    Uber/Lyft/Minnie Vans

DH and I will be driving down and staying on property so we will have a vehicle and are already paying the resort parking. But we have a few signature dinners planned at resorts where there will definitely be some adult beverages involved. As neither of us have any interest whatsoever in driving...

    Romantic Disney Honeymoon!

Our (delayed) honeymoon is coming up in May 1. For hotels I’d recommend Deluxe: Yatch Club, Grand Floridian or Poly; Moderate: POFQ (the most romantic of the moderated IMO) and as a bonus Value: POP - DH and I went with POP because we don’t expect to be at the resort much. 2. Romantic...

What is your Disney shameful secret?

I can’t stand Dole Whips I’ve never been on Space Mountain (and I love roller coasters) I think MK is ok but not all it’s hyped up to be (I adore EP, AK and HS). MK is always our first park to get it done with. Then we do EP, HS, resort day, EP again and save AK for last. We’ve been tempted...

    Public affection

HUGE thanks to you all for your supportive comments!!! I showed this thread to my son and after reading all your personal experiences he’s feeling a lot more comfortable. @Luxurious_Lumiere you got his feelings exactly right, and thank you so much for that. As for the hotel rooms; we are...

    Public affection

Hi everyone, I’m hoping this is the right place to post this. I’m a mom of a gay son and we are planning a family trip with me, my DH, our son and his boyfriend. DS will be 17 at the time and his bf will be 18. While talking about our plans DS raised an issue we never thought of before...

    Shellfish allergy- Teppan Edo

Thanks everyone. I know that even in the most careful of restaurants there’s still always a chance and I always carry my epipen. But now I feel more comfortable with booking Teppan Edo our next trip

    Shellfish allergy- Teppan Edo

has anyone with a shellfish or fish allergy eaten at Teppan Edo? With the chefs cooking right in front of you and with sharing a station with other dinners can Disney really prevent cross contamination? We’d love to try this restaurant, and I’ve always wanted to but with a shellfish allergy...

    Crossing the border: e-cigarettes

Confession time: I’m a smoker currently in the process of quitting by vaping. Yes, I know the jury is still out on vaping but it’s working for me when nothing else has. Does anyone know if I can cross the border when we drive down next May from Ottawa with my e-cigarette/vaporizer? They are...

Are Canadians still doing the DDP?

We use the dinning calculator as well. Excellent tool for figuring out if a Dining Plan works for your family.

My new hobby: Watching the exchange rate

I admit I bite the bullet today too. Exchanged $1000 and got $748 USD - it went right to paying off a chunk of our May 2019 trip. It’s been going up slightly the last few days ( a difference of $4). I was hoping to get at least $750 but didn’t want to push too far.

Is Disney Fun for Adults Because It's For Kids?

One thing I love about Disney is it’s appeal for so many age groups. Going with a child is so different than going just as adults. When DS was young it was all about QS Dining and whether or not there was something his royal pickiness would eat. Going with just DH now we are free to explore...

My new hobby: Watching the exchange rate

It seems like my latest hobby these days is watching the exchange rate and trying to determine when it’s high enough to transfer from our savings account into our US account. I’ve got my own spreadsheets for tracking and everything. Anyone else doing this? What’s your comfort level for exchange?

Are Canadians still doing the DDP?

It really does depend on your family and how you eat. We get the DxDP. DH is a 6’4” construction workers and DS is a 17 year old 6’6” football player - they definitely get our money’s worth at every meal. We tend to order the more expensive things on the menus and since it’s vacation we have...

    Jiko or Tiffins

Thank you all for your insight, it’s been immensely helpful. It looks like we are going to go with Tiffins for this trip and maybe Jiko the next. DH and I are always looking to explore as much as we can food wise (I’m a bit limited with a severe shellfish allergy and a more minor allergy to fish).

    Jiko or Tiffins

DH and I are interested in both Tiffins and Jiko but can’t decide between them. We haven’t been to either before and we can only do one. For those of you that have been to both which did you like better and why?

    ****Official May 2019 thread****

DH and I are officially booked for May 4-11 at POP. Originally we had planned a week in September 2018 but had to recently cancel for a family event. As we couldn’t get our top priority reservations in September we decided to move it to May 2019. So excited already! Just the two of us and no kids!

    Pro's and Con's of mid-day breaks?

DH and I are early risers so all our breakfast ADRs are for as early as I could get them, lunches are around noon and dinners are late evenings (we are on the DxDP). We are hoping to get our FPs for the mornings at each park and leave a four to five hour window each day. This way we have the...

How much do you take for spending money?

DH and I are going for 7 days in September. We are staying on site and have the DxDP. We have about $1600 for pure spending money. (We have separate budgets set aside for mousekeeping and dinning tips, as well as OOP drinks at F&W). DH calls this $1600 my shopping budget and that’s pretty much...

181 Days Out is Not Too Soon to Start Packing Is It?

There’s no shame in being an over planner. DH and I are heading to WDW in September. 161 days from now. I’ve got spreadsheets, lists, charts, everything. And here I am lurking in the DCL forum as I do a cost comparison and benefit analysis for our 2019/2020 trip -top contenders include Alaskan...
