DIS Unplugged used to be about Trip Planning

When we started taking trips, we just stayed at All-Stars and kept costs down. We were younger and spent most of our time in the parks. With the expansion of New Fantasyland and other announcements like FP+ (or MM+?) in the 2010s, there was a huge void where the information needed to go to have...

Is anyone considering postponing a trip?

We postponed our Disney trip. The way things are operating leaves too much to be desired. The nickel and diming was frustrating enough while everything was operational, but now it's just absurd, especially when compared to Universal. A 5 night, off peak stay at Cabana Bay with 4-day, 2-park...

Are any Disney guests average income people?

I read somewhere that stuffed inside the infrastructure bill is that cash value for Reward Points and cash back from credit cards will be considered income and have to be claimed for taxes.

Are any Disney guests average income people?

Some folks who are APs actually stay on property, eat in the parks (and/or at the resort), and yes, purchase merchandise. We let ours lapse because of 2 things: the uncertain future of how the virus would affect the experiences and the only new thing that would be opening in the near future was...

Keeping attractions open while "undergoing changes"

Expedition Everest: Yeti winning the ultimate game of red light/green light; adds a strobe effect Carousel of Progress: Dad "needs a hand" for the all the "jitter bug" performances Tres Caballeros: animatronics bibbidi-bobbidi-booed into cardboard cut-outs Jungle Cruise: Trader Sam goes on...

Disney world ending their Annual Pass (Not)

Even if you take the pandemic out of the equation: Until Ratatouille, Guardians, TRON, and shows are all operational, there's no justification for an AP.

WE NEED YOUR HELP COLLECTING PETE RANTS!

First show of 2016 there was a rant about metal detectors finally showing up at security. There are plenty of other Pete rants relating to WDW being private property and addressing the outrage in regards to policy changes.

9/29 Disney parks crowds and capacity discussion

We'll be in the parks this month and aren't even messing with weekends: AK - Mon HS - Tue EP - Wed MK - Thu

Auction to raise money for GKTW is live!!!

Had to go on my laptop to pay my invoice. Or maybe it was just that I had to wait two hours?

I think Pete was sort of missing the point on AP cancellations

The virus was hitting around the end of February when our AP was due to renew... The early lack of consistency throughout the states and the fatigue setting in which leads to carelessness, it just confirmed our decision to not renew. We have an October trip planned just to have something...

Is there an official Steve Porter mac & cheese/chicken nugget ranking?

How many different offerings of mac and cheese are there on property? There'd have to be two categories: regular and specialty. I think there are multiple offerings that have lobster mac & cheese and others that are similar to nudelgratin at Biergarten where there's just different types of...

D.O.C.'s = Dis'ers of Color (Disney Fans of Color)

I'm working hard, being essential... Keeping the country moving, making that OT, saving up for a Disney trip next year (or not). Since I have a primary job, I'm more fortunate than my production buddies who need that government assistance extension after this month. Write your congress people...

D.O.C.'s = Dis'ers of Color (Disney Fans of Color)

I think the majority of CM's do a great job of informing guests about information, culture, history, and quirky Disney facts if time permits. There are some who are more passionate about their role and where it applies to them in regards to contributing to the guest experience, because I think...

Dis Unplugged 6/9/20 - A question about the black experience at Walt Disney World

Anyone remember the exhibit expansion in American Adventure Pavilion? I thought Oprah sponsored it, but I know the Kinsey Collection expansion in 2014 included over 100 slave songs of the U.S. I find the exhibits and paintings more fascinating than VoL, sorry.

Dis Unplugged 6/9/20 - A question about the black experience at Walt Disney World

I try to avoid WDW news today, but they had a video on YouTube that talked to a DIStwitter personality who's been in the community for a long time and he talked about all of the little stuff that adds up (most shocking was being put in a plantation room at Riverside with the CM being clueless as...

    An End to ADRs?

We may see "updated" areas of the parks, because let's be honest, it's easier to profit from alcohol sales than food. It's a no-brainer to expand Cava bar into the San Angel. Make a huge horseshoe with multiple bar tenders. Less staff, too.

How tone deaf was it for Disney to announce price increases right now?

We packed our own snacks, water, coffee and maker when we stayed at Pop (to utilize the Skyliner). I think our only sit-down was a "what's available in an hour?" rezzy on the app for Sebatian's Bistro. Quick service here and there, we're still spending $50+ a day on food products alone.

Pete said something on the 03/28/20 live show that got me thinking....

If you open one park, you have to open them all. #1. Spreading out the crowd is of utmost importance. #2. Opening w/a park closed conveys to the public that it's still not safe. #3. Water parks may be a different story. I think the time of face character meet and greets are over; we'll see them...

    Best and Worst

Best and Worst re-appearing food items at F&G and F&W. My vote for the best is the Scampi Dip at Coastal Eats.

    What are you grateful for?

I'm grateful that the older I get, the less materialistic I become. Our last trip to Disney, I don't think we bought any souvenirs. We saw plenty of cool things, but it's like, we don't need them.
