    Resort Only Vacation

Sorry but yes, that sounds kind of crazy to me. The reason why I fell in love with Disney in the first place was seeing how much my children loved it, and how magical it was to them. Your kids are at the perfect age to enjoy the parks and still believe in the “magic.” While the parks are for...

Best Shrimp and Grits on property?

*bump* Finally planning our long awaited trip back and yup, still have shrimp and grits on the brain! I think that the restaurants have changed so much post-Covid so I’d like to revisit this thread! What do y’all think?

Best Shrimp and Grits on property?

I recently saw someone post a photo of them From HBD, I think you may still be able to get them if you ask for them even though they’re not on the menu currently.

    Magic Band or Card

I agree with the above poster, go right when it opens on a weekday and make a lunch reservation. It’s so crowded during the holiday season!

    Re-opening ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE??

There is a lot of speculation that it will be one of the last resorts to reopen. I wouldn’t bet on it anytime in the next 6 months. It’s my absolute favorite resort and I hope to be able to stay there again one day with it back to its former self!

    Favorite Disney Springs restaurants?

So far we’ve tried Homecomin’ (very disappointing food, won’t try again), d-Luxe Burger (decent), Raglan Road (yum!) and Boathouse (outstanding!). We will be staying close to Disney Springs this time around so would like to spend lots of time dining there. So far we have T-Rex on the list...

14days trip - additional activities for kids?

Obviously days at the pool will be at the top of the list! Also, lots of resorts do nighttime movies with little campfires in the evenings. And then there’s often kids club areas at the deluxe resorts. Most resorts have arcades as well. Eat a meal and do the Build-a-Bear dinos at T Rex in Disney...

What summer month would you pick?

    Early June for sure

    One day magic kingdom

You don’t really need a Magic Band these days if you’re not staying on property, as the Fast Pass system is discontinued due to Covid. The parks will be VERY busy the week of Christmas, so lines will be long. Wait times will be best at rope drop (park open) and before close. If you want to get...

Whirlwind birthday trip! What to do not in parks on the afternoon/evening of first day?

Disney Springs comes to mind - shopping, doing the Christmas tree walk, and a nice sit down dinner, possibly followed by dessert and drinks somewhere. The weekends at Disney spring have been pretty crowded lately, however. You could also do a monorail resort loop crawl, although I do believe...

    What would you do?

I am not a fan of split stays. I would say BWV for sure out of all the ones available for the full time. But I noticed that BLT is available for both halves of a possible split stay, would that be available for the full time? If so, I would pick that. Both resorts are walking distance to parks -...

    Future of buffets?

I think that touching doorknobs and elevator buttons is a world of difference from buffets where you people are touching food items. I wouldn’t even think to compare the two. Now, are buffets themselves hotspots for respiratory illnesses like Covid? Probably not. But after becoming more aware of...

Best Shrimp and Grits on property?

Wow lots of House of Blues votes!! Everyone who responded with House of Blues - it’s looks like there’s 2 versions on the menu, one with regular grits (which I prefer) for brunch and then another with the grit cake for dinner. Are y’all talking about the dinner or brunch version? I’ve had the...

    Future of buffets?

Yes, it is now served family style.

    Future of buffets?

I really hope so too. I do hope they figure out how to do a “cafeteria” style for the more varied buffets (Boma, Tusker, etc). Buffets really are a giant Petri dish.

List of the ultimate restaurants to eat at on 1st trip

Planning your first Disney trip is so much fun! I have a question - do you have children that will be with you? I see several character dining experiences on your list. Sometimes the popular character dining locations, unfortunately, seem to have some of the worst food. For example, both Ohana...

Best Shrimp and Grits on property?

Wow thanks for all the responses everyone! Sounds like Grand Floridian’s are a hit, hoping they get added back to the menu soon!

    Future of buffets?

Pre-covid, we were big fans of Disney buffets (especially for breakfast). However, now that I’m infinitely more aware of how germs are spread and can’t see myself ever eating at one again, to be honest. I know some restaurants that have reopened have gone to family style-type offerings, but...

    SSR or OKW?

Thanks so much for your input everyone! I think we are leaning towards SSR just in case the boats to DS still aren’t a running next year, but it really is a toss up!

Best Shrimp and Grits on property?

I’ve had Coral Reef and they were really good, I’m setting a goal for myself to try every shrimp and grits on property! What are your favorites?
