2017 DISNEYLAND RESORT HALLOWEEN TIME / MICKEY'S HALLOWEEN PARTY THREAD!

What nights of the week are the parties, at least usually? I'm trying to plan a trip and I'm not sure if I need to plan to be there Friday and Saturday night or if the party is likely to be Friday, so we can head home late Saturday. Thanks!

They're usually MWF (as the past several years have shown). People have said they aren't sure if Disney is going to stick to this schedule for this year, but I'm almost certain. They probably aren't going to subtract any parties, only add because they're so popular - last year I believe they had 14 party dates. They don't tend to do back-to-back party days during the week. So an average MWF schedule seems to make the most sense.

2015 and 2016 were the first years when the party dates were pretty consistently only MWF during most of September and October, except close to Halloween when the schedule deviated from the MWF schedule. Prior to 2015, the parties were held on inconsistent days of the week. That all being said, they've had parties on Friday nights and not on Saturday or Sunday nights pretty consistently (except when Halloween fell near the weekends). So how consistent the schedule will be, likely depends on when you're going.

How fast do the parties normally sell out? We will be there Oct 25-29. Do I need to be stalking the website to make sure we get our tickets the day the go on sale?

Almost all of the party dates have historically sold out before the day of the party, but tickets don't sell out on the first day (or even the first few weeks). You can see the sell out dates for 2016 and 2015 in these posts and I will try to track the 2017 sell out dates as well.

Thanks so much. Now I can relax a little. We have other family members traveling with us and will be buying party tickets separately for the same date. I just wanted to make sure we have time to communicate, which sounds like we do.

I see that WDW have a party on November 1st this year, anyone think DLR will? We arrive on the morning of the 1st and would love a party! TIA :)

The last party at DL has been on Halloween night since at least 2008 (that's as far back as my notes go). If Nov 1 was on a Friday night, I think there might a chance that DL would think of adding a party, but this year, Nov 1 is on a Wednesday, so it seems pretty unlikely.

dates can't come soon enough. we'll be there the whole first week of October. only thing that slight saddens me, is that I just watched the Tokyo version of HMH and they do SUCH a better job in Japan with the Halloween overlay.

I have never seen a party on the 1st of November at DL.

Thanks both! I knew it was a long shot but all good :)

I'm guessing we won't have dates until further into July. They didn't release them until later than normal last year, so it would make sense that they release them around the middle of July again this year.

I will be driving down from the SacTown area the first week of October and a friend of mine who has never, ever, in her ENTIRE LIFE (!) been to Disneyland is flying in from Texas so we can hit DLR/DCA together. I am really debating whether or not we should grab party tickets. We're both middle aged ladies, kinda geeky, unafraid of adventure and definitely unafraid of being judged for it - so she's already said she wants to see "everything". The plan thus far is five day park hopper passes so we'll have plenty of time between both parks. My financial situation is really tough right now, but I will grab a party ticket if we decide to do it. I've been to DLR/DCA for Halloweentime before, but I didn't go to the party. I'm waffling on whether or not we should go, though. What do you guys think - for a Disney n00b, is adding a party in there as well as everything else we're trying to do just 'too much' or should we go for it and get party tickets on top of our five day park hopper passes?

I already got us reservations at the Park Vue, so we'll be able to see any fireworks from the second floor outside patio and as we'll be getting park hopper passes we'll be able to hop over to DCA when they escort non-party goers out, but I kinda want to go despite the extra strain on my credit cards.

What say you, oh Disney-wise ones - if it were your first time going to Disney anything, would you want to go to the party as well (pretend you'd never been. lol!)?

Thanks so much for your opinions and any 'Halloweentime first timer' advice! :-D

:wave: Subscribing... Waiting for the Halloween Time and MHP announcements! Did everyone read the latest MiceChat Rumor Update from today, which has a segment about Halloween Time, and how the transition to DCA is going to take place in 2 phases? Some of it will happen this year (including 2 new ride overlays in DCA), and some of it will take place next year (including MHP and the parade moving to DCA, and more decorations). So it sounds like this could be the last year for MHP at DL -- at least for several years. We'll see what happens.

I was saying on Facebook that I, personally, cannot envision Main Street without the Pumpkin Festival, even if the bulk of Halloween Time moves to DCA. And I certainly hope they don't remove Haunted Mansion Holiday from DL, because that would impact the holiday season too.

Welcome back!! :) That info was definitely interesting... I would be so sad without Haunted Mansion Holiday!!!

So happy to see you on here! Your advice and knowledge for Halloween and Christmastime has been so helpful to me in planning past trips.

I hadn't read the article but the idea of new Halloween overlays is exciting to me! I can't imagine them removing the pumpkins from Main Street! Hopefully they would keep all of the Disneyland decorations as they are and add all new to DCA. A special and unique theme would be awesome. I'm headed over to MiceChat to read the rumors now!

:goodvibes Thank you, pudinhd! Now, of course, HMH may not go anywhere and could stay put for many Halloween Time and Holiday seasons to come, but.. I don't trust Disney. The idea of building up the Halloween things in DCA is great, but that probably means it will come at a price, and we will lose something from DL.

I've been saying for years that the possibilities for decor in DCA are bountiful -- like whimsical Cars Land decor, retro Buena Vista Street decor, old monster movie-themed decor in Hollywood Land, spooky fog-filled atmosphere in Grizzly Peak, a seaside carnival in Paradise Pier, etc. I just don't want to lose the pumpkins on Main Street and Haunted Mansion Holiday!

Thank you! :goodvibes I'm so happy to have been of help here over the years.

I think the DCA overlay could be exciting -- although I do wonder if it's wise to limit the ride overlays to 2 rides that some people (who avoid thrill rides and thrill-ish rides) might never experience. At least in Disneyland, we have one thrill ride overlay and one overlay on a ride that everyone can go on.

They have got to keep those pumpkins on Main Street, and over the turnstiles, and keep all of the Halloween-ish window displays on Main Street. There are some things that just work well in DL as opposed to DCA, and vice versa, and I think those pumpkins need to stay! Now, the parade and the party moving to DCA next year would be interesting, but I am keeping an open mind! I liked the party when it used to be held in DCA years ago, so it would certainly be better now.

I know others will disagree :) but I vote to lose Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy instead of HMH!

I love having MHP at Disneyland, but I really loved it at DCA! The price was cheap, the crowds (if there were any) were so spread out it seemed like you were alone, and the lines were short!!

I do not like Ghost Galaxy and my kids don't either. If it's classic Space Mountain, I can get my DS10 to ride with me. I do appreciate others like it, just our preference.

This will be our 3rd Halloweentime trip to Disneyland! It will be just my youngest and I this trip. I can't wait for the dates!

I would not personally miss SMGG at all. The only reason I wanted to keep it in DL was because the Halloween offerings were/are always kind of slim (which you probably remember me saying repeatedly in all of my former threads! :guilty:) and I thought that Disneyland needed it. But, really, if Disney wanted to replace it with a giant candy corn photo op and drape some candy corn on the outside of Space Mountain -- Candy Corn Mountain, maybe?? -- I would be OK with that!:rotfl:
