    Lizards in the bedroom!!

Lizards occasionally getting inside is completely normal in Florida. Being freaked out about lizards occasionally getting inside is also completely normal. I moved from Minnesota to Florida in 2001. For the first few years I lived in Orlando. Now, I'm in Fort Lauderdale. Florida is a...

    Giving away dining credits

I agree that this is probably the reason for the quizzical looks. I used to work at the Disney Reservations Center. Back when I was there, the overwhelming majority of guests were not on the Dining Plan. Two of Walt Disney World's biggest markets are Annual Passholders and Florida Residents...

Marriott joining WDW nixing small toiletries

For the record, I believe InterContinental Hotels (Crowne Plaza, InterContinental, Holiday Inn, and other brands) was the first hotel group to announce the elimination of the tiny plastic bottles. That was at the end of July 2019...

How does Disney handle cancellations due to a Hurricane?

I agree that Miami will likely be okay. That said, it's not really a good idea to travel into an area that might be experiencing tropical-storm-force winds. If the storm continues on the projected path, I'd recommend canceling regardless of whether your husband has to work. As for Disney...

Split Stay - Switch Day of Hurricane?

According to the 11pm update on 8/29/19, the above information is incorrect. The thing to watch is tropical-storm-force winds. That's typically the trigger for the shutdown of municipal services like airports and public transportation. I would guess that Disney also uses that as a benchmark...

    News Round Up 2019

That's really insane. According to Bing Maps, Tropical Storm Dorian is about 1,800 miles (2,875 km) from Orlando right now. For reference, the following areas are also about 1,800 miles away from Orlando: Billings, Montana; the Grand Canyon; and Winnipeg, Canada.

    Strangest experience at MCO

Woodview: It's not unusual for passengers and baggage to get separated when connecting through a major hub. Domestic flights are not subject to Positive Passenger Bag Match. (That's the rule that says checked baggage can only be transported on the same flight as the ticketed passenger.) If...

    Swan room credit

You should contact the hotel and ask. Back when I worked in hotels, we sometimes offered categorical credits as service recovery gestures. So, if the problem was related to food & beverage, the credit was limited to food & beverage. This was done so that the department that caused the problem...

    embassy suites altamonte

My guess is that the upgrade is for a higher-priced suite. The suite might be larger or perhaps have a better view. It doesn't have anything to do with the reception. As other people have noted, everyone staying at the hotel gets the "free" reception.

    News Round Up 2019

I guess I don't understand the anger/annoyance. Outside of Cast Members, the only people that would be interested in this project at hardcore Disney fans. (The general public doesn't care about Joe Rohde or other behind-the-scenes folks.) Announcing it at a Disney fan convention makes perfect...

    JFK-MCO JetBlue

Your best bet is probably to compare the current price for nonstop flights on Delta. The following are the first outbound flight on May 27, 2020 and the last return flight on June 1, 2020. The current price: Basic Economy (seats assigned after check-in): $196.60 + $30 baggage = $226.60 per...

    Vineland Outlet - WIFI?

Hopefully someone will be able to answer your question. But if you don't get any responses, you can contact the mall operator (Simon) by calling, using the web form, or asking via one of the social media links found on this contact page: https://www.simon.com/contact?mallId=874

departure time going to MCO in May

Across all airlines, flight cancelations are rare. According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the cancelation percentage year-to-date is 2.35%. So, having a flight canceled is unlikely. Since you mention the flight nonstop between Detroit and Orlando, that means you're looking at...

Some questions regarding the B Resort and Best Western Disney Springs area hotels.

It depends upon the time parks close. "One-way bus service from the 4 Disney theme parks operates daily from 4:00 PM until 11:00 PM or 2 hours after theme parks close, whichever is earlier." Source: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/bus-transportation/ It's worth noting that...

Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

Back when I worked at the Disney Reservations Center (as a Reservation Sales Agent and then a Trainer), this was one of the Top 10 most frequently asked questions we'd get from callers. The only "free" transportation that is restricted to Disney Resort guests is Disney's Magical Express.

DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Orlando / WDW Half Marathon

I've never heard of this type of special transportation being offered at the Disney Springs Hotels. I'd recommend contacting the hotel and asking. You can find contact information (phone and email) on the DoubleTree Suites page on the marketing website for the Disney Springs Hotels...

    Southwest discontinuing some Orlando flights

Sometimes people confuse demand for profit. Certainly, there's great demand for nonstop flights between New York City and Orlando. But, each city pair has a limit to the maximum fare an airline can charge. That limit is based in part on how many other airlines offer flights. Generally, more...

    No more lotion...

That only works if you know in advance. As other folks mentioned, virtually all mid-level hotels in the United States provide lotion as a basic amenity. It's not normal for anyone to have to check to see if their hotel is going to provide basic amenities.

    Potential fraud at Disney?

Disney has certainly done some questionable things. (Example: Replaced IT workers with cheaper H-1B visa holders.) But, this whistleblower seems to have credibility issues. She was terminated and filed a complaint with the Department of Labor over that termination. From the article: "Kuba...

Hilton Lake Buena Vista - Buses / Magic Bands / General Questions

Correct. The Disney Springs Hotels buses do support those events. After an event, you'll need to provide your own transportation back to the hotel. More or less. Each bus goes to two theme parks. One Bus: Hilton Lake Buena Vista --> Holiday Inn Disney Springs --> B Resort and Spa -->...
