    Upgrade at port with DCL?

That is about what we paid for a similar upgrade (from 4C to a 1 BR suite) a year ago. We were sailing with the disney plus kids sail free promo so it amounted to a discount of 60% off the concierge rack rate for that sailing. Had we paid full price for our original room without the disney...

    Grand Floridian Vs Disney Fantasy

We have DVC so like others have said that shifts the value, but not as much as you’d think. Park tickets and dining at WDW are so expensive. We’ve found the best value to for us is to stay a couple nights before and after a shorter 4 night cruise. We use our dvc points and enjoy the hotel...

    Castaway Cay Wind Concern!

One tip: I’ve seen some youtube vlogs where they give a “pro tip” to stay on the ship in the morning and go onshore midday to beat the crowds. While it is true the afternoon is less crowded on castaway as a lot of folks leave after lunch, it is also risky. We’ve never missed castaway, but...

Is ~$400 more worth it for an extra night?

More than half of our cruises on DCL have been 4 nights or less and we have another two more booked this year. There are lots of “more is better” posts but I don’t think there is anything wrong with 4 night cruises—that plenty of time to have an amazing vacation. That said $400 for an extra...

They are here! (Summer 2025 I mean)

As the returning cruisers etc. book the cruises, if the price goes up, you'll see that reflected in the general "category" prices that show up on the website. If you want to know price for a specific # of guests on a specific cruise in a certain room category, you can ask and one of the folks...

Alaska cruise Port Adventures at Ketchikan.

We did ketchikan on our own and loved it. We got a map at the visitor center and walked around and saw the totems, historic creek street, salmon run, took the funicular up to the top of the married man’s trail and walked back down it (you can walk up too instead of riding the funicular which is...

    Treasure - Advice

Higher floor is the biggest factor, followed by midship—for example deck 10 forward or aft is generally more expensive than deck 6 midship, but deck 6 midship is more expensive than deck 6 aft or forward. Bump outs on the sides of the ship are not priced higher than other rooms in the same...

Just returned from the Regal Princess

We thought it was hit or miss. I like that I could use it to see in the app where our family members are. But we often ordered drinks that never arrived because in crowded areas it was harder for the staff to locate us, and twice had to have charges removed from our accounts for drinks we...

    Movies before Alaska Cruise?

Frozen/Frozen 2. Especially 2 because of the magical glacier.

Magic band + worth it on the Wish?

I think it is an improvement over the keycards. I liked that you are able to keep the band on all day even when swimming, showering, changing outfits for dinner etc—when we had lanyards with keycards my husband and kids would always take them off in and forget them in the stateroom or pool...

They are here! (Summer 2025 I mean)

We’re looking at the 9-night med. The addition of turkey as a port appeals to us and it is much less expensive than the 12 night.

    Alaskan Cruise

I would pick the 7 night and use the money to pay for some nice excursions or just enjoy the money savings. Special/unique itineraries on Disney are priced much higher than the extra nights—their price factors in that they are always very popular because repeat cruisers who have already done...

What exactly is so bad about the pirate night food, and is anything good?

I enjoy the pirate night food. I like the samosas, wedge salad, all the entrees are petty decent (jerk chicken is probably my favorite), and I’m not a huge dessert person so don’t have any strong preference there. But I still advocate for skipping pirate night if you want to do an adult only...

    DCL cruisers tried Royal...

This is actually super helpful. We are also “pool people” so that could be a benefit, especially in winter months when the ocean is cold. Disney’s pools are always packed.

    DCL cruisers tried Royal...

This is our problem too. Family of 5 and I keep pricing out Royal cruises and it always comes out not really any less than disney because the room categories that sleep 5 are pricier on Royal, or I have to book 2 rooms. I know that two rooms or a suite/jr suite is more space than a disney...

Would you upgrade to Concierge for these reasons?

We skipped the concierge lunch. No regrets! We got to "rope drop" cabanas as we boarded before all the other guests and we got to have a wonderful big booth table and get all of our food before the chaos of all the other guests arriving.

    Deck 2 Wonder

However may want to make sure there is not a movie “premi-ear” screening of a new movie theater release on the sailing. Those start at midnight.

Dress Shorts Now Acceptable for Palo Brunch

My husband will be happy. He hates long pants in tropical weather. Plus only seems fair—if I can wear a knee length sundress instead of a floor length one, why should he have to wear long pants?
