Best Place to Purchase Universal Tickets

We bought three-entry tickets from Costco that were a great deal. However, you have to reserve ahead, and you can only reserve one day at a time, so they’re not ideal for multi-day visits.

Character Schedule at Universal Studios Hollywood?

    Legoland...for girls?

Yes, we went and my 10yo girl had a blast. Neither she nor the 4yo boy was particularly into Lego beforehand, and the more important theming seemed to be of the individual rides. (For example, the ocean theme of the submarine ride was more important than the Lego aspect.) That said, it was an...

Character Schedule at Universal Studios Hollywood?

The online wait times page for USH also used to show character times. Now the page appears to be down: https://m.universalstudioshollywood.com/waittimes/?type=all&site=USH Does anyone know a current online source for character schedules? I don’t see them in the app.

    Talk to me about Universal!

The advice I’ve heard is to get there before opening, head to FJ at rope drop, then do the wand shop next, then the Hippogriff ride, then start soaking in the atmosphere and casting spells :) One of our trips was on a weekend day, and this advice seemed pretty good.

    Universal studios first timer

I would plan to be there for the park’s open hours if you can manage it. Our Potter fan has happily spent hours casting spells with her interactive wand, soaking up all the detail in the shops, watching the performances, etc. You don’t want to cut that short because you planned for USH to be a...

    March 8 at Universal Hollywood?

I checked the hours again this morning: still odd. I tried calling this morning but couldn’t get through the phone tree. But I checked in the app just now and they’re perfectly normal: 9am-7pm. Not sure what was going on, but I guess we’ll stick with our plan to visit that day.

    March 8 at Universal Hollywood?

We’ve been planning a March 8th trip to Universal Studios Hollywood. But I just tried checking the hours on the app and website with very odd results (screenshots attached). Anyone know what’s going on?

    Talk to me about Universal!

Yes. The first time we went, we bought wands in the morning but did most of our spell casting in the afternoon. The second time we went to Ollivanders quite late in the day, when there was literally no line, and my 10yo was the only child and got chosen for the wand pairing (which was great for...

    Talk to me about Universal!

For my 10yo, a definite must-do is spending an hour (or more) going around Hogsmeade and casting spells. This requires buying one of the “interactive” wands from Ollivanders, but for her (and her 5yo brother, I was surprised to find out) it’s totally worth it. We haven’t been in months and they...

At USH, you might want to save Potter for last

It went better than I expected. Mostly, the 10yo didn’t want to do things that the 4yo was too short to do (like Revenge of the Mummy). The one exception was Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, which is part of what was good about saving that for after dinner. At that point we’d spent most...

    Universal Studios Hollywood questions

For finding the locations, we also asked at Ollivanders if we could get a map and they were happy to give us one.

    Universal Studios Hollywood questions

I believe Wizarding World is 30 minutes. Jurassic wasn’t yet opened when we went, but I suspect it’s the same. Unfortunately I don’t know about Express Pass.

The Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle

The show times seem to vary night by night, starting after sundown. We found the times three places: as a park update in the app, on digital signs around the park, and on a paper at the Guest Relations office.

At USH, you might want to save Potter for last

We were at Universal Studios Hollywood on Monday, July 8th. This was our second visit at USH and part of a longer trip with my wife, 10yo daughter, and 4yo son. Trip reports from our first USH day (in March) and this trip’s two days at Legoland (July 4th and 5th) are on this board. We arrived...

Express Pass and Military (MWR purchased) tickets

I’d check with Universal’s Guest Relations. I’ve found them quite responsive.

July 4th Legoland w/ ECV, gluten free

Glad to hear it! I found this board really useful when planning for Disneyland, but haven't been able to find as much good information for Legoland or other spots, so that's why I wrote such a long post. :)

July 4th Legoland w/ ECV, gluten free

We tried Airbnb for the first time. We had a very positive experience with hosts in Oceanside. Glad to hear the Legoland food is good in general!

July 4th Legoland w/ ECV, gluten free

We did a two-day trip with two kids: a 10-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy. (The 4yo was about to turn 5 — we were in part celebrating his birthday.) My wife and I are gluten free and I’m in an ECV, so I’m also sharing things relevant to that. We started with a half day in LA and took the kids...

USH w/ kids, ECV, gluten free, at Sheraton

I’ve heard since that the Sheraton gives early entry. They never mentioned this to us. Maybe because we booked through a third party website? Another frustrating thing about our stay there.
