A Princess, A Royal Room and a CRAZY Auntie EE and Uncle Goey Updated 1/12 COMPLETED

Gia is so, so cute! In fact all three of you are very photogenic.....I don't think I've ever seen a bad picture of you guys!

During all of our business in DS I had been texting a wonderful Diser, @pepperandchips. We were making plans to meet up, since we were going to be in the same place at the same time. It was an awesome opportunity to say hi before our Epic Girl’s Trip in May...We settled on a spot, and finally got to meet. Melinda is wonderful and came with beautiful, handmade Mickey Ears for Gia and I in lovely fall colors for us to wear at MNSSHP. She’s such a sweetie and I’m so glad we got to meet her, her husband and Mom. So, Melinda, when you read this (and I know you will), it was lovely hooking up and can’t wait for all the fun we will have in May...
Awesome DisMeet! So nice to meet Melinda and I love the ears she made you!

We were greeted with glasses of champagne and a sparkling juice concoction for Gia (which, she promptly spit back out in her glass:rolleyes1), and were escorted to our table. We were seated next to a window with views of the Magic Kingdom and the Grand Floridian. It was beautiful. Of all the times we have dined here, we have never been given a table in front of the windows, so this was pretty special.
That brunch looks amazing......seriously considering adding it in for our trip in July even though it is up to over $90/person now! Glad you had such a lovely time! :)

Can you believe there is still more to come with this meal??? Yep, dessert...Our waiter brought us out a beautiful tray with all kinds of sweets. Gia, of course, loved the macaroons.
So delicious!

My Uncle Jim got married to his HS sweetheart, Bev(his wife and her husband had both passed away). They hooked up and rekindled their romance from years and years ago.
This is the sweetest story!

On an unrelated note, how are your girls doing at university? Hope they are doing well so far. My oldest is first year as well and he is loving it!

Thank you, you are very sweet!

The girls LOVE it!!! One is in Pre Med and the other is in Public Policy/Marketing. What is your son majoring in?

My sister makes red, blue, and green Jell-O shots every Xmas and we all down them, even my 82 year old MIL :rotfl2:Too bad we can't somehow figure them in to our May trip!

Joe had the Vanilla Bean French Toast - Parker house bread, creme brulee custard, caramelized bananas, walnuts
That looks and sounds right up my alley, probably what I'll get in May!

The pictures from your table are gorgeous, such a great view!

Where there's a will, there's a way...If we keep our rental car, we can run out, get the goods, make em, and suck them dooooooown...:yay:

I was thinking about ordering them too...

I hope we get good tables in May...

Time to Check out our Royal Room...(This Post is VERY picture Heavy)

After our delicious Brunch at the Top, it was time to check out our Royal Room. We made the quick drive from the CR to POR, parked the car, and went looking for our room...I had paid for a standard view (parking lot), but were extremely surprised when our room was directly across from a courtyard with a fountain!!! It was absolutely beautiful!!! Honestly, we didn't see a single person in this area the entire time we were there. It was very quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately, I don't remember our room number or which section we were in...And, because it was a Royal Room, it was a hop, skip and a jump away from the main building where check-in, food, and shopping was available. This was an ideal location, and we were thrilled with the upgrade.

Joe went and grabbed the bags (it took him a few trips. I offered to help, but he told me he didn't mind). We changed into our suits and went to enjoy the quiet pool that was just around the corner from our room. Gia loves to swim, so this was an instant hit for her. After our time in the pool, we took Gia to get a little treat. She chose a bowl of strawberry ice cream. This was no little bowl of ice cream. It was as big as her head, so of course, Joe and I helped her devour it...:P

How did we spend our evening??? Well, you will just have to wait and see...:rolleyes1

Since staying in this beautiful room, my sister has redone Gia's room with a Disney Princess theme. Well, DUH!!!
These rooms seem just perfect for a little girl!

That is one happy little girl.

Sounds like a nice and relaxing day so far.

My family had a wonderful stay in a Royal Room in 2014. It's great for a family with girls who adore princesses!
It looks like you had a room in Oak Manor, if I remember that fountain correctly. That's the building we stayed in, but were on the quiet pool side.

I couldn't agree with you more! This location was IDEAL!!! The rooms are gorgeous, as well as the theming!!!

Wow you had an amazing view at brunch! I was a bit disapppointed with where they sat us considering we had a 10:10 reservation and it opened at 10, I figured we would definitely get a window seat! Maybe you need to go a few times to get that kind of magic! haha so amazing!

How exciting to get upgraded to the royal rooms! My Aunt and cousin love the royal rooms, they seem so fun and special!

We have dined at Cali Grill at least 5-6 times in the last 3 years and this was the first time we were given a window seat...I thought it was because we had Gia with us, because she's so darn cute, but that's not it...She's been with us there twice before...I guess we just got lucky....I'm hoping we get window seats in May when we are there again (for the Epic Girl's Trip)...:yay:

We had a Royal Room reserved, but had a standard view (parking lot). We were thrilled to be given a courtyard view. It was so pretty and serene. I love the Royal Rooms. They are so full of detail. This was our second time staying in one and the third time we've stayed at POR.:flower:

Andi and I stayed in a Royal Room once and we really enjoyed it, all the little touches are so cool!

Gia sure is a cutie and enjoying her stay!

I agree! I think The Royal Rooms are the most themed out of all the rooms at WDW. They are so special, especially for the little ones who love princesses.

Gia is adorable (and I'm not just saying that because she's my one and only niece)...:love:But, yes, she is a cutie and she had a great time with her Auntie EE and Uncle Goey.

The rooms are super cute and a lovely setting. It does look like a really quiet location. Super big bowl of ice cream for Gia.

It was beautiful. I hope we can stay there again soon. Gia's favorite treat is ice cream, so she was thrilled!

Dinner at Narcoossee's Coming Up:

After an afternoon of swimming and ice cream, it was time for Gia to take a nap, and EE and Goey to veg out. It was nice to have some downtime.

Waking up refreshed, it was time to get ready for dinner. We had 6:30 pm reservations at Narcoossee's. We got dressed in our finest and made the quick drive over to the Grand Floridian. We valeted the car and walked over to the restaurant. On the way, we explained to Gia that this was a FANCY dinner, so we told her she had to sit with her hands in her lap and make the pouty face...

We checked in and were given the worst table in the entire restaurant. We were the last table on the inside, closest to the kitchen. The ONLY saving grace was that we could see Cinderella's Castle, and Gia really liked that. Oh, and she could see the monorail zipping by...
Joe and I started with a few cocktails. I had a glass of the White Sangria and Joe had an Old Fashion with marinated cherries. They were very good and hit the spot. For my appetizer, I had Slow-poached and Chilled Shrimp -
with Citrus Remoulade, frisee salad, pickled shallots $17 and Joe had the Barbecue-Grilled Shrimp and Grits, - Wild Florida shrimp with Budgie's barbecue sauce, low country grits, cherrywood-smoked bacon, and pickled green tomato chow-chow $19. We both enjoyed these, but proclaimed mine the winner, simply because it was so light and fresh, and the flavors melded together well.
