    We did it!

Well.....not so much needing the new truck, but I had a feeling that he would be the most willing to upgrade after camping with the grandkids in the smaller camper. I haven't been married to the man for 40 years without know a little bit about how he ticks. lol Here are our new babies!

    We did it!

Ever since we spent a few days at the fort and rented a golf cart I've had the bug to upgrade from our small trailer to a toy hauler, but hubby wasn't so sure. Apparently all he needed to be convinced was 5 days in the small camper with our daughter and 3 youngest grandkids...ages 7, 4, and...

Extra Guests for Part of Stay

There are cars parked everywhere in loop 1600 right now. Apparently the one car per site rule has been scrapped....

What Campgrounds do You Like As Much as the Fort?

Have you been to Vogel State Park in Blairsville? It's my favorite, but now that we live in Florida it's a much longer drive.

Question regarding Full Hook Up Loops

We're in 1600 right now for a camping only trip. Easy walk to the pool and campfire.

Long Term Campers....Should it be allowed?

I managed to find a Wed-Sun full hookup site on short notice a couple of months ago and we're checking in next week. Our passes are blacked out so this will be a fort only trip and first camping trip for our 3 youngest grandchildren. We plan to spend a lot of time at the pool, but definitely...

    Boma opinions...

We had dinner at Boma last fall and it was good, but not something I would do again....but mostly because I like to try different places. We did have breakfast at Boma this week and it was very good...and yes they had bread pudding!

Jambo! The newest AKL Information thread

I think it was the South African Braaivleis.....I know I couldn't pronounce it! It had a beef and pork sausage, lamb chop, and pork loin and it was really delicious...veggies were part of it. I had the African Triple Chocolate Mousse and it killed me to leave part of it on my plate, but I was...

Jambo! The newest AKL Information thread

Just got home yesterday afternoon from a 3 night stay in a savanna view room at AKL for our 40th anniversary. Pros: The animals were pretty active in spite of it being so hot out. We saw different ones every day...the giraffes were my favorite. Food at The Mara (quick serve) was excellent and...

Jambo! The newest AKL Information thread

Hubby and I will be at AKL in a savanna view room Sept 9-12 to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary! He will be 4 weeks post surgery for left knee replacement and 8 weeks post surgery for having the right knee replaced so we're going to be hanging at the resort to relax. We do have...

    Can't Wait for Some Warmth

I got rid of all my winter clothes when we moved to Florida so this cold spell in Tampa Bay has been rough! I don't like it at all, but hopefully we'll be through the worst after tonight. We actually got a freeze warning alert for tonight and I'm having to run the heat in the house.

    Doing Disney twice this year

I camped at Vogel as a child too....I had such great memories of that and that's why we went back when got a camper. It's still the most popular park in the Georgia State Park System, sites book up a year in advance. You should try to go over July 4th some time, they do a bicycle parade for the...

    Joined the golf cart club!

After watching everyone with their golf carts and renting one for our November trip last year, hubby and I decided to start looking at getting one. We've been stalking the listings and yesterday we did it! Now we just have to do some creative engineering in the pickup truck bed so we can haul...

    Doing Disney twice this year

I just booked Fort trip #3 for 2018! It's just a weekend in early December to enjoy the Christmas decorations, but it will be fun. We have grandson's spring break week in March....no park days because our AP's are blacked out, but there's enough to do just hanging at the Fort. Also have a week...

    Official March Trip Reports

I agree 100%! We camped there several years ago and even though it was August and hot as blue blazes, but we loved it. Check in March 26 for grandson's spring break. Unfortunately we have Florida Resident AP's that are blacked out for spring break, but we just plan to hang out at the Fort all...

    Christmas 2018

I just got a weekend in December on the first try....very surprised. It's early, 7-10 but weekends seem to always be full so I'm pretty excited. We had so much fun just driving around looking at everyone's decorations this past November I can't wait to take the grandkids.

Parking a travel trailer in a resort parking lot

If you book a cabin at Fort Wilderness after camping there could you park in the grass area outside the parking lots? When we were there in November there must have been 20 different campers parked out there the whole time.

Internal Bus Transportation and Directionally-Challenged Grandma

At the risk of sounding like a snob, I think your mom will find more people at Fort Wilderness willing to help her out if she needs directions than the other resorts. Campers in particular tend to take things a little slower and when staying at the resorts it seems like everyone is focused on...
