Some people on the Disney boards

Every time I go to Universal I feel more and more love for it. Last time when we walked in, there was a red carpet for guests to walk down and the team members cheered and high-fived us for no reason whatsoever other than to make us feel special and happy. I really feel like Universal wants our...

    Hoop Dee Doo closing???

It's entirely possible that Disney executives released this rumor to assess the backlash. If the public says "meh, we want changes," then they proceed. If the public says "we will tie ourselves to Pioneer Hall and protest" then they think of some way to incorporate it into whatever DVC tower...

    Hoop Dee Doo closing???

Adventurer's Club. They could have left it as part of Disney Springs and instituted a door charge. They would be minting money on that place now. HUGE mistake.

    Hoop Dee Doo closing???

These are good ideas. Just make the campgrounds packages only. But they are obsessed with making more DVC properties instead. I feel like some suits around a boardroom were persuaded by some glossy brochures promising massive returns and huge bonuses and they do not care if they change the...

    Hoop Dee Doo closing???

I wouldn't put it past them though at this point. There are some things that are just True Disney, and that show is one of them. One of the few remaining "only at Disney" experiences left. I can't get excited about spending another 10-15K at a place where they seem to only care about making more...

    Hoop Dee Doo closing???

This nauseates me. Of all the recent baffling decisions Disney has made, this one leaves me speechless. Hopefully I am not breaking the rules but this link is from this site. Feel free to remove it if so...

Seasonal Annual Pass from last year...

You're good during that time period.

Onsite Deluxe to Offsite—Will We Regret It?

I agree it wouldn't be the easiest commute. If I were doing more than 2 days at Disney I would definitely stay closer to Disney. But staying at Portofino made me realize what the other options were out there. Some really nice ones.

Onsite Deluxe to Offsite—Will We Regret It?

We have always stayed deluxe at WDW and I love Portofino Bay Hotel more than any Disney hotel. We will be there for labor day, paying 270 bucks for a huge room overlooking the bay. It makes it harder to justify staying onsite, and is a factor (but not the only factor) in my decision to take my...

CM’s entering resort rooms with and without RO sign

For all we know, disney execs aren't even listening to their in-house legal team. God knows it happens all the time. Parking fees are industry standard. This policy is entirely unique to Disney. It's also both new and nebulous. I see no reason why Disney would be unwilling to ever work with...

CM’s entering resort rooms with and without RO sign

THIS. Why is Disney the ONLY hotel chain doing this?

CM’s entering resort rooms with and without RO sign

Courts decide all the time whether to enforce a contract or not - that is to protect people from unfairness in the bargaining process or the contract itself.

CM’s entering resort rooms with and without RO sign

I'm afraid it is not that simple - as guests do have certain rights under common law that a very vague "contract" cannot just erase and allow Disney to literally do whatever it wants. Eventually these issues either get addressed in courtrooms or by Disney tweaking policy which they do all the...

CM’s entering resort rooms with and without RO sign

The "front desk" button on the room phone directs you to a central call center not the actual front desk. That's one of the problems people have with this policy. Other hotels do ask guests to verify staff are supposed to be there by calling the front desk. At Disney that is not an option.

CM’s entering resort rooms with and without RO sign

So you think Disney contract terms give them the right for a man to enter a woman's hotel room at 2 in the morning without her consent and a judge would find that contract term enforceable? Under that contract a man can enter the room every single night at 3 am and stand near her and stare at...

CM’s entering resort rooms with and without RO sign

"It's a statute not a law...." Now he's going on and on. Apparently this would get complicated depending how far Disney would take this, and since these threads get locked for veering off course, I think we will have to end it there, unfortunately. I personally would like to get into it - I...

CM’s entering resort rooms with and without RO sign

And how would a guest get access to the back office? They don't even have access to the front desk.

CM’s entering resort rooms with and without RO sign

The room checks are not looking for weapons. Not under beds, not in closets, not in cars. The current implementation of the policy would not prevent a LV attack, and we know this because the shooter did interact with staff many times before the event and they noticed nothing out of the ordinary...

CM’s entering resort rooms with and without RO sign

They are already open to serious problems right now. See example above. They are more protected with regular guidelines. Companies do not get to bypass laws by being vague.

CM’s entering resort rooms with and without RO sign

Lawyer next to me says "It is not legal for Disney to require women to grant entry to men who they believe are going to assault them."
