How are you handling rising food and energy costs?

We have something to alert us if we lose power while away but I don’t really know what it is haha. My husband is a plumber and it’s something he made sure we attached to the sump pump for when the power goes out. So it obviously won’t protect our freezer but at least we will be able to tell if...

How are you handling rising food and energy costs?

It has honestly been one of my favorite things we have done since buying our house! Not only does it give us the opportunity to store leftovers and bulk buy when we see sales, but we also have a vacuum sealer so we pre-portion everything out before freezing and it makes my life so much easier...

How are you handling rising food and energy costs?

We try to buy in bulk when possible and have multiple freezers to help with that. While grocery shopping today we found 10lb tubes of ground beef for $1.49 a pound and couldn’t pass that up so we bought…a few haha. We will portion them out and freeze them for future use!

    Narrowing down college choices

When I was looking at schools, my major wasn’t offered everywhere so I was able to narrow down to 7-8 schools total to visit. My dad was awesome and took me kind of all over to visit them - we went to NY, PA, MA, TN, FL, and a few in my home state of IL. For those initial visits we tried to ask...

Would you want the financial status you had at 25 years old back?

Nope! Granted 25 for me was less than 5 years ago, but my husband and I have made major strides since then financially

How Much Is Your 2022 Disney Vacation Going to Cost You?? $$

Our upcoming stay for 7 nights in the resorts, 2 day tickets with the water park option, and tickets for MNSSHP is $2700. That’s for 2 adults with 2 nights at the Poly and 5 nights at ASMusic. Don't really have a budget yet for food or gas haha. The two Poly nights were just added this past...

    ***Official September 2022 Thread***

So excited to be less than two weeks away! We weren’t supposed to be going back this year but found a great deal at ASMusic for Labor Day week and then just added on an additional two days at Poly for Sept 3-5 - it‘s my dream resort so we’re using it as a little honeymoon staycation haha...

How many getaways/vacations do you have planned?

Two officially booked - WDW this upcoming Labor Day week for our ‘honeymoon’ and then Daytona Beach next April for Jeep Beach Week. There will most likely be a few long weekend off-roading trips throughout the year as well, but traveling isn’t as easy/quick/affordable as we wish it could be...

    Gradual release

Yes! And honestly one thing I was so grateful for was even if my parents couldn’t help financially, they always made sure we understood the ins and outs of our own finances: what were our student loans going to look like based on going to so and so school and their tuition, what kind of car...

    Gradual release

I’ll answer as the young adult: after graduating my parents made it clear I was more than welcome to move back home for as long as needed as long as I was working. Their goal for my brother and I was always to allow us to 1. Focus on paying off our student loans and 2. Also try to save a decent...

What is the furthest drive you have done on one drive?

Every trip to WDW we drive straight thru to/from the Chicago area so about 1,200 miles. We intended to drive straight home from Moab, UT earlier this year which would have been about 1,400 miles but the others we were with aren’t as crazy as we are and wanted to stop for the night

Do you display US flags or have red, white and blue out?

I would not usually display a flag but my husband would have one up at all times if up to him, so we compromise and he puts one up just for holidays

    Salmon Questions!

I love sweet glazed salmon, so my favorite is to place the filets on a cookie sheet, top with salt and pepper, and then cover in a glaze. The one I make is about 1/4 cup of brown sugar mixed with 2-3 tablespoons of Dijon mustard. Then bake at 425 for 25 minutes!
