is a real shrew sometimes.

At the risk of sounding pedantic (oh who am I kidding, I'm a pedant if ever there was one, hush toi DDS), a penny saved is more like 1.25 to 1.3 pennies earned. When taking into effect taxation, you have to earn that much to get a penny to save.

Just thought you out to know...

;)

Well...not exactly. I've never been either!

Ah, *now* I feel better :rotfl:.

Just out of curiosity, have you been to Michigan at all before? If memory serves me correctly, you said you weren't originally from Florida, but I can't recall what state you grew up in.

I must be feeling that hug because I'm feeling better today. Thank you!!!!! This one was a lulu for sure. I realize exactly how lucky I am and I will never again complain that my life is boring. Boring is exactly what we should all be so lucky to have.

I feel a little guilty for going away now but......only 16 more sleeps.

I finally got back to work today but of course I got the all clear at nearly 1pm when I had to go and see GC at 3pm. So I furiously worked for those two hours and got a little bit done and GC was good about me arriving late. I'm heading in tomorrow and will work away as late as possible....might work Sunday too.

I am so happy to hear you are finally back to work.....that has to be a bit of a relief for you! (well, it will be once you're not running around like a chicken with your head cut off, trying to make up for lost time) Working weekends is a bit of a bummer, though :(.

View attachment 296780 I hope you are out and about in this beautiful weather. This is my only free weekend before we leave ( I have to judge at skating competitions the next two weekends) I was hoping to try the new skating trail under the Gardener but instead I'm snuggling with my sick "little" boy (who will probably make me sick )

He is asleep on top of me. I can not move!

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that Ben is under the weather :sad1:. Cold, or flu? Fingers crossed that you manage to avoid catching his germ......lots of hand washing and Purell, for sure. It's tough to avoid it when its in the house, though, and you're the caregiver for the first to be sick. Be sure to stock up on chicken soup and gingerale so you're ready if it hits you.

Ah, I miss the snuggle days. Childhood goes by WAY too fast. Now, its kittens (or Steve! :rotfl2::hug:) or bust .

I have not (though I would like to). I grew up in NJ, and the "furthest" west I've gone is PA

Gina - keep that Boma breakfast ressie! That was one of the best meals of our last trip. We had one of the latest adr's so we weren't rushed at all. Could linger over coffee without anyone waiting for your table. Animal Kingdom Lodge is beautiful and you can spend a fair amount of time checking it out and watching the animals on the safaris. They have an amazing french toast bread pudding with a pecan praline sauce that is to die for!

Funny.....I have been off for 4 weeks but I'm am grumbling(slightly) about working Saturday and Sunday. Yes, it's Sunday morning and I'm up and ready for work. I figured that with it still being so early in Flu season that I had better get my butt in there and do all that I can before we have another outbreak.

Gina did you know that on Wednesday and Saturday at noon, you can eat with an Animal Specialist at Sanna? It is reasonably priced (for Disney) and is a small cool experience. I don't know about you and Saana 's food though.

Now Gina you forgot to say "spoiler alert" , some people, well me, are reading the trip report and we're still on the drive down

Snuggles are great but he is six feet tall now and he wanted to be held like a baby last night. I looked like the mom in " I love you forever"
My favorite children's book of all time!!

How is your boy feeling today? Any better?

Well, time for a road trip! Come visit me and I'll show you all the sites in Metro Detroit :teeth:.

You're making a good case for leaving that original plan intact :scratchin. French toast bread pudding sounds DIVINE :cloud9:.

We've never been to Animal Kingdom Lodge, and I really would like to see it at some point. It's possible to see some of the animals from the common areas of the resort?

Well, I hope you made some headway in clearing the backlog. If you absolutely have to give up your weekend to work, at least make it be a productive (and hopefully pleasant) day at the office.

That sounds AMAZING (and the reviews that I googled are excellent!) but I'm not sure I'd eat anything they serve :(. My non-adventurous palette is my undoing more often than not.

Do you plan on visiting Disney Springs at all?

We almost always spend a little time at Disney Springs on our trips, especially when our resort is SO close by. I love mornings at DS.....they are so peaceful and relaxing. And we also love the Coke Store and their rooftop patio. Someday, I want to enjoy a cool beverage while we watch the sunset from up there.

Now Gina you forgot to say "spoiler alert" , some people, well me, are reading the trip report and we're still on the drive down

 my bad. I will say no more. I suck .

So I totally intended to get a good, long, detailed update (regarding our accommodations) posted this weekend, but I've been in the totally wrong frame of mind.....preoccupied with other stuff that has left me with a loss of trip report focus. Tomorrow evening, after work, I will move heaven and earth to get something up of substance. I owe y'all that, for sure.

I did accomplish one teeny thing that pertains to our trip this weekend: I bought a swimsuit and cover up :). I actually like them (which I don't often say about swimwear) and don't feel horribly self conscious with them on. Let's just say as my body ages, I'm less than enthused about my 'shape' :rolleyes2 ..... so swimsuit shopping is something I don't exactly look forward to. This one caught my eye, though, and I immediately loved the style and colors......and even better, it was $84 on sale for $24 :woohoo:. The cover-up is super cute too, and its making me yearn to trade in this dreary winter weather for the warm breezes and sunshine of summer. Maybe that's why I'm in such a funk this weekend (or at least one of the more pressing reasons). I'm getting sick of cloudy, damp, cold days and just want to get OUTSIDE.

We are off to take in a movie tonight. Not sure if we're going to see the Greatest Showman or I, Tonya, but we're getting out of the house and having a "date". Steve has had to pop into work both yesterday and today for part of the day (@dancin Disney style , he's feeling your pain this weekend, though this is nothing new for him...sigh) so we haven't had much time to spend together. It will be nice to put our feet up (yay for theater seats that fully recline!!) and mentally dial out for an hour or so.

103 days is the current countdown. C'mon, double digits!!

I've been meaning to pop in and ask.....is Kobes on the list of places to eat this trip? I know we've discussed this ..and I'm just sayin, i can make time to go eat there with these awesome people i know...

Well...I have to say that the place was so quiet it was the perfect recipe to get a lot done. However, I only made it to noon. The usual daily commotion motivates me to work, the quiet just did the opposite. I did make a small dent and brought home paperwork to get the next two weeks organized.

Finding a swimsuit that we don’t hate is just amazing luck.. finding it on sale as well.. that’s divine intervention right there!! I had a similar miracle at a Target back in 2016.. you never forget the day you are touched by the hand of the swimsuit gods. I will need to be on the hunt for a new one this summer. I am going to start praying now in preparation :scared:.

What movie did you end up seeing? Dh and I are thinking of going to dinner and movie this weekend to celebrate my birthday. Whatever it was, I hope it was a nice evening and that you are feeling better:).

So very true. A few years ago I got into the skirt-tini. It's nice to be able to mix and match pieces but mainly they give a little coverage to the thighs. They have become more and more popular because they are pretty easy to find now. I just bought three new ones from Costco. They are nice Christina brand and only $22.99 for both pieces.

I am definitely going to check these out because you aren't the first person who has mentioned really liking that swim suit. Costco is pretty much the answer to everything!

Sometimes I feel like I’m in a 1920’s bathing costume but I feel really comfortable. When I was at Costco I also bought 2 one piece suits and a regular tankini. Even at home trying them on I just wasn’t feeling it. I don’t even want to see the cellulite. I think everyone should wear what they feel comfortable in but sometimes I see people at the pool and wish they would cover it up a tiny bit.

Hey, come on! I said I would stop wearing that banana hammock from now on...

However, I got a great pair of black knee length socks in my case of Coors Light last week that I think will look great paired my Teeva's. :sad2:

Ladies, Randy Quaid (Christmas Vacation) ain't got nothin' on me!

Welcome back Gina!

So sorry to hear about Jake's breakup. At least it was sooner rather than later, where it would further into wedding plans etc.
So painful though.
