Which rooms have bathtubs besides the kids suites?

Thanks for the reply. I’ll look further into the booking process to see if I can find the request section. Usually, accessible rooms with a tub are few and far between. Most accessible rooms have the no step roll-in shower set up. The rooms with a tub and hand rails often called a “Florida...

Which rooms have bathtubs besides the kids suites?

This might be a little bit of an odd question, but does anyone know which Universal hotel rooms have bathtubs besides the kids suites? Because of muscle tightness due to a disability I need hot baths and can only handle showers for a couple of days at a time. It seems like all of the new hotels...

    Toddler & pool slides

On that one we will never agree. On a daily basis I accept a higher level of risk in order to function at a level I accept. I use forearm crutches on a daily basis. I skip them rather than walk them to increase the distance I can manage. I just made any Physical therapists who might read this...

    Toddler & pool slides

There are situations where I would absolutely recommend parents not go into advocate mode because it simply won’t help. This is an area where I believe it is worth educating yourself on what the true issues are, and seeing if there are any work arounds.

    Toddler & pool slides

What I would be trying to achieve is to find out what the specific concerns are that make it a safety issue. Just saying safety is not an acceptable answer. Ok, they are concerned one of the riders could be pulled under. They wear lifevests. They are concerned about smacking into each other on...

    Toddler & pool slides

I cringed at the splash pad suggestion. pulli from my own experience as a CP kid, yuck. 4 is young enough where that is still age appropriate. If she uses a manual wheelchair, I’d say let her loose and worry about clean up later, but it sounds like that might not work for her. She is getting...

    DAS for 12 Year Old

This is a bit off topic for the OPs question, but I want to say it for future readers. Kids and especially tweens are more perceptive than we sometimes remember. They can also infer and assume. If you are not clear with them on why you are doing something, they might assume another reason...

    DAS for 12 Year Old

You know your child’s situation best. If he is really uncomfortable, waiting to the side is an option. I’ll give you my personal view on this based on my experience as a child with Cerebral Palsy though. Even when I was uncomfortable and nervous advocating for myself growing up, I’m glad for the...

Has anyone ever taken a nap on purpose in first aid at the parks?

I did not notice the specific dates of the trip in your post. Is the trip this year or 2021 for the actual 50th? This year you should not hit closures except for the usual times. Expectations for the 50th are anyones guess though. You can pretty much toss crowd calendars out the window for next...

Has anyone ever taken a nap on purpose in first aid at the parks?

A short recovery rest the CMs should be fine with, but 2 hours would probably be pushing what they would be OK with though. I would not be surprised if he was nudged to go back to his hotel for a 2 hour rest. In the end it will probably come down to the space they have at the time.

7 passenger minivan or 7 passenger SUV to transport disassembled ECV scooter?

One of the extended Expaditions is where my thoughts went. I wish Ford still made the Excursion. You could just about get a cargo container into one of those. Edit: Updated the model names to the correct ones. Had them mixed up originally.

7 passenger minivan or 7 passenger SUV to transport disassembled ECV scooter?

SUV definitely. It will be higher to lift the scooter into, but storage is pretty limited in most minivans. Since you need all 3 rows of seats, I would look at the larger SUVs with dedicated rear storage behind the 3rd seat. Some of the mid size SUVs don’t have much more space than a minivan...

    Wheelchair assistance at airport?

i do not have personal experience with this, but previous reports on this board make me think this is not a sure thing. Not all lift equipped coaches may have a wheelchair on board. I would not count on one being provided.

    Power assist wheelchair rental

I have not used it on any public transportation ramps. I prefer to have full control in tight spaces like that. I was tempted to try it with the older Disney buses, but the slope of the ramp on the new character buses makes it unnecessary in my case.

    Power assist wheelchair rental

Yep, you are correct. It has some quirks. You wear something similar to a Fitbit that connects to the device by Bluetooth. It's set up so that you tap the band against your thigh to change settings. Double tap to start it moving, tap to lock in a speed as it ramps up slowly, then tap again to...

There is the SmartDrive which has a wristband, but you're talking about a $7,000 piece of equipment.

    Power assist wheelchair rental

Unfortunately, I think the point @SteveMouse was making is still a good one. These are pretty specialized devices and have a learning curve like a power chair. What is available are not like a power assist bike. That doesn’t exist as far as I know. What is out there are more like devices which...

Video of wheelchair accessible Blizzard Beach rides

As soon as I saw the thread title I wondered if it was going to be about Gem’s videos. She’s the only vlogger I know that has covered access at the water parks. All of her other videos are great as well.

    Rollator

CMs will treat a rollator similar to a manual wheelchair. She should not have to park it anywhere unless she wants to. It can go into the majority of lines. The one exception there might be which comes to mind is Jungle Cruise. That is a very tight standby line. They don’t like manual...

    Getting Wheelchair Around Buses/Rideshare

Standard folding chairs fit in most trunks. As long as it is not a larger bariatric chair you should be all set. The chair should just be treated like any other luggage. I would agree that you should not notify the driver. Most drivers are perfectly nice and helpful, but it is possible to get...
