Bill Cosby’s conviction overturned - will be released today

What a horrifyingly disgusting point of view. Sexual assault, as defined today, was NEVER okay, no matter how much perverts got away with it before. Recognizing that actions that people laughed at or excused in the past are and always were wrong on every level isn't moral panic. It's correcting...

Stimulus check and college kids - who gets it

Because some people want to give their kid that money? It’s fine to not give it to them if they aren’t entitled to it, but if a parent wants to do so out of generosity, why would you care that they choose to do so? Nobody is saying a parent *has* to give it to them if it’s deposited in the...

    Texas to open 100%

    How shortsighted and reckless.

Wishables should be removed based on gambling mechanism - Opinion

You do realize that you don’t have to say those specific words and yet can convey the same meaning, right? You said that these things will normalize gambling. Later you said that normalizing drinking can encourage people to drink later. So, to you, normalizing something leads people to try...

Would you have elective surgery next week? UPDATE! Page 4

I actually am, but I’m going to a surgical center and not a hospital, and I feel much more comfortable with that option.

When do you put away the Christmas decorations?

I voted Jan. 8, but my official date is “the weekend after Jan. 6, unless it’s completely freezing or raining or snowing, then it might be a bit later,” but somehow that wasn’t a choice. :rotfl:

Wishables should be removed based on gambling mechanism - Opinion

That isn’t gambling. Your comparisons are not valid. If you don’t like it, be a parent and tell your kid, “No, we’re not going to buy it.” Done.

PhD -- do you use the title Dr?

Maybe it depends on the social and professional circles you are in, but I wouldn’t automatically assume that someone introduced to me as Dr. So-and-so was a medical doctor. And I believe that sentiment would be accurate for most people I know.

    How long masks and kids?

I hope masks are mandated in schools until we are able to reach true herd immunity. I work with kids in grades 4-6. They are fantastic at wearing their masks correctly in school. Social distancing is, however, a struggle. Not to mention that so many of their families are not at all following...

Heard of another shut down happening

They can’t because it doesn’t exist. At most, some opposition ads took other statements completely out of context, making it sound like he was saying that when it wasn’t the case at all.

Anybody know the legality of this?

Allowing visitors for the mental health sake of residents could fall under a compassion exemption. Packing up an apartment would not.

Please don't release balloons at memorials or celebrations!

Excellent post and reminder to those who either (somehow) don’t know or forget things like this!

Are you sending your kids to school next month?

Yeah, that’s not what you said originally. Have a lovely day. I’m out.

Are you sending your kids to school next month?

Even if what you claim is actually true, your obvious feeling of superiority over anyone who you assume has less education than you is readily apparent and extremely distasteful.

    What an incredibly condescending post.

    College parents...fall semester?

Wearing a mask on campus, whether indoors or out, seems to be the rule, not the exception, from what our kids tell us about their friends’ schools.

    College parents...fall semester?

My daughter just started at a small college a few weeks ago. All students were tested upon arrival, and had to quarantine in their rooms for 48 hours, only leaving to retrieve boxed meals from the dining hall. Off-campus students were tested as well, and expected to obey by the quarantine rules...

Are you sending your kids to school next month?

That sounds about right to me, especially depending on what area she's in. Our son's lease in his college town is $500 a month (plus utilities) per person, but they're not in a metro area, and there were definitely more expensive places he looked at.

    College parents...fall semester?

Our youngest just wrapped up her first week of classes, all on campus. They tested everyone on move-in, has everyone quarantine for 48 hours,, and isolated the five positive cases that they had. They are doing another full round of testing next week, so we’ll see how that goes. Crossing my...

Are you sending your kids to school next month?

I admin the unofficial parent page for our son's college. I just declined the first of many, I'm sure, attempts to post articles about surges and hotspots at other colleges. I just don't need the page to be clogged up to high heaven with these articles when they're all over the news anyway.
