A Few questions

I am not sailing until 8/24/02, but I do have several different questions about the trip. I'm lucky enough to be in a Cat.3 and will be in cabin 8346. I'm taking my grandaughters ages 1 & 8, my daughter and her husband. Here are my many questions..

With the concierge service I know they will make my reservations, but is they a better guarnetee that we will get what we want or do we have a better chance waiting in lines ourselves?

Spa treatments.. Has anyone had the Foot and ankle massage or the relation therapy treatment. Which is better and any day better than another to get either treatment?

Shore Excursions.. I was thinking of myself and older grandaughter taking the See & Sea Island Tour in St Maarten. Anyone have any comments on this excursion??
Where are the casinoes located on St Maarten..I was thinking of going on the Tour and then taking DGD back to ship and me heading out for a short casino trip. Is this possible??

Strollers..Are we better off bringing a umbrella stroller or getting one on ship.. Is there a fee to rent?

Cabin 8346.. Anyone ever strayed in this cabin?? Someone sad there is sometimes to much furiture, and you are unable to move around easy or get to verandah without climbing over a chair.. Can I ask in advance to remove chairs?

I think that is it.. I'sure as it get closer I will have lots more questions..It's nice to know that everyone is so heplful and tat I don't sound like a fool with my questions.

Take care and a HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hi grannymary, and welcome to the Cruise Board! :)

I think you mean you have stateroom 8546, as there are no "3"-numbered staterooms on the Disney ships. You will definitely enjoy the concierge service! DO use them to get all your reservations; I hesitated as well as I always do them myself but with our Cat. 3 and concierge service on our December cruise we used the concierge for everything we had not booked before boarding. They were VERY helpful and got everything we wanted, plus moved things around for us when we changed our mind about our Palo brunch.

The spa is wonderful and although I have not had the treatment you mentioned it sounds lovely. ANY day is a good day for the spa; they tend to be less crowded on port days but the concierge will be able to get them to schedule whatever you want.

There are limited strollers available on the ship, I'd definitely bring the umbrella stroller.

I'm sure some other folks will chime in to help on your other questions. Hope that helps a little! :)

I haven't heard any complaints from anyone with concierge service in regard to the reservations available to them.

I was thinking of taking my grandaughter, age 9 on the See and Sea Island tour in St Maarten. Anyone have any comments on this excursion?? Will my grandaughter enjoy it?
She might be somewhat bored by the shopping stop in Marigot, but she'll definitely enjoy the ride on the semi-submersible submarine.

There are several on the main street in Philipsburg. You can dash over there using the water shuttle. If you check your grandaughters into FRN and the Lab during the afternoon, you could certainly spend some time in the casinos in the afternoon.

No such cabin. Do you mean 8546?

I will forwarn you that the casinos lining the main shopping street are quite seedy and undesirable looking. My mother ran in a couple while we waited for her and I went in one to retrieve her. I would not recommend visiting them by yourself.

If you plan Palos you can use the concierge and call ahead (before the boarding rush) to make those ressies. I was slightly disappointed in the times available for the spa. I made ressies through the concierge (at the onboard meeting) and there were definatily limited times. Our times were not confirmed until later that day and some of the times were really not good we had requested a late morning/early afternoon time and got 4pm when I tried to get it changed I was told there were not any other times available for that particular treatment. Other than spa I was very pleased with the Concierge service.

I wouldn't say the casinos are 'seedy'. The one that I was in reminded me of some of the joints in downtown Las Vegas (Binions, Fremont, Plaza). Dealers and staff were very friendly and seemed to deal an honest game (we won!).

If you're interested in blackjack, we found a good double deck game with great penetration at the first casino you come to from the dock. (sorry can't think of the name). If you do decide to go, make sure to pick up some of the match play coupons at the excursion desk...good for $20-40.

Good Luck!
