Fellow DISers with glasses: Photochromic lenses or prescription sunglasses for trip?

Looked at the photo-chromatic lenses last time I updated my prescription. Handy but, as others have said, they don't tend to get dark enough. Sooo...I also have the magnetic clip-ons. Not as convenient, perhaps, but, darker, better protection and polarized too.

Good gift items for world travelers

Speaking of toiletries...maybe travel sized stuff would be handy stocking stuffers. I have had good luck with https://www.minimus.biz I usually restock first aid kits and other harder to find travel size items and grab some snacks to stuff in the backpack.

Good gift items for world travelers

Couple other ideas... Believe it or not Inflatable Hangers! I use these more often that I thought I ever would. And these: Convert-a-hanger . Sometimes handy! +1 on the cloths line and don't forget a rubber stopper thing for the sink. Also: Laundreez is a travel washer, there are some...

Good gift items for world travelers

On the international travel power/charger front, my Power Donut has been all over with me! http://www.mogics.com/3824-2. Can also be found on Amazon. I got in on the Kickstarter for it some time back. Works great and is always in my carry-on. It goes along well with my Kablecard (Amazon)

    Carry on recommendations

Depending on your stamina and desires I'd agree with Aelin1977 on use of a backpack or a bag without wheels for carry on. Especially out side the US where the agents can often be a little cranky about bag sizes. I've never been asked to gate check a bag without wheels but my wife's wheeled bag...

    Flights

Flights not part of the tour are not included. That is, flights to the arrival city and from the departure city are not. Flights that are part of the tour are included. Spain for example had a flight from Barcelona to Madrid when we did that trip.

    DLP add-on price?

My wife and I have "added on" DLP twice, once on the way to the Bavaria tour and once on the way home from Spain. In each case, as IzzyBella points out, we booked ourselves and we used a European DLP site to do the booking. Sometimes the the UK site is less expensive and us yanks can still...

    Video Editing Software

I've used Corel Video Studio and Power Director (v16 and 17) and like both. I switched from Corel after it refused to read the MP4s out of a my Panasonic camera and started to crash while rendering...for no reason I could find. PowerDirector has worked well for me after I turned off the use of...

    Flickr changes/alternatives

It's not free but I use my own web space. Actually I have two, one includes a domain, email, etc. and the other one is with photo album software (jAlbum. Not expensive and really good software by the way). Free alternatives might be Google Photos and some of the print services allow sharing of...

    Radio Disney?

There are a number of sites that stream Disney Parks music. You can listen by connecting direct or, many have an app. I visit a couple: http://www.subsonicradio.com/ http://www.uabmagic.com/ In addition, Pandora and Spotify, have some Disney inspired channels or mixes.

    Best "Walk Around " Lens

Some time back (years), and based on advise in this forum, I went with an 18-200mm zoom. Mine happens to be a Sigma. This works well for Disney and travel in general if you don't want to tote around a lot of lenses. I would think you could get a bit better photo quality and greater aperture...

    December 2018 Check-in Thread

My wife and I will be doing a Disney Coast to Coast in December! We had this crazy idea a while back and booked our room at WDW and waitlisted for the Grand Californian (we're DVC). We didn't really expect the waitlist at GC to come though but it did! So it's Coast to Coast and back to back...

    1 piece of luggage??

I have some Tom Bihn pouches for cables and stuff. Their 3D organizer cube is great for toiletries. I also like, and kinda prefer, Red Oxx bags. I have a couple small bags from them. Both are excellent. A little expensive but you'll never need to buy another bag! Both have a life time...

Cell Phones or Smart Phones usage over in Italy???

Verizon has some GSM phones, they call them World Phones or World Devices. I use Verizon and mine happens to be. But, looking up the specs of that particular phone shows that it is CDMA only. Not a "World Phone". Verizon's International plans are not bad if you have a phone that can use...

Cell Phones or Smart Phones usage over in Italy???

Cell Phones or Smart Phones usage over in Italy???

With a local SIM it would typically be a different number, local to where the SIM is purchased. The "global" sims can be different. The one I have, for example, has a US number (with an area code from Minnesota!) but many will come with a European number or, for a fee, possibly both...

Cell Phones or Smart Phones usage over in Italy???

You do, absolutely. In the case of Verizon, if I recall their policy correctly, all phones are unlocked Internationally. At least those that can work internationally (they once called those "World Phones"). They are phones that have at least some of the GSM bands available. Some are unlocked...
