Now I've seen it all... Genie+ for hire

Maybe Disney will catch wind of the money-making opportunity and start offering it themselves... a "Genie+ concierge". But that would be implying that their system is so cumbersome that they need an option to pay extra to avoid having to use it.

If you love DCL and have found an all-inclusive that meets expectations

I just want to chime in that I love this question! We've been wondering the same thing.

5 people in a room? - Deluxe Family Oceanview w/ Verandah

I wouldn't do it for a cruise that long for two reasons. 1. Storage would be really tight with 5 people. We find there are enough drawers for 3 people, maybe 4 if you use lots of hangers. 2. On our recent cruise, we were 2 adults and 4 kids in connecting rooms. One kid got a stomach bug almost...

    Online Check-In Question

They don't ask for the form until embarkation. For online check in you just need photo and passport or birth certificate, like for everyone else- once you upload that, i think they ask if a parent/guardian is traveling with the child, and when you select "no", you'll see a little reminder to...

Royal Gathering - adult required with young kids?

I booked the Royal Gathering at midnight check in day, before I did the check in. There was lots of availability, but I heard that people who did the check-in first and then came back to book the gathering didn't have as much luck.

Royal Gathering - adult required with young kids?

I would book two, but on the Dream recently for the reserved character meets, they weren't really checking the number of people, they just had you hold up your phone and looked at the time. I'm not sure what the advantage is of only booking one, though?

What's the thinking on ordering extra dishes to try at the Main Dining room restaurants?

Yes, on our recent cruise my son ordered some lobster bisque and didn't like it because it was too salty. The server chimed in, "That's why I didn't recommend it, it is too salty!"

Same. They got the email address at booking, then it was never mentioned again.

Advice on Miami vs FLL airport

We did FLL. We didn't use uber/taxi, but based on what we observed it would be very easy to do what you describe.

    Ship Wifi on Castaway Cay

Yes, we found the navigator app to be terrible on Castaway this past week- couldn't even use the chat to communicate with one another, which made it hard since we had a large group.

you're offered $25k to permanently move to the home directly opposite you would you accept?

Umm, yes. It's a giant mansion with 2 people living in it while my family of 6 is cheerfully squeezed into a house half the size. You wouldn't even need to pay me.

What specific instructions do you give your kids

Thanks so much, this is all extremely helpful for thinking through the expectations.

What specific instructions do you give your kids

to help them stay safe on the ship AND not annoy other passengers? My oldest makes pretty good decisions and didn't really require much instruction last time, but middle child will have more freedom this trip and is also more likely to push boundaries. I need some concrete rules! All I have...

    Disney gift cards

Bumping this up to see if anyone has firsthand experience... considering buying each kid a gift card to allow some freedom but limit spending. This would seem to suggest it works, but I'd rather heard from someone who did it...

HS friends DCL trip - but they are <18

I asked a phone CM if it was OK for me and my husband to sleep in one room and kids in the connecting. She said, "Mickey doesn't do bed checks."

    Transportation from fll to port

We are flying in the evening before the cruise. We have 8 people and rented cars (2) from fll to Port Miami. It was less than $100 per car. After the cruise, we arranged transportation from port to fll with a private shuttle service for $180.

CAR rental experience at MCO (through Costco)

One tip... since the rental isn't charged until you pick up the car and can be canceled any time, it's worth checking prices periodically because they fluctuate. You can easily book a new reservation if a better price shows up, and then cancel the old one.

Can you cancel an activity through the app onboard?

I canceled a wine tasting on board, and I had to go to guest services.

I kept getting lost and missing things my first day in the parks... wouldn't have accomplished much if that had been our only day.
