First time traveling on air plane with kids and wondering if a picture ID is going to be enough at the airport or do we need birth certificates also? And another question, dd has a birthday the week before our travels and we wanted to surprise her,but we also have a ds that is 12 yo and abit jealous how can we handle this ? Any suggestions would be great. Thank You.

We have 4 kids (12, 9, 5, 4) and fly once or twice a year as a family. NO id is needed for kids traveling with you who are under 16 and have the same last name if traveling in the 48 contiguous states. Need birth certificates if going on a cruise etc. Passports for everyone if going overseas or to some carribean islands.

Your own your own with the surprise. We just let ours no that everyone has their special day (birthday) and do something special for each one at that time.

Federal Aviation Regulations say anyone younger than 18 years in age does not need identification. Government issued ID, however, is required for adults 18 years and older to enter the secure areas of the airport...
