Suggestions for PTSD flashbacks while at DLR

So I took another trip with my annual pass on Wednesday. Just me and my service dog. This time I went later in the afternoon into the evening, and I successfully avoided any hypoarousal flashbacks. (I also ralked to my doctor back east on how to work with these flashbacks to try to ground...

Suggestions for PTSD flashbacks while at DLR

Thank you guys for responding to my question. I see what you're saying that if I actually do faint, they will probably call 911 and definitely not use my medication in my pack. Let me change the question, because it's more what I'm getting at -- for prevention -- do you have any ideas for...

Suggestions for PTSD flashbacks while at DLR

Thank you so much for your reply! I think a card might be a good idea! I also have a leash wrap on my service dog's leash that says that due to my disorders, (I may experience) and then it lists a few things like drowsiness, slurring and fainting -- so people are aware. But I think a card...

Suggestions for PTSD flashbacks while at DLR

I forgot to add, that thanks to God, no one was hurt when I crashed my car from my flashback. Just me, and it wasn't too bad. I hit a parked car of all things. I'm very thankful no one was hurt.

UPDATE: Please read edit at bottom of post. Hi everyone! I'm Beth. I'm pretty inconsistent on the boards because I usually get more involved when we're planning a trip to WDW, but I'm now back in southern California again and my WDW trips are farther between -- though I'm a Magic Key pass...

Old hubby has a new knee!

Mamabunny -- hi. It's so good to see you. I hope you and your husband are doing better. I'm almost embarrassed to be back. I made such a big deal of WANTING to be back and then I got overwhelmed and left again, so sorry to be in and out everybody. I was just so shocked when I read this post...

Off Site hotel ECV in shuttle?

Hi! I've only stayed in Good Neighbor hotels (near Disney Springs) and they have an arrangement with a shuttle company too. From what I remember most recently (June 2022) there was an accessible shuttle available, but you had to reserve it specifically. At the time, you had to make a reservation...

Hi! Thank you so much for the encouragement! I'm glad to hear Disney was receptive to your feedback, and I am optimistic they will be to mine too. Take care!

    A Funny Story from DTD

A quick update: When this happened earlier in the week, I wrote a message to Disneyland's customer service to request that they please give further education to their guards. They actually wrote me back saying they were very concerned and would like to discuss this with me for more details! I...

Looking for Like-minded friends (crossposted from DisAbilities forum)

Hi! I usually post on the disAbilities forum and there are some great people over there. But I recently found out about this board, and thought this recent post of mine might work a little better over on this board. I hope you don't mind me posting or find me too forward. This is what I posted a...

I Haven't Been To Disneyland Since Last March Which Is Make It Difficult To Come Back

Dlgal, What a thoughtful and kind response. I really hope this helps TS, and gives him some hope! Disney is therapy for lots of people! It's hard when something that makes you feel good is "taken away" (or changes in a way you're not used to!) Best, Beth

    Zoomer Chair

Hey iuki! Thanks for the reply. As far as my situation with the power chair goes -- I went into remission from my POTS diagnosis a couple of years ago, and amazingly was able to sell it to another person with POTS who really needed it (since I didn't anymore!) I never expected to go into...

    Looking for Like-minded friends

HI guys!! I'm sorry I haven't gotten to respond to the newer comments until now! Skipping my meds for a night due to some flashbacks etc lead to a pretty horrible couple of days. I'm feeling a little more grounded and able to communicate today so I'm so happy to respond! Dear Judy -- thank you...

    A Funny Story from DTD

thank you so much Sue! The only reason I approached with my card out, is that DTD won't let you in at all unless you answer the two questions! It's their protocol! And you're right, it's not typical! It's the only place that I go that requires that without fail!

You get what you pay for!

I grew up in Anaheim and going to DLR all those years. But as an adult, my husband and I have started going to WDW and have been there a couple of times (3 for me total.) We like to stay in a Good Neighbor Hotel, typically Doubletree Disney Springs. I always manage to find a great price (it's...
