    Patrick from Soarin

Just saw Patrick on a commercial on tv for a car rental company (not sure if you allow “commercials” to be advertised)

A Quick Trip Report (June 23-27)

I really enjoyed your trip report. It sounds like you did a superb job of pre-planning, which is no easy feat. Your Mom sounds like she’s a lot of fun and thank you for sharing what sounds like a very magical family trip!

    Remind me of bus etiquette

I visited my daughter in New York City a few years ago and she gave me the following pointers. Never make eye contact with anyone on public transportation - ever. Keep your eyes focused on a book. Also, After I gave a homeless man a few dollars because he was sitting on the sidewalk with two...

I swear, my house is haunted

Have you lost a close friend or relative recently? They could be saying hi.

Have you ever had a friendship end? If so, post.

This topic is very interesting and provokes some introspection. I’ve allowed acquaintanceships (not sure if they were real friendships) to lapse, mainly because I changed as I grew older. I reached a point after age 60, where I just didn’t have the patience to deal with certain behaviors...

I Love Craig and Kylee vlogs!

Agreed. The looks on their faces clearly show if they like a food or not. Such fun, upbeat videos.

    No FOP on 10/28

For what it’s worth, when I went on at my 60 day mark which was six weeks ago, I logged on at 6:50 am, and I could book my FP. I’m sure it was a fluke, but I was such a nervous wreck from all the planning, that I figured I’d try a few minutes early. Who knew?

    Feeling a bit mopey...

Glad you made it home safely. Now you have another travel story to tell in addition to your actual vacation. Hope your insurance can cover some of your repairs.

    Feeling a bit mopey...

Hope AAA gets there and fixes everything. At least it happened at the end of the trip and not at the beginning. Safe trip home.

    Flight of Passage motion

I’ve overcome my fear of heights on Soarin. I tried FOP once and after a few moments, I just closed my eyes and I was fine. I’ve come to realize that I get nauseous and motion sick from any ride with 3D glasses-Toy Story Mania included. With me, it’s age-related and became an issue after age 65.

Help! Major knee issue and need advice on the best shoes to wear

My experience with a knee I torqued (don’t know the medical term for my injury) a few years ago: iced it when in acute pain and Ibuprofen for the swelling. When I was feeling better, I started using an elliptical machine at a low speed, with no incline or resistance. I just used it as long...

    Bugs in Magic Kingdom ?

My daughter (47) and I get this rash every trip to WDW. We bring a good supply of Vitamin E capsules which we cut open and put the oil on the rash. It works great to heal the skin.

Cheerleader competitions impact on park crowds

I’ve been there several times when cheer/dance competitions were happening. My experience was that the weekend competitions happen during the morning hours and the winners then continue competing in the afternoon. I met some competitors and their guardians in line for the Safari one evening...

Packing a suitcase with rain in forecast

just a tip for packing a soft-sided suitcase during a rainy time of year. Line the inside of the suitcase with a large trash bag and pack everything inside the bag. I pack everything in packing cubes and then put the packing cubes inside a large plastic zippered bag that I got when I bought a...

Ever been ignored at a restaurant?

Yes, but my situation was quite unique. About 20 years ago, my husband and I stopped at an Italian restaurant just outside of Boston, in the mid-afternoon. The hostess showed us to a table in a large dining room and we were the only customers. We looked at the menu, sat and talked and then...

Is there a humane way to get rid of rats?

Twenty years ago I lived in Massachusetts and they had a law prohibiting transportation of trapped animals - any animal - citing the possibility of the animal being rabid. Just an fyi in case of using a live trap. Rats carry diseases, ticks, and can be confrontational, not to mention that many...
