Looked at the photo-chromatic lenses last time I updated my prescription. Handy but, as others have said, they don't tend to get dark enough. Sooo...I also have the magnetic clip-ons. Not as convenient, perhaps, but, darker, better protection and polarized too.

Depending on your stamina and desires I'd agree with Aelin1977 on use of a backpack or a bag without wheels for carry on. Especially out side the US where the agents can often be a little cranky about bag sizes. I've never been asked to gate check a bag without wheels but my wife's wheeled bag...

Some time back (years), and based on advise in this forum, I went with an 18-200mm zoom. Mine happens to be a Sigma. This works well for Disney and travel in general if you don't want to tote around a lot of lenses. I would think you could get a bit better photo quality and greater aperture...
