    Starting to get flight anxiety

Sorry, I misinterpreted your first post (not sure how - totally on me there) but having the rates is helpful for proving the point.

    Starting to get flight anxiety

Right, so just stating that X number of people are killed in car accidents each day doesn't help argue the point. You need to look at it relative to the number of people driving. But, I misread the post I quoted. My point stands, but I misunderstood which argument the poster was making. No...

    Starting to get flight anxiety

No. If you're talking about an individual (which we are here) their risk is the number of people killed/hurt when driving divided by the number of people who are driving. And then replace driving with flying for risk of flying. If you are talking about overall burden on morality/morbidity...

Flying from Osaka to Tokyo Narita airport, changing terminals, is it difficult?

You'll have to re-do security when doing domestic to international. https://www.narita-airport.jp/en/airportguide/connect/dom-inter/ I cannot remember if Japan has exit passport control or not (but if it does, you'll do it in NRT)

    Starting to get flight anxiety

But there are many more people driving than flying. As a trained mathematician, you clearly realise that that number is meaningless (in terms of saying that driving isn't safer), unless you include the denominator.

Princess Kate Middleton is being treated for cancer

Would have to ask someone in the UK. I'm about to have one in Europe and the plan is a two-night stay for laparoscopic and a warning that there is a change (about 10%) that it will be open and that would be at least a 10 day stay. The surgeon did say that it was probably longer than I was...

Princess Kate Picture "Kill Notice "

That doesn't make sense. If they found cancer, how can it be preventive chemo?

Morning giggle! Punctuation across the generations

But, no. Must be nice in your magic land but functional illiteracy has not gone "poof". https://nces.ed.gov/pubs2019/2019179/index.asp https://ballardbrief.byu.edu/issue-briefs/illiteracy-among-adults-in-the-us Just a few of the first links I found - I suspect there may be some bias, but...

Princess Kate Picture "Kill Notice "

Weirdly (to me), we get the Thursday and Friday but not the Monday. Though, I'm on a work trip (Mongolia - no Easter) so miss it anyway.

RIP Canada's 18th Prime Minister, Brian Mulroney

I've tried Googling and nothing obvious is popping up other than his support of the Conservative Party (but post Mulroney)

Question about Flights from ATL to Geneva Switzerland

First is correct - Switzerland uses the Swiss Franc Second is not correct - the EU uses a "type C" (two prongs) and the Swiss use a "type J" (three prongs). Many/some adaptors for EU will work in a Swiss outlet (just ignores the missing hole in the outlet) but many Swiss outlets are inset in...

Question about Flights from ATL to Geneva Switzerland

First, based on your options, I'm assuming you want to stick to SkyTeam? There is also a Swiss flight from JFK to Geneva, but I assume you're looking at the Delta one (it's relatively new and I've not taken it). There are very few direct flights from the US to Geneva - the two from JFK, UA from...

Question about Flights from ATL to Geneva Switzerland

Flagging to come back. Lived in Geneva for years but family in US and have done many options for flights. But about to take off of flight so need to remember to come back.

Not getting same opportunity at work....

Same at my workplace - different managers (well, directors) interpret the rules and/or apply the rules about remote working differently.

Hope none of you had your March break plans ruined.

No it didn't. It said "across Florida"

Hope none of you had your March break plans ruined.

When they refer to cancellations at an airport, they are generally talking about flights departing from that airport - and maybe none of the flights leave MCO were cancelled?

Doctor Dies From Allergic Reaction After Raglan Road Meal at Disney Springs

Which is very different from the post you quoted where the server would be held personally responsible for the death.

Poll: Disboards, how often do you view my soccer threads?

Apparently Buzz does? Given threads like this and his "What do you think of Buzz?" thread. BTW - Buzz, I was in Doha this weekend and posts/cross bars on their metros have little soccer balls on them. Also saw a bunch of the World Cup stadiums (though, as you know, they dismantled some and...

    Have you got a degree?

We have to prove our degrees (show the original parchment). Candidates are warned in the job ad that they will have to prove their degree. Also, a note that it has to be from a recognized institution (I think that there is a link to this list in the job ad).

How much autonomy should an 18 year old home from college have?

Heck, I'm a full-grown adult but when I go back home, I let my dad and stepmom know when I'm out for evening and will be out for dinner. Just respectful, in my opinion. Especially if I'm in their condo (I try to get the guest suite in their building but sometimes it isn't available and I stay...
