    Carnation Cafe

In all the years I've been going to DL, we've never eaten at Carnation Cafe. For our recent trip (January 3-6), I made reservations, and all I can say is: I can't believe what we've been missing! Everything about the meal was absolutely superb. We checked in and were seated less than five...

    Trips Without Maxpass?

Just did a January 3-6 trip and used traditional FP and good planning only. Had one MM with our four-day tickets, got there for rope drop all other days, took a break for a nap during peak crowd times, and closed the place down nightly. Worked well for us. With a group of 6, MaxPass was just...

New bobsleds at Matterhorn - very small and uncomfortable

It's just jolting and uncomfortable no matter what they do. I never noticed it as a kid, though. I thought the slight padding they out in the bobsleds was a bit of an improvement. Just saw the new yeti for the first time on our recent trip!

    Rose Gold Ears

We were there January 3-6 and saw them for sale at the Downtown Disney store at both the beginning and end of our trip. Had no idea they were a big deal.

Couple of summary thoughts about our trip last month...

It's our standard go-to, haven't had a bad experience there myself. Give it a try. Loved this accompaniment to the trip report -- very informative!

    River Belle Terrace

I miss breakfasts at the River Belle SOOOOOOO much. A family tradition for ages and ages. RDZ just doesn't have the same atmosphere. :worried: We'd always sit outside and soak up the views of the ROA and Mark Twain.

Recent Peter Pan at rope drop experiences?

I like to ride PP immediately after fireworks. They rope off that section of Fantasyland during FW, and a small line forms for PP at the rope. The CMs walk that line in shortly after the show ends, and you can get on within minutes.

Ariel's grotto lunch - worth it?

We went when my nieces were 5 and 3, and still cherish the memories five years later. But for us, it was a once-and-done experience, not something we plan to repeat (unless the 7-year-old becomes princess crazy). We did like the food though, I remember we were all pleased. We like Minnie's at...

    Roaming Characters

I was flipping through old family photo albums the other day, and saw pics of our many DL trips from the early 1970s to late 1980s. The character photos were almost all so disappointing. Without handlers or the official M&Gs they have today, there was almost always some random kid (or even...

Trip report: the meh, the good, and the great!!!

We adore Desert Inn & Suites as well, have stayed there on our last four trips. You can't beat that short walk! I've never heard anyone else freak out over the chocolate covered pineapple spears! I know others must be eating them, since they're always there, but I don't recall hearing anyone...

Can ticket vouchers be redeemed the night before we plan to use them?

Yes, you can. We always exchange our Ares vouchers the night before. Saves time on that all-important first morning! As the PP said, however, they won't take photos till the first time you actually use your tickets.

Can anyone send some Disneyland pickle & pickle snack knowledge my way?

Dill pickle popcorn at the PopCone in Cars Land, too!

    Line etiquette

I'd be seriously irritated by a party of 12 line jumping as well, but I'm not willing to risk a major confrontation over it. Who knows how it could escalate? In my eyes, it's Disney's job to police these situations, not the guests, and unfortunately it seems the CMs have either been instructed...

    Line etiquette

Not OK, and against the rules. Sadly, this rule is rarely enforced and it happens routinely.

    Plaza Inn or Goofy's Kitchen?

Another vote here for Plaza Inn! On our last visit, we met Peter Pan, Hook, Chip and Dale, Pooh, Tigger, and a few others. Peter Pan had swordfight with my niece and her light saber and was absolutely wonderful. None of our interactions felt rushed at all. Now, if only other families would...

Ares Travel cheapest price for tickets right now?

We've used Ares twice with no problems at all. Bought about three months in advance.

    Favorite Character Meals ?

We love Minnie's Breakfast at Plaza Inn. We actually like the food a lot (made-to-order omelettes, yum!) but we're big breakfast fans. Last time we went, we saw Hook AND Peter Pan, and Peter was fabulous. He had a sword fight with my niece and "stole" her light saber. It was very relaxed and...

Opinions of Desert inn and suites?

We've stayed at DI&S on our last three trips. You simply can't beat the location: out the door of your hotel room and in line at security/bag check in less than 5 minutes! It's our preferred go-to now. Clean rooms, breakfast to grab on the way, and great rates. ::yes::

    Did anyone see this proposal??

Pot calling the kettle black moment there, Gisele. Seems to me many (most?) of your posts aren't about trip planning either, my friend. ;)
