    October school vacation weeks?

Schedules vary by region and even simply by district. For instance, my kids don't get any days off from school in October at all. They also go back to school over a week later than all of the surrounding districts.

Does your resort choice influence your park days (advice please)?

Our resort choices affect our park days in terms of the amount of "extra" time we spend at each park. In other words, no matter what resort we choose, we'll always want to spend at least one day per park. But then after that, we're more likely to make return trips to the park(s) closest to us.

    Disney spending.

Our kids provide their own souvenir money. They save allowance money, birthday money, yardsale money, etc. Always have, even when they were little. And we packed little trinkets for on the way to and from wherever we happened to be vacationing that year. It always worked beautifully for us...

How old would your kids have to be for you to take them solo?

Personally, I'd wait until they were both fully potty-trained, at the very least, and if possible until they were both old enough to understand fully the importance of making sure they always know where you are and for you to always know where they are as well.

    Wood and picnic tables?

It's generally considered a bad idea to bring firewood from one place to another. You don't want to accidentally introduce any insects, seeds, etc. to your destination area.

    Going Bagless!

Just make sure you use pockets that cab be zipped, velcro closed, etc. or that are tight enough not to allow you to lose anything important while on rides. :) Especially jacket pockets, if you think there's a chance you may take the jacket off and carry it over your arm or anything similar...

Would you expect to be “compensated” if you couldn’t attend a Christmas party?

No. Absolutely not. It's not something like a vacation day, that you earn, and therefore MAY be able to cash in, depending on your company's policies.

    Why do people assume

Ah, that's usually when my pet peeve phrase gets used---"It must be nice!"---ugh. ;) Yes, going on vacation is nice. But, those same folks probably wouldn't think that everything we do or give up in order to have those vacations are very nice at all. ;) So true. I was discussing our need for...

    Why do people assume

Something similar happened to a family I know. When smart phones were still relatively new, their oldest child was given one by a family friend. They didn't even have any plan for it. The child used it to play games that had been downloaded on it for them or to use the internet if someplace...

    Why do people assume

I hear that kind of thing so often! All I can guess is that the people making assumptions don't personally know many people who believe giving away items they no longer want/need, or people who give more valuable gifts, or they don't realize how easy it is to find people selling used items for...

Ever saw cut scenes from a movie that would have vastly improved it?

I can't think of any specific example right now, but there have been times when I watched cut scenes and thought that they would have been helpful in explaining things or in book to movie situations I might think that I wish they had included that bit, even if I thought the movie was pretty good...

    Jungle cruise

Even though they are doing some scenery changes and updating some jokes, it's still going to basically be the same ride as it has been. So if a 45 min. wait for that will leave you feeling "not thrilled", I suggest you skip it. :) Sometimes long lines don't indicate anything more than a...

Fastest roller coaster in the world shut down due to injuries that included broken bones

Yikes. I thought the idea behind thrill rides is that you're supposed to enjoy the fact that they seem dangerous, but are not----not that they truly are dangerous!

    Disney's miscalculation with Genie/Genie+

No matter how many people hate any new change Disney initiates, there will be an equal number who either like it, don't mind it, or simply don't care. So Disney won't lose out even a good number of people disliking/hating something.

    Skyliner closes debacle

I hope everyone who experiences this kind of poorly organized "solution" takes a moment to contact WDW in some way to let them know because if a guest had to volunteer to be a "cast member" it seems pretty clear that an actual cast member was needed in that situation.

Disney is really pushing phone usage!

I hear you. To me, a real vacation means as little driving or phone use as humanly possible. :) But alas, right now, if one wishes to go to Disney, one must accept it as it currently is. ;) I will say, though, that while COVID caused us to choose to reschedule our last summer trip twice...

Refrigerator...Side by Side VS French door

The only way I'd personally go for a french door is if the freezer section had 2 doors as well. Otherwise it reminds me of an old chest freezer in that you have to dig for stuff, made worse by it being practically on the ground. I feel like side by sides tend to be too small on the fridge...

What is up with the totally anachronistic DJ/singalong in Town Square at MK closing? So wrong for MK

That is nothing I ever want to see at WDW. The audio was too loud and garbled and the whole thing was just---why?? It looks like a guest brought in equipment from home and staged their own show!!

What will Disney let you pay for next?

A continuation of charging for building or area specific Standard resort room requests, beyond just a preferred room or a view room, particularly in the more themed resorts, such as the values. Like what they do at Art of Animation now-----take a random room, pay less than if you specify that...

Disney "Money Grab" and the future of Universal

With the low pricing of their newest value resorts, I won't be surprised if more people start opting to do this---stay at Universal and just drive or get a shuttle/Uber/etc. to Disney .
