Hello. I got an email from the Disboards saying, "Here's what you've missed while you've been gone" or something to that effect. And I figured if the board was sending me an email basically asking if I'm still alive, then maybe I should check in here again. LOL! And yeah... no good excuse. Just...

Update on my mom - doing GREAT!

So about 3 months ago, I posted asking for recommendations for a wheelchair for my mom, who had fractured her pelvis after an encounter with some friends' overly friendly dog. Since I posted on here, I thought I should do an update. As you can see from the title, she is doing GREAT! She's not...

Oh, I wanted to post an update on K. I’m doing a separate post for those who already saw my first post. They replaced the battery and one of the leads. He was struggling with post-anesthesia nausea, but his mom just posted that he’s doing better now.

slo’s TUESDAY 1/23 poll - Soda vs Pop vs Coke 🥤

This is interesting. I live in St. Louis and everyone I know calls it soda. And if you look at the map that was done a few years ago, St. Louis is a bright red soda blob/island... I don't know how accurate this is anymore, but I would say St. Louis is definitely soda.

Getting personal here. What Generation are you?

I'm also an older millennial (83), and I'm with kelardy84. I feel like I fit the "micro-generation" better. We grew up "along side" technology and learned and adapted with technology. Technology didn't define us. I don't like how millennials are often stereotyped, because even in a lot of the...

*waves* Hello. I'm back. No real reason I've been gone. Just kept getting "too late" to do this. But I did have to buy myself a new laptop on a somewhat urgent basis a couple of weeks ago. I could blame that, too. But really? Just me being like, "Oh, I've been away for so long, one more day...

Swear Words That Aren’t Swear Words

So one day in 8th grade, I was trying to open my locker, not realizing that I was one locker away from my actual locker. Couldn't open it, dropped my clay something or other from art, and yelled out "Stoobie!" (Rhymes with ruby??) I may have used it for a little while, but it was mostly a one...

    Reading Challenge/Goals for 2024

I exceeded last year's goal by a bit, and am starting off with an easy read that I already have a decent start on, so I'll go with 18. Not quite ready to go for 20 yet, I don't think.

16/25 - The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris - Historical fiction about the man who tattooed the numbers onto his fellow prisoners at Auschwitz. Inspired by a true story. A good read, but a heavy read. I saw (but didn't read) an article about how it's been criticized for being...
