Disney After Hours for non-DAH Guests...

Thanks everyone for the additional info. I can say that the posted wait time at Space was 15min at 8:15. We were wrapping up at Frontier. It was 8:30 by the time we pushed through BIG crowds mainly headed into the park (which seemed weird) to get to Tomorrowland. By the time we reached Space...

Disney After Hours for non-DAH Guests...

....is kind of a raw deal. Space Mountain was a 25 minute wait at 8:00. By 8:45 it has swelled to a 50 minute wait. This is because Disney allowed all the DAH guests to enter and start hitting the rides at 8:15, a full 45 minutes before the regular park hours end. Which means that at a time...

    Thoughts on Animal Kingdom

I have not. I had heard about the similarity to Indy. The darkness plus the strobes plus the jerking back and forth plus the blaring speakers is just not my idea of fun. Kids didn’t like it either. The cue is boring. You have to listen to Bill Nye. Then that cheesy preshow. Boy oh boy. Hopefully...

    Thoughts on Animal Kingdom

We did Lion King. Our 6yo likes it. Everybody else was pretty meh. It’s a nice spot for a lunch break if you pack your lunch. I agree on the nature trails. We did those and they were better than I expected. I can understand why some would like AK the best. Especially if you want more of a...

    Thoughts on Animal Kingdom

Did Animal Kingdom for the first time with my wife and three boys today. Ages 6-11. A few quick observations which may help with planning. First, it was unseasonably cool with highs in the upper 50s! Also light rain for much of the morning. It cut down on crowds considerably, so I’d say we got...

    >> Resort Grocery Delivery FAQ <<

Sadly Amazon Prime Now has failed us. It simply refuses to recognize the resort address for Caribbean Beach. 1114 Cayman Way Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830 It just won’t work. Oh well. We brought snacks and we can do without milk for breakfast.

    Best Time of Year?

If you want the lowest crowds, your best bet is to go with the times when kids are most likely to be in school. The kids are most likely to be in school, and parents are least likely to pull their kids out of school, at the start of fall and spring school terms. So that would generally be...

Arriving this week - how are the parks?

We arrive Tuesday and will be hitting AK on Wed and MK on Thurs. How are the crowd levels? Anything notable we should be aware of?

Are extra magic hours worth it?

Evening EMH generally isn’t all that helpful. It gives you more time in the park but is unlikely to reduce crowds and may actually increase the crowds throughout the day, on net. Morning EMH at Magic Kingdom is hugely helpful if you’re interested in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland rides. I’d say...

Feedback on Feb 2019 Weekend Itinerary

Looks like a pretty good plan. I hope you plan on hitting a few rides in AK before using that 9-10 Safari FP. You'll basically walk onto anything not named "Flight of Passage" that early in the morning, so I wouldn't beeline to Safari. Better yet, can you change your Safari to 11:30-12:30?

    Presidents Day Weekend Updated Hours

My hours for 2/13 and 2/14 did not change at all. But that's ok because I was fine with the hours as they are. I guess Disney isn't expecting heavier crowds for that Wed and Thurs prior to President's Day Weekend.

DSLR or iPhone? Plus DSLR Strap Question.

I’ve pretty much ditched the SLR (and I’ve got a nice one with nice lenses) at this point for everything except portrait work. You’re at a theme park. Unless your main goal is Disney photography, ditch the bulk. The computational photography of the newer iPhones is shockingly good.

    It’s just a joke. Don’t sweat it.

    Presidents Day Weekend Updated Hours

FYI - I'm not sure if they've recently updated their hours or not, but I noticed MK is currently scheduled to be open until 9pm on Feb 1, 14, and 21. For the 14th and 21st, that's in conjunction with separately ticketed After Hours events starting at 9pm. The 14th and 21st are Thursdays. Disney...

Max ride strategy at WDW parks

My advice: obsessing over FPs and TouringPlans is a fools errand and there are better ways to maximize your day than constantly being on your phone or checking an itinerary. The basic strategy for maximizing rides while having fun in MK is this: 1. Rope Drop, obviously. 2. EMH if it’s avaialble...

    Is FoP worth it?

I wouldn’t advise FOP for anyone prone to motion sickness. The cue is neat but the ride itself is just a motion sim. Once was enough for me but I’ll do it again for my kids. The HP rides are a superior blend of motion sim and real movement. Btw - Everest is the best ride at Disney. It’s a...

Plan of attack for Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom

Ah sorry, forgot to explain that these are divided between me and the older boys for FOP, and spouse and younger son for NRJ. He’s not tall enough for FOP. They’ll do NRJ a couple times at rope drop, too, waiting for us on FOP (my spouse hates motion sims).

Plan of attack for Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom

Doing a day at AK and a day at MK in February, the Wed and Thurs before President's Day weekend starts. Got my FPs at the 60 day mark and I've been making adjustments from there. I think I'm all set. Animal Kingdom: FOP and the NRJ at rope drop Kili Safari FP 10:30am Dinner at Yak and Yeti FOP...

Wait. Wait wait wait. Is there a difference between EMM, EMH, and DAH?

My guess is that with the roll out of the new gondola system, Disney thinks it can still lure enough people to stay on property for ease of access, so now it no longer needs to give away free early and late access to the parks. This is probably a mistake, especially with Universal breathing down...

    Hidden Gems at MK

I’ll second, or third, Tom Sawyer island for kids in the 3-12 age. It’s just a lot of fun and zero lines except maybe for the ferry to get over there. This is the place to head for a couple hours to chill and let the kids play with less hovering supervision. Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse is...
