ºoº Dapper with Duffy: A Delicious Disney Adventure!!!!! - Updated 3/7

Sounds like you girls are having a wonderful trip so far! Despite the rain. Rain in Disney is much different then where you live, it's much more do-able.

fantastic pictures! really bumped up the saturation!

Friends who get wet together stay together?!?! :rotfl2:

So sorry to hear about your unfortunate souvenir from Dinosaur Sarah :sad2:

Loved your ride photo though...:woohoo:

I can't wait to see the Finding Nemo Musical, I hope there are sign language interpreters there when we go. Sign language is such a beautiful language and I love watching it!

Great photopass photos of you all!

Rum Dole Whip...I just recently learned about this. I CANNOT wait to try it! Glad it helped make Ana feel a little better.

Those safari pictures are to die for, incredible job Ana! "Rhino butts" :rotfl2:

FOTLK...Neat pictures! Another can't wait to see for me!

"We didn't wear our ponchos because we're good friends." :rotfl:

I freaking love this TR omg you girls are so cute.

Raising my hands in worship and shoutin a praise for the paragraph about theater etiquette. SMH some people. Disney should have a quiz on public behavior mandatory to anyone who wants to book a Disney vacation.

I want the Duffy back pack right now
awww omg :3
HAHA omg right though? we're all theatre people so we were seriously appalled at everything happening, people are the worst! :confused3

exactly! even though it was raining we were still able to truck through it and get a lot done. It really did stink a lot sometimes but we were still able to get some cute pics and have a good time ^_^

we loved the interpreters so much! They were so fun and excited during the show, it was really fun to watch.

we had such good luck with photos, even though the rain was not cooperative haha! we really managed to get some nice ones, I love looking through our pics from the trip because I have so many new favorites :)

“Escape from Mash Mountain”
Day 2: September 23rd

So when we left off, we were heading out from Animal Kingdom in the pouring rain but not wearing our ponchos because we’re good friends. It was seriously POURING rain, I had to drive us home very slowly and carefully bc it was scary lol.

We walked in to my house pretty soaking wet from just a few seconds outside, and we all changed out of our wet clothes and dried off (we literally took the hairdryer to our hair and backpacks it was so bad). Then we started getting ready for dinner! Chris was due to be home from work around 5:15, so I made us wait til he got home so I could see him lol #sorrynotsorry

Around 5:30 or so we headed over to MK for our very exciting dinner experience at Liberty Tree Tavern! For those of you that read our pre-trip report, you’re familiar with the fact that we were VERY excited to share a “Thanksgiving” dinner with Ana, who has never celebrated that American tradition before. It was also my first time at LTT and as a history lover, I’m all over the old-timey colonial vibe of the restaurant!

Indeed, my not being American means I’ve never celebrated Thanksgiving but I gotta say, the food display seems absolutely awesome so, I was SO excited for this! I was also glad that we had snacked through the afternoon as opposed to having a full lunch because when we walked into the park I was hungry and ready!

It was a party night and we had one of the latest reservations available, so we admired all of the Halloween costumes while making our way to dinner.

Isn’t costume watching one of the best things about this season? Soooo many people do such great costumes at Disney and the parade of princesses, superheroes and villains on party afternoons is such a part of the magic. Idk, I love it a lot.

People watching is seriously the best part of Halloween parties!! I love seeing how people go all out and make really amazing costumes!

This was our first glimpse of Magic Kingdom this trip! It was unfortunately still raining when we got there so we didn’t get to take a ton of Main Street Halloween photos like I’m sure we normally would have.

15228779190_9dede0d914_z.jpg

We did manage this poncho selfie on the tram from the parking lot tho

When we got to Liberty Square, we still had a few minutes until our reservation time. We decided we could squeeze in our first ride in MK of the trip! A classic, and all of our faves, The Haunted Mansion.

15412285591_60a58b1c30.jpg

Standard HM photo

It was a great ride as usual, but the two families immediately in front of us were FORCING their terrified SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER children on the ride, so we did get the bonus of listening to them the whole time. oop

Lol yeah that was fun. I tweeted:
6:36pm @xo_kaela: Maybe you shouldn't drag your screaming crying child into haunted mansion

By this time, our reservation had arrived so we hurried over to Liberty Tree Tavern to get out of the rain!
15228914807_06361a27a6.jpg

“It’s the one with the tree, probably.”

We went inside and put in our names and waited a bit to be called! If you aren’t familiar with Liberty Tree Tavern, they ask you where you’re from and then when it’s your turn to be called, they say “Now seating the ____ Party from the Commonwealth of _____!” Well, “where are you from” is a bit of a weird question for us as we’re all from diff places lol, so we ended up being from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Costa Rica, and Maryland lol

The lovely hostess walked us to our table and Oh. My. God.
We had the BEST table in the whole place!

15415460085_440b67443d_c.jpg

Our table was in the Washington room, in a cute little alcove surrounded by windows, it was amazing! Our hostess said it was her favorite table in the place :)
Maybe they put us there since Washington is a Virginia boy & 2 of our party are from that area!

15268725260_7c5ec76cae_c.jpg

cool of u to look at the camera, Kaela

It was seriously such a darling little table. It was ridiculously crowded in the lobby since people were escaping the rain, but our table was in a far corner in a very quiet room with a few other empty tables. The window seat just made it even more pleasant to be eating such a hearty “homecooked” meal in the warmth while outside it was miserable and rainy.

Naturally we all also took menu pics once we sat down lol:
15246109600_f7eb1ba217.jpg

Oh oh, and, at my suggestion, we all also ordered the pomegranate lemonade, aka the best drink on the menu and one of my fav Disney drinks ever:

15415459415_5bd32624d8_z.jpg

amazing.

I ended up getting this lemonade many more times on the trip!

Shortly after we took pics, our server came with the salad and I knew I was in for an amazing meal right away. The salad was SO good! I told the girls that I had this huge impulse to eat it all but I knew we were gonna get so much great food after so I had to resist the temptation. I’ve been meaning to search for the vinaigrette recipe because that was one amazing salad and I want to have it again.
We told ourselves we weren’t gonna let our waitress take it away because we wanted to eat it all later without filling up before the meal...but then when she grabbed it we both froze and stared at her with wide eyes instead while she hijacked out delicious salad to make room for the entrees.

15268825537_e8a005bbfa_z.jpg

I am not a big salad fan so I nibbled, knowing that the real masterpiece of the meal was yet to come

While I was busy with the salad, I realized that our bread basket had a great flaw: It only had 2 cheese bread pieces!!!!

15455048562_884379ca2c_z.jpg

I was sad because I wanted to try everything but my being busy with the salad allowed Kaela and Sarah to grab bread lol
Omg Ana don’t make us sound like bread hogs, I shared my cheese bread with Ana!!!!! In my notes it even says “I shared my cheese bread, good friend part 2.” My cheese obsession made it so hard to share that bread, I’m so selfless omg.
What are you talking about, I also had salad??? I LOVED THE SALAD! That didn’t stop my ability to grab a bread puff! I didn’t try the cornbread though because I wasn’t here for that, I was here for the cheese bread.

Then…... the feast arrived.

15455037922_fa66127eab_z.jpg

Idk if there’s a way to fully explain this meal. But, every single item that came into our table was amazing, delicious, perfectly cooked and there was so much of it. Omg, the joy of this meal, the shock of all the amazing flavors coming together (the meats! the potatoes! the mac n cheese! even the green beans are fantastic) and the oh so powerful knowledge that you can have more! Hahaha it’s one of the most outstanding Disney food experiences I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to do it again.

I’m simultaneously salivating and cryin looking @ these pics because I want to go back so bad omg :( It was one of those great food situations where like, you’re SO FULL you’ll explode if you eat another bite but it’s SO GOOD that you’re willing to risk exploding in order to keep eating

I don’t believe there are enough pictures of this amazing food imo. Every single thing was perfect. The turkey itself is actually my least favorite part of a Thanksgiving meal, I always go for the sides more because I could stuff my face with mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and stuffing all day long. The GREAT part about this meal for me then was that it had 3 types of meat to try! So, as usual, I had a baby bit of turkey and went to town on the sides but also got the bonus of the beef, which I LOVED! It was cooked really rare which I was surprised at for a meal like this, but it was so tasty.

Important Interlude:
Okay, can I just say?
Writing about this meal is traumatic. I want to go back there like, tomorrow and eat it all again. It was so amazing and my mouth is watering rn and it’s like 1 am as I write this.
Back to your scheduled reporting. There’s literally nothing I want more in the world right now while reading/writing this part of the report than to go back RIGHT NOW.

Also during this meal, I created one of my favorite memories of the entire trip. I’m still laughing thinking about it lol okay so. My favorite way to enjoy Thanksgiving-style meals with meats, mashed potatoes, stuffing etc is to mix it all together and eat it that way. Like, just make a big pile of turkey, potatoes, gravy, stuffing, and mix it all up into one delicious bite:

15228910467_4e8fde4ee0_z.jpg

I call it: MASH MOUNTAIN

hence the title of this TR chapter! AND IT WAS SO GOOD. Sarah was not impressed with my eating strategy:
7:34pm @xo_kaela: Sarah is scared of Mash Mountain @wreckitsarah #zipadeedisney

IT’S LEGITIMATELY TERRIFYING! I’m not one of those people that is so neurotic that omg none of my food can ever touch and they have to be on separate plates or whatever but lmao I was traumatized by mash mountain. I ate all my foods separately, thank you very much, though I believe Ana made a mini-mash mountain of her own after seeing Kaela’s haha

but I miss Mash Mountain so much omg, we were cracking up at it and I wish I was eating it again rn tbh.

pic of the table after we had stuffed ourselves:
15228854658_9233484f5f_z.jpg

destruction.

I wanted to eat more at this point but I knew we had an important mission: to save room for dessert! And omg, was it a worthy mission! We were rewarded when this beauty came to our table:

15432301096_29ebf9848a_z.jpg

I tweeted:
7:49pm @xo_kaela: I like how they serve the dessert with very tiny plates because they know you won't be able to eat very much

I’m honestly not sure Kaela even ate any of the dessert, but I managed to eat a good portion of it since it was delicious. I was kinda nervous I wouldn’t like it, but it was great, especially with the ice cream. Yum.
I ate literally one bite I was so full lol

I secretly wanted to take our time finishing so we could mosey out during Boo to You and get a glimpse since it’s my favorite parade ever, but the girls were against spoilers lol
I hate spoilers! We did take our time though. By the time we were leaving, the restaurant was practically empty since no more reservations were coming in due to the party. We took this as the perfect opportunity to snap some pictures of the decor. It’s beautiful in there!
29Lh2MW.png

As we were ready to leave, one of the hostess asked us if we were staying for the party and since we weren’t, we waited for another nice hostess to escort us out.
She was soooo nice omg! We chatted all the way out about costumes and our plans for our own party later that week. It was just about the nicest way in which I’ve ever been told, “pls leave”.

Yeah she was great! We mentioned her in the letter we wrote post-trip about all the awesome CMs we encountered ^_^

So yeah we were escorted out, caught a few peeks at the MNSSHP lighting and some people’s costumes, including an amazing group dressed as the characters from Up
15429623421_1aa98434f0_z.jpg

Our final act in MK that night was to attempt to take a photo with the MNSSHP lighting out front. It wasn’t exactly a success but I still enjoy this picture:
RwtkH9V.png

spooky.
After this, we headed home. We had an important mission ahead of us: it was time to make our own Halloween party costumes!

Oh No.. I am with Sarah. No Food can touch.. EVER!!!!

Yes Thanksgiving is wonderful!!! one of my ultimate favorite holidays! But i do all the cooking!!!

Oooh, this was the day of the flood watch. Ugh, I remember it all too well.

Yes indeed, MK was a party night. Sadly, it was MY party night. STUPID RAIN!!! I so agree too that costume spotting is a huge part of the fun. Not quite as much fun when everyone is dressed in ponchos, lol.

You know, that's actually my fav HM photo too because the umbrella girl is where the door opens so I'm always on that side. #DISNEYNERD

Oooh Liberty Tree looks so good!!! I love how they introduce the group too. And while I don't tend to mix foods too much, (in fact I am also one who's foods do not touch and I usually don't even alternate foods like I eat every French Fry before even touching the burger), I do tend to mix turkey and stuffing, so a partial mash mountain. And yes, that was a ridiculous run-on sentence.

Nice to have a sneak peak of the party. At least the rain had stopped by then.

  • All caught up now! I agree about Nemo, people rave about it and I get it a bit but I don't ever have a desire to go see it again. I had people do that to me too (block the exit/view) and it drove me mad! If you're going to leave early, don't see it at all!
  • I love your bridge/everest pic! I wish we had gotten one there, that's a great spot
  • That dole whip is perfection! SO PRETTY! Never underestimate the power of a Dole Whip!
  • Your safari pics are awesome! The FOLK ones are good too, esp. since it looks like you're a few rows back!
  • I l*o*v*e LTT! I have such fond memories of it, I wish we had gone back this year. Maybe next time!
  • Your MNSSHP lighting pic is great, I think it looks spooky!

So fun so far girls, can't wait for more!

They can touch a little!!!! But I have my limits lol.

I'm getting excited for actual Thanksgiving, but I have a feeling my family's meal just won't be as good as LTT lol

Yes it was pretty bad lol. I'm so sorry that it was your party night!! It did clear up by around 8 or so, right? I know Kaela's room mates were at that party too and they went late but still had a good time, I hope you did too! I'll have to find out when you get to that part lol

LIBERTY TREE IS SO GOOD IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN PLEASE GO. It might be a rough one for a solo tripper but maybe perfect for a DISmeet or something! And I was just noticing that on your latest update with the burger photo! I thought the joke was that the fries were "delicious" because you didn't order any and then I realized you just ate every single one before touching the burger lol.

It's seriously like no one has any theatre etiquette in Disney! Maybe they should just attempt more theatre-in-the-round, I have never experienced that problem at Festival of the Lion King since you'd kinda be on stage trying to leave early lol.

We are actually more than a few rows back! We were pretty close to the back, which really makes Ana's photos even more impressive.

It's gonna be really hard for me to pass up LTT on any subsequent trips... the only restaurants we repeated this year from last were QS (BOG & Flame Tree), but maybe I can convince the girls that this should be a new tradition. We all loved it so much I don't think it would be THAT hard to do.

:goodvibes

Poncho selfie=Awesomeness!

Such a good idea to book one of the last reservation times so you can see the Halloween costumes and such!

OMG, so I originally had LTT on my ADR and then bumped it off, but now I think I need to add it back in. It looks so yummy!!!

Those Up costumes are seriously the best!!!

So fitting that I'm reading this update the night before Thanksgiving!!!

Love HM, hate when people drag their screaming kids on it. Actually the worst. HM will always be there, you can wait until your kids can handle it.

I would have demanded more cheese bread!

Ughh stop it thank God I am getting a similar meal tomorrow or else I would be VERY hangry. Everything looks amazing!!!

HAAA Mash Mountain. I can't say I'll be trying that tomorrow. I mix my mashed potatoes and corn but that's about as far as it goes.

That dessert pic is BEAUTIFULLLLL so professional looking!

Happy Thanksgiving to Kaela and Sarah and Happy Thursday to Ana!!!

i will be reading this as well!
Hello!! I hope you find it somewhat entertaining ^_^

I know!! I'm glad we just looked at costumes though and didn't like sneak a peak at the parade. I hate spoilers and it built up even more anticipation for later.

YOU MADE THE WRONG CHOICE!!!!!!! Im madly in love with LTT now

I MIGHT have posted a picture of my dinner here at LTT on my instagram on Thanksgiving rather than my actual Thanksgiving dinner lol.

You know Idk why we didn't demand more cheese bread. It's not like they would have said no! We were foolish

I'm glad everyone is on my side of the Mash Mountain "debate" hahaha :dance3:

Hope your Thanksgiving was great Courtney!! :flower3:

Death by Glitter (mini update)
Day 2: September 23rd

So we left you in our last post as we were leaving MK, driving home after our Thanksgiving feast. This is gonna be a little tiny baby post because we had one very specific mission to do when we got home and that was make our tutus!!

To be honest this turned into way more of a project than we were expecting… we used glitter tulle for our tutus and I think that made it really hard to work with.

It started off smoothly with us cutting our tulle into long strips:
15432817975_c423c76dae.jpg
15412273841_35603ed63b.jpg

We measured our waistbands and sewed them together. Ana sewed mine, thank you Ana.

I had to sew my own and I am pretty sure I made it too big and had to go back and fix but I don’t remember lol, a lot happened this night

We laid out those trash bags to try to provide a glitter catcher. It did NOT work. Glitter was EVERYWHERE. We were absolutely covered in glitter the entire trip from this night on. We made very
valiant efforts to clean Kaela’s apartment before Chris had a heart attack but it was just FUTILE. It was awful.
15228765220_5fe509a763.jpg

Attack of the glitter.

I think regular tulle is easier to work with because we asked our friend Sarah (the Hulk in our MNSSHP story) how long it took her to make her tutu and she said 20 minutes tops. It took Kaela & I at least a few HOURS. Ana was much quicker because she’s good at things. The glitter made it really hard to tie the strips in tight knots because it made it “sticky” and I know I really struggled with it. I ripped the band I was tying the knots onto at least once and it had to be sewn back together lol.

Yes omg and I ripped so much tulle, my hands were hurting, it seriously took FOREVER and I was like what am I doing wrong here...

Anyway after a night of hard work, sweat, and glitter, our tutus were really coming together!!

15429622881_7ac8ecd618.jpg

not even halfway done yet

15412273281_4cbdde8fe1_z.jpg

hard at work

15228903607_593dd35aec.jpg

TA DA!!!!!
That’s all the tutu pictures you’ll get for now, you’ll see the finished product when we get to our MNSSHP part of the trip!

It was 2am by the time we finished and made our attempts to clean up.
key word there is “attempts”

Kaela tweeted:
2:07am @xo_kaela: finished our tutus!!!! GOODNIGHT

It turned out to be quite the endeavor but we finished and passed out. We were scheduled to head out to our resort in the morning, stay tuned for the beginning of our Coronado stay and Kaela’s “birthday” adventures!

Adorable!!! Love the photobomb in the back!

that glitter will stay with you forever. I am still cleaning up pixi dust from the kids reveal.. 3 months ago.

Yes there really is no good way to contain the glitter on a project like that other then keep it to one area and then vacuum afterwards.

"a little tiny baby post" No idea why but that made me giggle.

Oh wow, death by glitter indeed!!!

"Ana was much quicker because she’s good at things." OK, that made me :rotfl2: Plus, it totally makes sense. :thumbsup2 But still :lmao:

Congratulations for all your hard work. Now Really Excited for the next day's "Birthday Adventures" because... reasons. ;)

Oh man, that's so rude that people got up to leave Nemo before it was over. What is wrong with people??

I have to laugh at Mash Mountain! When I was a child, I would always pile my mashed potatoes with corn and then cover it was gravy. I called it "gravy salad" :rotfl: Well, I still do that actually!! I like food mixed together... like burrito bowls from Chipotle and mashed potato bowls from KFC.

Good job with the tutus! I still have glitter on my floor and the seat of my car from Halloween!

Love the tutu update. Sounds like you went to a great deal of trouble and a lot of glitter to make the perfect costumes. Bet it was worth all the hassle in the end. Can't wait to see the costumes all put together!

Coronado & Birthday Beginnings!

Day 3: September 24th

When we last left you, we had stayed up way too late making tutus after a full day of Animal Kingdom and feasting at Liberty Tree Tavern.

Today we are celebrating Kaela’s birthday!!! YES MY BDAY!! Mine was first because it was September 24 and my real birthday is April 24 so it worked out quite pleasantly that way (✿◠‿◠)

To fill you in quickly if you didn’t read our pre-trip report, we were celebrating our birthdays on this September trip, even though our birthdays are in April & May. On our first trip together we were lucky enough to ACTUALLY celebrate our birthdays so we wanted to carry on the tradition. For the purposes of this trip, “birthday” really means the day of the trip where each of us got to choose the majority of the plans, especially meals and which parks to play in.

We woke up later than we meant to and got ready for our check in at Coronado Springs!!! Can u blame us for waking up late though lmao, we were up til way late glittering my apartment!

We packed up all our important things from Kaela’s apartment and rolled out to CSR.

15432498302_3d66e9feae_z.jpg

Duffy was a very good co-driver.

Somehow I didn’t take any pictures of the CSR lobby when we were checking in and it looks like no one else did either lol. I guess we were too excited or something? We left all our luggage in the car so its not like our hands were all full. It’s a mystery. Actually, I left my camera on my carryon suitcase, so I didn’t have it on me when we checked in. In hindsight, this was a wrong choice.

We didn’t wait very long to get to the front desk and we checked in. She looked at our preferences and told us we could have a room right NOW in Ranchos or wait for a different room closer to what we asked for. Well none of us wanted to stay in Ranchos and since we didn’t need to be in our room right away, we chose to wait for a room in Cabanas.

My notes at this part literally say “Our room was not ready so we paid off balance and were given the choice of ranchos or waiting....we chose waiting lol” - lmao we did not want Ranchos! I knew from my exploration pre-trip that it was just too far away from everything even though it was beautiful, and we would prefer something else.

She put us in Cabanas 8B which we ended up being very happy with! We went and parked the car near where our room would be when it was ready and went over to the bus stop to go to Epcot.

We got more pictures of the bus stop than we did anything else during this first visit to CSR lol. Probably because according to our notes, we had to wait 30 minutes for the Epcot bus, since we JUST missed one as we were walking to the stop. This would be the beginning of the trend of unlucky bus trips for us.

15412496831_1a285c29ed_z.jpg

Still happy.

15415326402_0873e1df14_z.jpg

ok but seriously where is the bus?

15229070068_d3b9ae6cda_z.jpg

please???

10:39am @xo_kaela: we've been waiting for an Epcot bus for 35 minutes......I feel like an angry tourist right now…

to be honest I think one of the only things we complained about/had bad feelings towards on this trip were the buses. we seriously had SUCH bad luck with them pretty much every day, it was horrible. I have never had to wait as often or as long as we did for buses and it was just pretty sucky lmao. so that was kind of a bummer way to start the day but we weren’t going to let it get to us!!!

Ok so we ended up at Epcot extremely late in the game and it was a NOT RECOMMENDED park today, and boy it was easy to see why. Crowds everywhere, lines for everything, no FP+ left. We snapped many pictures w the photopass photographer out front.

11:24am @xo_kaela: thanks to this helpful cast member whom I have never seen or met before for getting us our epcot fastpasses today! #notreallymybirthday

We said goodbye to Chris and it was not yet time for our Spaceship Earth fp so we got some Fountain View Starbucks!
If you’ve heard us talk about Starbucks, we’re all big fans of Disney Starbucks, it’s what Walt would’ve wanted, etc, etc. So it was a mission to go into Starbucks, and take pictures.

I selfie’d with Duffy while we waited for our orders.

Kaela & I both enjoy our Double Chocolatey fraps while Ana enjoys who KNOWS what. Iced macchiatto with like 1000 extra shots???
Omg, sis! Venti Iced Hazelnut Macchiato, non fat with an extra shot of espresso.
I don’t like coffee I don’t know what these things mean. But look at our trendy starbucks/fountain photo haha

We ALL tweeted about out our Starbucks adventure so you could tell we were enjoying it too much haha

11:30am @wreckitsarah: Good morning from Epcot @ Fountain View Starbucks at Epcot
11:31am @xo_kaela: The girl spelled my name right on the Starbucks cup and the dude STILL called it out as "Kara"
11:40am @snowweisz_: I just had a Fountain View Starbucks hazelnut macchiato with 4 shots of espresso. I am ready to tour all day now #zipadeedisney

I remember this Starbucks trip being so hilarious to me though because Ana was seriously DRAGGING before we had coffee lmao like falling asleep at the FP kiosk, but then after she had this she perked right up! It was true Disney magic.

We drank our drinks and decided to head into the Mexico side of World Showcase to make our way to Maelstrom. On the way, we met our new friend Duffy!! You might have already noticed that we brought along Kaela’s Duff to help us celebrate her birthday :) We were going to have a LOT of fun with him on this day and meeting himself was the first stop!

basically best friends now

Duffy was OVERJOYED that we had brought him out to travel. We mentioned that he’s a traveling bear so ofc he would be perfect for an Epcot day! Also, have you guys hugged Duffy? Omg he is sooooo fluffy and adorable! If you read our PTR, you know there’s some history there where we used to not like Duffy very much, but that was an embarrassing time. We love him now, rightfully.
I am so happy we came around and love Duffy now. He’s just too cute not to love. Also I’d like it to be known that I have since acquired my very own Shellie May, aka Duffy’s girlfriend, from Japan, and omg she is SO CUTE! why is it so fun to pose stuffed bears as if they are human? We just don’t know

continuation of the last post due to too many pictures!

Then we continued on our way to ride Maelstrom. It was the last week of this ride’s life and we weren’t sure when we would get the chance later to ride it so we took the opportunity of a 15 min posted wait on a non-recommended day to make sure we rode it at least once this trip!

WkYzmAI.jpg

The short version of this story is that the stand by time was a complete lie and we stood in line for Maelstrom for at least 45 minutes.
I IG’d about our predicament:

12:14pm @snowweisz_: In line for Malestrom. I was lied to, this is not a 15 min line. #thepavilionformerlyknownasnorway

The long version is that we were waiting patiently in line at first, until we realized that hey, this seems like it is going to take a lot longer than 15 minutes.

It was very clear that a lot of people had the same idea we did. Everyone knew these were the last days of Maelstrom and people were eager to get a final ride in before death by freezing came in. I gotta say, it was a bittersweet wait. I wouldn’t have agreed to wait this long for Maelstrom at any other time and there was this vibe of everyone else sort of having the same feeling lol.

Then we started to get antsy. Ana had the heads-up game app on her phone so we took turns playing the Disney round of that for a while and it was pretty fun! Kaela kept winning haha. (because I am a boss #slay)

We stopped after the people in front of us accused Ana of repeatedly SLAMMING into him with her backpack because she wasn’t facing forwards while she was talking to us as a group and playing the game. Talk about an exaggeration much, chill dude. There was no body slamming going on I promise. We took quite a few really random photos during this time too.

really awkward crop of me during another selfie session. we were bored.

Omg I had almost forgotten about that crotchety old man who yelled at us lmao he was definitely not having a very magical day
Then we FINALLY GOT ON THE RIDE!!! Those who seek the spirit of Norway, etc
It was such a long, boring wait but I’m really, really happy we got a last ride in. Sweet Maelstrom, you will be remembered. I was never an intense Maelstrom fan and I see why it makes some business sense to put Frozen there. But it’s sad to see the Norway pavilion change. It was a super calm, chill place and that’s all gonna change when the statue of the elf is replaced with Olaf :( Omg Ana it’s a TROLL not an elf!!!!!!!!!!!! lmao Ana

So I took a pic with it to remember it forever:

So we never would have waited for Maelstrom with a 40 minute wait at this time since we had to leave Epcot pretty soon for our Beaches and Cream lunch reservation, but we made do. To make time, we had to forego our Spaceship Earth FP+ altogether and leave Epcot via the International Gateway to head to Yacht & Beach Club for lunch. We were not in any kind of rush walking over but we didn’t have time to do any more attractions in such a crowded park either. Instead, we continued to make the most of our Memory Maker package and took more photos.

Having Memory Maker was honestly one of my favorite parts of this trip. It was so nice to be able to just leisurely walk through World Showcase, see a photographer, and stop to get a few pics. I truly believe we got infinitely more pics of the three of us than we would have without it, plus all our magic shots were more than worth it!!
Along the way, Kaela was accosted by a CM that was concerned about Duffy’s health:

12:55pm @xo_kaela: a DVC girl came over to tell me happy birthday and I expected her to give me stickers but she just told me I need to get Duffy some clothes
12:56pm @xo_kaela: leave my naked Duffy alone, lady

lmao I was so mad about that, just give me some stickers and let me and my naked Duffy live in PEACE PLEASE

This photopass photographer was so charming, and he gave us Chip magic shots! :)
I believe we wrote about him in our letter at the end of the trip, too!

are my eyes closed here lmao

So many World Showcase picturessssss

After we got our final France pics, we exited the park. We hadn’t taken more than a few steps outside of the park when we got a VERY magical surprise!!!
but you will have to wait and see the next part to find out what the surprise was! ;)
