17 year olds in adult areas and activities

i didn't see any espresso based coffees in cabanas and didn't find vista cafe on wonder in 2016 (walking the ship or on the deck plans). Where is it located on magic and wonder?

if cove cafe is the only morning option for real coffee and there is no place to leave kids when people buy a coffee to go - then i don't see how children can be avoided there.

I got espresso drinks at the promenade lounge on the Wonder. That's the lounge area off the atrium. It's definitely all ages. I took mine to go in a China mug, but I was offered a disposable cup if I preferred.

You're correct that the classic ships don't have Vista cafe.

Yes, the Magic has a Promenade Lounge too. This summer will be my first time on the Magic, but I don't see why it would be different.

My son was 17 on our last cruise and he spent little time in Vibe and spent most of his time with his 19 year old sister. (Younger sister 14 loved Vibe and was never seen). They would go to the movies, or to trivia in areas that were open to all ages during the day, to the early comedy show in the clubs, etc. They were able to find lots of fun things to do together without bending the 18 and up only rules.

My DD will be in that 17 year old limbo age as well on our next cruise. She will have graduated high school, not into the Vibe crowd and too young to hang out with the 18*21 crowd. She is most upset however about being less than a month shy of being able to eat at Palo. I guess her dad and I will have to take turns ordering her coffee from the Cove Cafe.

To be honest, if my child was just one or two months away from turning 18, I'd probably re-schedule our cruise until after their birthday rather than have them upset about missing the 18+ areas.

You know, I'm usually pretty encouraging on these boards. But, maybe today I'm just a little cranky. So, I'm going to put it out there... It really does strike me as unfortunate that a lot of people tend to focus on what they can't do, rather than be thrilled with all of the many other wonderful things they can do. You're on a Disney Cruise, for heaven't sake. Go and have a good time. But, if age restrictions will be so much of an impact on your cruise experience that you're considering breaking the rules, then re-schedule for when the ages align with the desired activities.

Unfortunately, not an option. If this were just another Caribbean Cruise we would have scheduled after her birthday. However, we are taking the 10 day Med Cruise and didn't have a lot of options for dates. The cruise is a graduation, birthday, and anniversary celebration cruise. She will survive and is more excited about seeing Europe than the 18+ areas.

There was a gal at the adult pool on the magic last year and she looked young. She swore she was of age, kept saying she gets carded all the time, the CMs continued to ask for ID and she couldn't provide any so she eventually left. I was embarrassed for her and wonder if she was actually of age or not to be in the adult pool. It was quite an awkward scene.

I don't understand why someone on the ship wouldn't have their KTTW card either on their person, or at least with their stuff in the pool area.

The KTTW has your age on it? If so, then the reason for not having it is probably because you're not of age.

If you're a minor, it indicates that. It also indicates if your're 18-21. However, if you're not in your stateroom, it seems weird to *not* have your KTTW card - because if you don't, not only can't you buy stuff, you can't get back into your room.

Yep. She was kind of convincing though, like she was really telling a good story about how she gets carded all the time and how she really is of age. But I didn't see any proof via the KTTW so the CMs must hear it all the time. She really had me going LOL, I have to give it to the CM for pressing for the KTTW.
