Aulani Dining - What am I missing?

I've heard Ulu Cafe used to be much better, but around 5 years ago they really simplified the menu and took off some of the unique Hawaiian specialties. Now it's just standard quick service food and the make your own poke bowl station. Foodland delivers to Aulani and has a good hot and cold...

    Let’s talk fried chicken sandwiches!!

I've been to Homecomin once, and the chicken fried steak was good, but the moonshine drinks were the star of the show. I think people who go there just have a good time and don't remember why. Chicken Guy's mac n cheese is really good, but the chicken is bland and kind of sad. Thinnest tenders...

Be our Guest lack of value.

It's only worth it to me if you get the escargot to start and pork chop or steak. The charcuterie board also used to be a decent option. But the fact that 1/5 apps and 2/6 entree choices are the only good values says a lot.

Which resort has the best standard room?

I have to agree with Poly. Big rooms with a fun, gorgeous design.

Controversial Topics Board, what is it like over there on the other side?

It's mainly politics. Trump vs Biden, 2024 election, other random political stories popping up. The other 20% are random topics that can be debated back and forth, like college being worth it or gun control.

slo’s MONDAY 3/25 poll - What Type Of Morning Person Are You?

I'm not a morning person at all, unless it's vacation day. Then I'm happily up at 5 am.

A lot of high end cruises and guided tours are truly all-inclusive. Every drink and restaurant on-board is included, spa appointments and a list of 10 different excursions, and even your flights and hotel the night before. But these tend to start at double the price of Disney.

I have heard several stories about upsells on DCL, so maybe my experience hasn't been the same as everyone else's. There are certainly vacations where this is possible, but only very high end, much more expensive than Disney.

Not on the pool deck. I've seen the coolers of water for sale, especially on port days, but not the beer.

It's not impossible to walk by, but it's also pretty trashy in my opinion. What beer package does DCL offer? Or was this the refillable mug?

It definitely varies by cruise with those other companies. I agree with other posters about how it doesn't feel very luxury to me, and I'm happy Disney doesn't do it.

    Switch dining after first night?

Yes, Disney can still make dining room changes after the first night. No guarantees, but going from early to late is usually no problem, since most people on board want early.

Disney doesn't push it nearly as much as Royal or Carnival, in my experience. Yes they do have plenty of extras you can pay for, but on other crusielines it seems like they are constantly pushing ads around the ship and have crew members who do the same. Things like Palo, Remy, and BBB are...

    Pecos Bill toppings bar

Even though the toppings bar is gone, I still enjoyed it last time I went. Granted I had to add a lot of hot sauce to the chicken.

Talk to me about Princess Cruises

The newest ships are getting better. I was on NCL Encore, which has an enclosed smoking section of the casino. The smell would leak into the non-smoking park of the casino, but not out into the atrium or bars next door. But this is pretty new, and any ship built before the mid-2010s will have...
