Snowbird Sabbatical-Volunteering at the Marathon and Lynx bus travel to MCO

I'm back! I am doing another Snowbird Adventure. Not exactly a Snowbird Sabbatical, more like a new direction in life. After deciding it was time to buy my snowbird place near WDW, my husband and I were just getting ready to close on a Townhome in Windermere in February. Well, we found out...

Just for fun, Poly studios, what would you change

I would love a little storage chest in that big bathroom, and another toilet would be nice. But I do love Poly the way it is!

    Poly

Loved our visit in Tokelau a few weeks ago. We did laundry so Moorea would have been good as well. You really can't go wrong. I love a ground floor unit, so I don't care as much about views. We were right across from the quiet pool. It was the most relaxing time! It will probably never...

Help with resort choice, Poly v AK v BC v Boulder Creek v Riviera!!

Just got back from Poly 8 night stay. They had some games at the pools, and both pools have a very shallow end. The quiet pool has little fountains with water gushing up in a shallow area I think a toddler would love. We like first floor, so we had duck visitors every day. There are movies on...

Will the Poly be a half experience?

Just got back! It was a once in a lifetime I think, because there was such small crowds! No lines at the Pineapple Lanai, always chairs on the beach. The walkway to MK is great! For a 22 month old, maybe too long, but if you have a stroller, it's very peaceful. Probably 2 miles? Since...

    Indiana DVC owners group

Indy area, BWV and Vero owner since 2004. Heading down Thursday for a stay, looking at buying a condo! I tried the snowbirding in 2018 with a 7 month apartment, so fun! I wrote about it here. Fingers crossed...

What's your record studio stay with a full house?

I'm doing 8 days in a Poly studio in January with my dh and a dcousin, and my daughter and son in law may pop over for a night. We do have other relatives to visit if we get too cramped, but my question is, does anyone have any tips for using the space in the bathroom? It seems like there...

    BWV Views

The standards are located facing the side of the entrance to the resort and the drive/parking areas. I like them just fine! It's a personal choice of course, but I like to see the hustle and bustle of the housekeeping staff and buses coming in and out in the morning while I drink my coffee...

Will the Poly be a half experience?

I am going in January, and I plan to keep the Poly for 8 nights. We are going to be looking a real estate this trip, planning to buy a condo on this trip. While I love Trader Sam's and all the great things that will be closed, I am looking forward to this stay anyway, I just like the grounds...

Going back to Studios after 1BR...

We are fine back in studios. My kids are grown, and for a few years, I resisted and got 1 and 2 bedrooms just in case one of them could come along. It doesn't usually work out for them, so last year we rattled around in a 2 bedroom! We are walkers and love to be outside, so the studio is just...

Actual "living space" (bedroom area) sizes of studios?

I love Poly, totally my favorite studio! I don't know the SF, but I'm wondering if anyone here has a hack to use that extra space in the bathroom? Luggage rack inside maybe? Cooler space?

Tickets and Annual Pass Questions - Please add your ticket questions to this thread

Have I misses a thread on comp tickets? I have some from volunteering, will I be able to use them? They expire in February 2021 and I am planning a trip in January?

    HH Resort Statistics

I just stayed at HH for the first time in late June, a few days after it reopened. I had 2 nights in a studio, on my way to Florida. Here are my thoughts, mostly Covid 19 related I think. It was raining when I got there, so after the end of a long day, trying to figure out how get out and push...

    Poly or BLT??

I would always go Poly, unless I had a toddler for the quick walk to MK. Poly just seems more relaxing, you are outside quicker. BLT is nice, but sterile and you may always have to use an elevator. To each his own, obviously, but I am a ground floor, get outside as quick as possible kind of...

    HHI LOVERS THREAD

I am checking in Friday for 2 nights, on my way to visit my daughter. I've never stayed there, thought this was as good a time as any! I can't wait!

Would you do 2 days at Hollywood Studios or MK?

Are you interested in bars/lounges? Hollywood Studios has alcohol, a tasting room type brew pub area, and the outside lounge at the Brown Derby is a nice way to pass time and people watch. Plus the Italian fast food place? can't remember the name, has upstairs seating that is fun for...

HS to Riviera using the Skyliner.

You can also walk to Riviera from Caribbean Beach. I did it a few weeks ago, I hadn't been to Caribbean Beach in 28 years so it was nice to see it again! I am a walker though, so it might have been quite a distance...

    Any Disney-area snowbirds here?

I did a 7 month apartment lease last year, loved every minute. I worked 2 weeks home and 2 weeks remotely in the Florida apartment. I posted info here https://www.disboards.com/threads/snowbird-sabbatical-volunteering-at-the-marathon-and-lynx-bus-travel-to-mco.3710413/ I left my car most of...

    MCO to Disney Springs hotels?

The bus (Lynx) stops at Disney Springs. If you are a light packer and like to walk, that is a cheap option. it is $2 per person I think. At least the last time I did it. $4.50 for an all day pass. It takes a long time though. Lyft is great and super fast!
