Hello all,

We are fairly new DVC members going on our first trip to OKW in Oct.

I saw at one time a list posted of things that DVC members pack to go in the properties.
I can't find this could someone help?

I have also posted that we have a speciality cruise for iluminations booked for 8:30 Weds, Oct 10. We have 8 slots available on our boat if anyone would like to share with us.

I have also read about water mice, do these replace the water sprites? Where is the nearest place to rent and what is DD.

Thank you,

Doug

What you pack depends on what size unit you are staying in. You will need different things for a studio than the 1,2,or 3 bedroom units. Studios don't have laundry facilities in the unit or regular dishes. There is only a microwave, toaster, coffee maker and under counter fridge. In the regular units, we usually only pack laundry tablets, sugar, salt, pepper, and coffee and tea. We stop at the Publix market on our way in from the airport to do grocery shopping. We tend to pack less clothes because the laundry facilities make it so easy to wash a load each night. We also wash the night before we check out since it is easier to pack clean clothes than dirty ones, and makes the unpacking at home much easier.

Feel free to add to it!
Thanks to the great group last night for contributing!

One thing I didn't see on the long list is a fitted sheet for the bed - Disney, like all hotels, uses flat sheets for the bottom sheet. I'm a restless sleeper, so I frequently end up sleeping the bare mattress, or end up tangled in the bottom sheet.

I always bring a king sized fitted sheet (not WHITE, so I can remember it's ours when it's time to pack to go home), and use that over the standard bottom sheet - get a double layer of sheet underneath, and dno't have to worry about getting wrapped up in it at night.

Water mice are water sprites, just had a name change a few years ago. You can not rent at OKW. You can rent them downtown if you wish.

DD is Downtown Disney, including the Marketplace, Pleasure Island and Westside sections. The boat rental is at the Marketplace area, and you can catch a boat there from OKW by the Hospitality House.

Thanks for the replies,

We are looking forward to our trip,

I have not had any replies on the Iluminations Cruise, but hopefully some DIS members will be interested.

Any tips / recommendations for a 1st time visitor to the Old Key West.
