Trans couple too afraid to go to Florida - how accepting is Disneyland?

Disneyland is so much fun. It's very diverse and accepting of others, and in a safe state. You could go during Anaheim Gay Days (looks like it's sept 22-24 this year) or Pride Nite (June 13 and 15, not sure if it's sold out though) and enjoy rainbow merch and food, and know that you'll be around...

    Adding a day?

Well that stinks! Guess I was just exceptionally lucky! Trying a new resort sounds fun too though. We don't mind switching hotels at all (our last trip we stayed in 3 different hotels, one by the airport, one on the coast, and one at Disneyland) but a lot of people don't like to do that. Good luck!

    Adding a day?

I just added a day yesterday. Surprisingly, with adding an additional night, the nightly rate went down. We were originally in a water view King room at GDT at Coronado Springs. Adding a night in the same room category would have been $200 more, which was awesome and a huge surprise since the...

    Genie Plus

Agree with others, G+ works really well at Disneyland. Much better than at WDW. At WDW, it's a race to get as many in as you can before they run out. At Disneyland, there are so many more times available and DCA is right next door. You can do a ton of rides on G+ back to back all day, or stack...

Those going next week, what's your plan for the cold?

We were there in October and one of our park days was very cold (I'm from Colorado - it really was cold!). Like others said, layers, but specifically this is what worked for me. I wore bike shorts with sweatpants layered on top, a tshirt, spirit jersey, and rain jacket. In the afternoon, the sun...

Gran Destino Tower or Swan for 4 nights in May?

Thank you so much everyone!! This is just the kind of detailed information I was hoping for! Just booked Gran Destino Tower and I'm so excited!!

Gran Destino Tower or Swan for 4 nights in May?

I had forgotten about EMH and didn't realize Swan counted for that! Looks like they haven't announced those dates for May yet, so I'm not sure. If it was offered at a park/day that worked for us we would go. I'll keep checking back. (I just looked at the times and we aren't really "stay at the...

Gran Destino Tower or Swan for 4 nights in May?

Between the room discount on Disney hotels and the huge fees for the Swan & Dolphin, these two options are roughly the same price for our stay. We're planning on 2 park days (MK and AK), and a day where we drive around Orlando to do some other things that interest us, Disney Springs, etc. WDYT...

Best shoe for DLR in January

I used to wear Birkenstocks at the parks and they were great for the most part, but occasionally I'd get a blister in a weird spot like the bottom of my foot. Before going on 3 Disney trips last year, I decided to try out some sneakers. I got a pair of Hokas and a pair of On Clouds. I wear the...

Terrible food at Disneyland this week

Oof the thought of that $26 scallop is killin me! We haven't felt the sit down places we've been to have been worth it. Blue Bayou is fun once in a while (more for the ambience), but the current menu is a no for me. We stuck to quick service the last two trips. We liked the breakfast Ronto...

    Room discounts late March 2023?

There were discounts last March (2022) but not sure about this year. I keep checking but nothing yet.

Gaining weight on a Disney vacation

I haven't been to the parks since I've been losing weight, but my plan is to give myself permission to not finish snacks and meals. At home I've gotten so much better about stopping eating when I'm full rather than clearing my plate. At Disney I know there have been times when I got tired of the...

    Getting in shape for Disney!

Yes, I'm going in 14 days and have lost 20 pounds! I wanted to lose 25 before the trip but we'll see. I've been losing 2.5 a week so it's possible. But I REALLY need to walk more, a lot more, in the next 2 weeks to get my walking legs ready!

    Favorite Non-Disney Accommodations?

We're picky and we love the Hojo! The remodeled rooms have a retro feel but are also modern, clean, and comfortable. We did learn that you have to book early to get a park facing room, but oddly enough my husband got a kick out of watching the traffic haha. But if we have a choice we go with...

October. Y'all are freaking me out.

We must have been lucky when we were there in March. We went on it 3 times and it was 15 min standby and about 5-10 with Genie+. In October we've seen the FP line at well over an hour (we haven't been in October since before the pandemic, so it was FP back then).

***Official DLR July 2022 Check-in Thread***

We'll be there July 13th just for one day, staying at the Hojo. We'll be at the beach for a few days before that. We were there in March and stayed at GCH, which was amazing. But we (my husband especially) were bummed about Pirates being closed, so whatdya know, we're going back. He wants to...

October. Y'all are freaking me out.

One thing that I didn't see mentioned here that's different that time of year is that Haunted Mansion Holiday has crazy wait times. Usually you can get on HM in 15-20 min but not in October. I would plan accordingly and book it with Genie+ right when you scan in or rope drop it.

    LAX - Safety

It's not unsafe, but it's a huge pain. If you're getting a rental car, it's extra super annoying. It's been several years since we've flown in to LAX so maybe it has changed, but I remember standing in a line at the rental counter, then standing in a line waiting for a shuttle, then standing in...

First trip to Disneyland and I have questions

We just got back from a 2 day trip. We only did quick service. We had a nice casual dinner at Jolly Holiday. There was ample seating and the view can't be beat! But this trip our favorite meals were from Galaxy's Edge. Some of our favorites were the breakfast Ronto Wrap (we started out sharing...
